I mean vld its not unfamiliar w messing up their characters faces, there are a couple of scenes where they forget Shiro's scar or put Keith's in the wrong cheek so
alphys: you know i… i used to hate myself, before you came along. i don’t know… i don’t want to use you to boost my self esteem but i just want to say… thanks, you know? for giving me a little more confidence, i guess. you’re really special to me
Ethical dilemma, some guy keeps weed eating my overgrown flowerbeds. I have social anxiety and agoraphobia and rarely leave my house. The first time it happened, I was in the house and I didn’t notice what was happening until he was halfway finished, I pretended not to be home and did not confront him. This is diabolical and I feel guilty about saying it but my flower beds were extremely overgrown and I assumed that a neighbor had hired him to do their flowerbeds and he had the wrong address, I did not have cash laying around to pay him to finish it and the house would look mad fucked up if I went outside and warned him it was the wrong address halfway through. I don’t have a big yard, it takes maybe 25-30 minutes to weed eat my front garden, I thought he would realize he fucked up and weed ate(?) the wrong house, either knock on my door asking for money, leave a note explaining what happened or quietly take the L and weed eat the correct house without addressing it. He just left after doing it so I assumed he had gone the third route.
Here’s the thing, that was in the late spring and he has done it 3 times now. The first time, I felt bad for the accidental theft of services and not stopping him but he did it again and he just did it a third time. He’s obviously not getting paid by me, it doesn’t seem to be an accident, he’s never left a note and I do not recognize this guy as one of my immediate neighbors. My house is on the corner and it is the first one you see when you drive into the neighborhood, he could live in the area and be fucking sick of driving past my gnarly yard every day, he could be paid by somebody OR he could somehow be related to my new neighbors who moved in next door around the time this started. If so, kinda weird to get someone to tend to your neighbor’s overgrown flowerbeds without introducing yourself…
What do I do? Continue my usual routine of pretending I’m not there and do not notice? He’s never come to the door, do I leave a note and a tip hidden behind the bushes addressed to weed eater man to show my appreciation? As previously stated, I don’t like talking to people or confronting them and I think a part of me is afraid it’ll somehow break the magic. This is truly a situation I do not know how to navigate.
So first a “””””brief””” overview of the world they live in. The land is called Aylia, and it’s divided up into 2 main continents/Kingdoms - separated by an ocean (there’s other islands and all that scattered around but they’re sort of irrelevant at the moment)
One side is called the Ragaast Kingdom (where most of the plot I’m about to yap about takes place), the other is the Aegu (I need to expand the world on this side more). Ragaast Kingdom followed more of a monarchy system (until it was abolished after Events), Aegu more of a democracy
There’s four main sentient species that dwell around:
Ralyans, Averi (note that they don’t play a big role in the Ragaast Kingdom storyline) Drac, and the Guardians
RALYAN
These are like your typical humanoids. They appear very similar to humans BUT with key differences: Their eyes can glow in the dark, they have fangs, pointed ears and their appearances can be way more outlandish (such as purple eyes, red eyes-white hair (not albinism), etc etc). These appearances, however, are pretty rare - only really showing up in those who have Speaker blood.
They reside almost all over the world, and no one group/society is the same. Those who live closest to the ocean don’t necessarily have the same culture as those, say, in the jungle or those near the mountains. And they’re especially different cross-continents (Aegu having far less Speakers than Ragaast).
Worship of the Guardians used to be the most common religion, however after Evelyn that was pushed out, and she was worshipped instead. Laima Ragaast (the first King) outlawed both of those religions - leading most to begin to worship him as the Saviour King.
Most of my ocs are Ralyan, and I’ve split them up into different “generations” (entirely based on vibes) just for conveniences sake
Evelyn’s Generation (aka the OG generation) - Those that sort of set off the main plot. (Evelyn Cyrall, Morganite Woods, Belvedere Hart, Laima Ragaast, Irmine Necran, etc)
The Inbetween (aka the almost irrelevant?) - Just the many generations that go in between after Evelyn’s generation, but just before Rai’s (Lilith Cyrall, Viktor Squall, Azrael Cyrall, etc)
Rai’s Generation (aka the “adult” generation) - I use the term adult loosely as pretty much all of the generation after this are in fact adults as well. They’re more the parent generation, but not all of them ARE parents so (Rai Cyrall, Sapphira Woods, Amulius Hart, Hail Fern, Sky Cyrall, Derecho Cyrall, Eros Necran, Rubio Ragaast, etc)
Main Series Generation - All those who are apart of the “main series” (even if they’re background characters, or whatever) (Rane Cyrall, Elding Woods, Elijah Woods, Ash Luz, Amber Ragaast, Ava Arias, Liam/Calla Mortimer, etc)
Second Generation - Most of these either only exist in AUs, or do exist they just fit better here (Ira Cyrall, Penelope Crow, Caterpillar (Cat) (who isn’t Ralyan), etc)
SPEAKERS
Speakers are Ralyan’s who have magic powers as one would put it. Speakers is more the colloquial term, the official being Blessed One (which is… A very ironic name). There are two types of Speakers: Those who merely carry the blood of a Blessed One (which results in the drastic appearance change), or those who have a Song (basically what the powers are) as WELL as the appearance. People can actually hear the Song someone has if they are Singing it
These Songs can be anything, but they can only have one - and it comes with a draw back. Songs can be very addicting to use, and it can destroy a person’s mind and/or body the longer they do. An example being Gale Velar (part of the Rai Generation). He has a Song of Strength, which in his case means that his body can maintain his physical prime for as long as he Sings it - HOWEVER the Song is slowly consuming his natural strength, which means that he has to rely on the Song more and more, but the more he uses it the more natural strength (strength he has outside of the Song) the Song consumes until it could consume HIM as well.
Songs originally manifested in the generation right after Evelyn’s - specifically in those who followed her, and drank the blood and ate the flesh of the slaughtered Drac. The children of those who helped commit the genocide. History was rewritten to claim that it was a Blessing, and that one is lucky to have such strong ancestors. And, in Ragaast Kingdom, it is a requirement that all Speakers must have a copy of a book which lists out all those who were apart of the army that destroyed the Drac (having a detailed family history).
AVERI
They appear very similar to Ralyan, apart from the fact that they have large bird-wings, slit pupils and black sclera. Also unlike the Ralyan, they do not pay any worship to the Guardians - rather, to the birds. At birth, they are given a crystal which contains the soul of the bird that will both watch over them and symbolise a lesson they must learn in life.
No one knows what their bird is until their first Transformation - in which they also sprout their wings for the first time. After that, they then create a bird mask (appearing similar to the bird they turned into, however they can be as creative as they like) and wear the mask pay respects to it. At their funeral, the mask is burned and the crystal shattered to release them back to the Sky.
They didn’t used to have so little contact with Ragaast, however after the events of Evelyn’s time (when Ragaast became named that) they chose to keep to themselves. They still interact with Ralyans, but no more than they have to - and mainly those who actually live on Aegu. In recent times (around Rai’s generation/the Main Series generation) some have opened up trading with Ragaast Ralyans and a few more are more open about the fact that they live in Ragaast. They rely more on tight knit communities of close friends rand family ather than traditional cities or towns - and they’re much more open with each other (sharing houses, raising children, etc. “It takes a village”). Fights still break out between groups, but no more or less than Ralyan towns and cities.
Their “houses” are known to them as Nests, and typically are in trees with branches and bridges connecting them. Art (specifically sculpture and weaving) is a very important practice to them - shown through their Nests (usually decorated with flowers and prized trinkets and the like). Most of their religious practices link with this (like their bird masks).
They have a completely different system of gender than Ralyans - genderfluidity being the default, strict binary roles being seen as abnormal. If one remains as one presentation for too long, the Averi believe that it’s a call for alarm
Drac
The original people are all extinct - slaughtered by Evelyn and her army. They used to appear draconic - sort of like I suppose Dragonborn in dnd? (I haven’t drawn any yet but I’ve been meaning to). The universal currency across Aylia was used as their jewellery (and they adored all matter of gemstones) to flaunt their wealth.
They were the most powerful and the most ancient - most that were alive before Evelyn still actually remembering the Guardians. They could live to be hundred of thousands years old and could grow to enormous heights. The most ancient grew wings (unusable, due to how huge they were, instead using them as an extra thing to decorate themselves with). Every single one of them had a Song, and it had little to no negative effect on them.
It was much easier for a Dracian to have a child with someone of a different race/species than with their own. To produce an offspring both partners had to have shared a very, very deep bond and love for each other as well as being biologically compatible - which very little were as sexual dimorphism was EXTREMELY limited among the Drac (leading to most simply just not having a gender). Most physically draconic-looking traits were lost in hybrid children as well. Because of this, children among the Drac were seen as people of high honour - and that extended to all, not just their own.
They didn’t worship the Guardians like the Ralyans, rather saw them as equals. Instead, they worshipped music. Composers and musicians were seen as religious figures.
They lived in the mountains - the southernmost part of Ragaast - later renamed the Dracian Hollows. They relied mostly on trading/bartering for food, as most natural food around the mountains weren’t sustainable long term. It would have been easier to move, so then they could rely on themselves, however there was one reason why they could not. The Root of Mthrallath
This Root was only known to naturally grow around the mountains, and is the only medicine that actually works on them (due to their resistance to herb remedies/drugs - inbuilt to prevent poisoning). They are the only food source that is packed with enough nutrients and the like to actually keep a child-Drac full, and ensure they grow properly. The Root is also what is used to keep a Song from burning and consuming the person using it for energy. However, it also secretes a poison that tempters with the mind - causing confusion, amnesia and hallucinations (which, of course, the Drac are immune to).
The Drac protected this Root with their lives (a death sentence being given to anyone who tried to steal it), as to take the Root is to sentence the Drac to a starvation and to be consumed by their Songs
GUARDIANS
It is impossible to truly picture a Guardian, as they are both time and space, life and death, past and future and present. They are like the gods of this world.
There were originally only two - Life and Death - and they created almost everything with their love. The Drac was the first - their proudest creation. They were their friends, their children. Then, the birds came into being - which created the Averi. From the Averi, the Guardians had the idea to create the Ralyans.
Originally, Life and Death were much more prevalent. Less like benevolent, omnipresent beings, more like curious spectators of a fish tank. They could push ideas to happen, and meddled far more in their lives. They weren’t evil, they just… Were. Until they grew bored and decided to focus more on their own love.
And then Evelyn came, and killed Death - drinking it’s blood and eating it’s heart (just like she/the others did to the Drac). Life tried to save it, but it couldn’t be done. Not in the way Evelyn did it. This led to the world almost dying - if the love that created the world was gone, how could the world continue?
Evelyn saved the world, by staring a new cycle - one of Hope and Destruction. Destruction will always be doomed to destroy themselves and everything around them, while Hope will try to save Destruction through - dooming themself in the process. It didn’t fix anything, but it kept the world from ending.
From this power, Evelyn became a sort of Guardian. A more off-centred version, but still powerful. When she was eventually betrayed and executed, this didn’t stop her - instead, it just led to her creating another curse/cycle, one out of hate and vengeance. She simply didn’t have a physical form anymore.
She created Balance, which she wanted to use to fix the world. To make herself into a fully realised Guardian. Herself as Life, her lover into Death, and have her two closest supporters (Belvedere and Morganite) become minor Guardians as well. She couldn’t control it, not entirely, merely create a concept and try her best to make it follow how she wanted it to be.
So ANYWAY. This all leads to the main plot. I’ll yap about individual characters soon
Gooseworx is stronger than me because if my introspective transgender theme narrative about identity and accepting your circumstances was infiltrated by media iliterate 12 year olds who treated my work like it was fnaf and said my self insert of me at my worst was literally the worst person who deserved nothing but the worst and could not recover ever i would actually fucking explode. I would kill people. How does she do it.
anyways this is what galra keith looks like. To me. Except the dorsal fur is like seasonal/grows in response to climate so he’s usually just got longer hair on his head
wait we can klance it up in here... keith developing feelings for lance and he's oblivious but his body isn't. suddenly his fur is growing in more vibrant his hair is darker even his teeth are growing more quickly and he has the weirdest urge to bare them at lance whenever he's around (show off how good he'd be at defending them against enemies <3<3<3) so he assumes, wrongly, that he's having some kind of. aggressive response to lance's presence. and it really upsets him bc he was so close to not believing he was evil for being galra and now he's lying awake imagining mauling lance (lovebites but literally) so basically he's evil incarnate. and then the dorsal fur (display feature) starts growing in and it's so uncomfortable to wear a t shirt over it and part of him really wants lance to comment on it. what is wrong with him. why can't he keep his tail still why does it keep swishing around lance. is it like cats is he really annoyed at lance and just hasn't realised. what is happening
lance mentions that he finds an alien animal cute and keith's immediate thought is that he could kill so many of them (hunter + provider instinct). he cries himself to sleep. why does he want to murder things just because lance likes them. will he ever be redeemed
You know what I found sorta funny (me screaming in my head at the premier) (similar to the me screaming in my head at Arcane Jinx being shockingly similar to another one of my ocs) at tadc ep 9?
The fact that I have a closeted trans-femme OC who went through a VERY SIMILAR SITUATION TO WHAT HAPPENED WITH JAX (Lilly?) There’s differences but still. Wow.
Anyway Calla Necran-Mortimer (oc) makes me want to bite and rip at walls and go feral and bark and scratch and scream
Ask me about her ask me about her ask me about her ask me about her ask me abo
I will galavant around in a field of my OCs and skip around happily and be happy and I will NOT start crying screaming throwing up over them and I like writing because writing is fun I am not going insane and bashing my head against the wall I like writing I like writing I am having so much fun
I love to write and write and write and write and write and I am NOT shaking in a corner having rewritten the same two scenes over and over and over and over
