💀 What I’ve Learned About Curses 💀

As the title states, this is what I’ve learned. It is all based on my experiences, opinions, and personal knowledge. Most of it comes from my grimoire.  What Is A Curse? A curse is a type of spell a person can cast on you. It can cause misfortune, health issues, financial issues, relationship issues, even in some cases death. What About Hexes & Jinxes? I also want to define hexes & jinxes before we get too into this.  • Jinxes • Temporary, can last hours, are just meant to cause a bit of bad lack but nothing too serious, are for a bit of fun or to teach someone a simple lesson.  • Hexes • Also temporary, but have greater effects, they’re a lot more curse like in that they can teach more vital lessons and can cause things like sickness.  • Curses • Permanent, can cause death, they’re for the worst, nastiest people, and the most intense situations.  In other words, they’re all negative spells. Just 3 different levels of them. The main difference is curses are permanent, the others are not, and a jinx certainly wouldn’t cause death or permanently effect someones well-being.  Are They Okay? I used to wonder this myself and have seen TONS of people ask it. It’s a matter of morality. I can’t tell you what to believe or think. It’s about you and your path.  How Do I Know If I’m Cursed? There are symptoms, I’ll go over all the ones I’m aware of. • Bad Luck/Misfortune  • Lack of motivation  • Nightmares • Bad Omens • Personal items going missing  • Plants dying • Fatigue  • Health issues/sickness • Financial issues All and any of these things can happen, they will come along suddenly and have no other explanation other than a curse.  How To Test If You’re Cursed Okay, you’ve identified you’ve got some of the symptoms, you can’t find any other reason or suspect someone specific has cursed you. The next step is testing to be sure. Here are my personal favorite ways to test for curses. The Egg Test  Break an egg, what you find inside will give you insight.  • Blood  • You’re cursed  • • White clots/chunks • There is no curse, but there is something clotting you or your life up • • Broken yolk  • There is no curse, but you have inner turmoil and need to work on it • Divination Test Ask whatever forms of divination you may have if you’re cursed.  Deity Test I don’t do deity work, but I also imagine it’d be an option to ask your deities if you’re cursed.  What To Do Next? Alright, so you’ve looked at the symptoms, they’re unusual for you. You did the tests, you’ve come to conclusion you’re cursed. Now what? • Cleansing  Cleansing is one of the foundations of witchcraft, use your favorite forms of cleansing to cleanse your space. This is a default for many witchy issues or situations anyways. But it’s a good reminder.  • Crystals  Use crystals as sources of positivity, luck, healing. To combat the symptoms of the curse. Also any crystals you can keep near you for protection will help too.  • Salt bath This a method of cleansing yourself, it may get the curse off of you. It may also help if you found something unusual in your egg (that is if you did the egg test).  • Warding  This is another thing that’s very common and simple, but effective, ward yourself and your space to make sure nothing else that’s bad or unwanted gets in. •  Deities  You could ask your deities to help remove the curse or ask them what you should do about it.  • Other witches Ask other more experienced witches what their experiences with curses are and they they recommend, get some feedback. Posts like this are nice but so is talking to someone and hearing their experiences!  Here’s some types of spells you could use to help you! Harry potter inspired (real) witch spells

These spells are inspired by spells from the Harry potter series, I have taken the Key word and from it written a spell or ritual. Some of these are figurative whilst others do similar to the original spell

Lumos - A ritual to ‘light up your world’

You will need:

3 white candles

Incense of your choice (optional)

Moon water

Method:

Light your 3 candles and incense (I suggest mulk or Madagascan Vanilla)

Fill up a bowl with moon water (if you don’t have enough you can mix this with normal water too.

Splash yourself with the water 3 times.

Take a few moments or whatever feels right to think about happiness and what you hope to achieve.

Then slowly blow out each candle whispering “lumos”

Nox - A curse to bring darkness into someones life

You will need:

A white candle

A piece of paper

Red pen

Method:

Write on your piece of paper the victim(s’) name in red pen. Over this draw an X

Fold your paper in half

Quickly light your candle and set the piece of paper alight

Blow out the candle whilst whispering “nox”

Alohomara - Unlock new opportunities

You will need:

Opalite

Green candle

wand

Rose or moon water (in a spray bottle or easy to sprinkle)

Method:

Cast a circle with your wand

Light your green candle placing the opalite in front of it

Sprinkle yourself with some rose or moon water then point you wand

Close your eyes and say “alohomara” whilst giving it a small flick

Accio - Good luck tea

You will need:

Chamomile tea

Mug + spoon

Amethyst

Sugar (optional)

Method:

In cold water, place your (clean amethyst) whilst the kettle is boiling. To make amethyst infused water

Once the kettle is boiled fill a mug with water and your chamomile tea bag

Stir your tea clockwise and add your preferred amount of sugar

Drink up whilst thinking “accio”

Expelliarmus ~ Disarming charm

To protect yourself against curses and therefore disarm those who try

You will need:

A wand

Salt

Method:

Roll your wand in the salt and then sprinkle some on your bedroom window sill

Point your wand straight forward and firmly say “expelliarmus”

🌼 Essential and Carrier Oils for hair

Im dying my hair soon and i think its gonna die *pun intended* so i was researching benefits of oils to the hair and thought I’ll share :)

Essential oils are distilled from the plant itself. They have the signature scent of the plant they came from. And they’re highly concentrated. For instance, it takes 220 pounds of lavender flowers to make a single pound of lavender oil.

Carrier oils (such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, almond oil, and olive oil) also come from plants, but they have a more neutral smell. And they’re not necessarily distilled down like essential oils are.

Here are the benefits of some essential and carrier oils:

🌼 Almond oil soothes and moisturizes the scalp.

🌼 Cedarwood oil stimulates the scalp and promotes hair growth.

🌼 Chamomile oil adds shine and softness to hair, and soothes the scalp.

🌼 Clary sage oil promotes hair growth and stimulates the scalp.

🌼 Coconut oil softens hair and increases shine.

🌼 Geranium oil strengthens hair.

🌼 Jojoba oil moisturizes the hair, adds nutrients, and stimulates the scalp.

🌼 Lavender oil deep conditions the hair, keeps it shiny, and helps control dandruff.

🌼 Moroccan argan oil moisturizes, nourishes, and provides antioxidants to hair.

🌼 Rosemary oil stimulates the roots, improves hair growth, and increases circulation in the scalp.

🌼 Sandalwood oil helps with dry ends, and adds fragrance to the hair.

Make sure to always use essential oils with carrier oils!

Using Glitter In Spells

Glitter makes everything better, including your spells. 

Using glitter when dressing your candles can add an extra kick to all of your spells. It is also a cheap alternative when all you have are white candles and still want to use corresponding colors in your work.

If you’re dressing a taper or coach candle you can simply put the oil on first and roll in the desired glitter. If you’re dressing a novena candle (glass encased) you can sprinkle a bit on top just be careful not to use too much since the top can catch on fire. Glitter and glitter glue can also be used to decorate engraved sigils/words carved onto your candles. Some ideas include:

Gold/Silver: Money work, luck, gambling, job searching

Green: Money, luck, growth in any aspect

Orange: Attraction, opening roads, success

Pink: Happiness, Love (best for new love and spells not focused on sex), friendship

Red: Lust, Passionate love, Courage, Strength 

Yellow: Communication, mental energy, Happiness

Blue: Healing, Water spells

Purple: Power, domination work, crown of success

Black: Substitute for any color, binding, hexing

Cleanse your space well and layer the ingredients in the bottle, focusing on the intent of each one. Now some of these are more personal and can vary for different people, e.g. I used desert sage because it grows wild here. Maybe you hate mint, if so then don't use it. Etc. Put the candle in the bottle and light it any time you need to clear your brain fog or make a tough decision.

I don't have an incantation for this one because I typically don't use them. Instead I use bells (pictured) or some other instrument to raise the energy and bring everything together. In this case I rang the bells over the bottle, focused on their ring, and let the sound gradually fade, then focused on the silence.

I feel like selenite works be a good addition, I just didn't have any extra on hand.
