@agameofbooksblog
did i wake up at 8 am so i could be at the bookstore right when it opens and get the brothers hawthorne?
yes. 🙂
I got it on Libby this morning!
Finished the Maidens! I was thrilled about finding my first 5-star read of the year, only to find out I’m like the only person on Storygraph that loved it looool. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect book: dark acadmeia meets Greek mythology meets psychology. Excited to read the Silent Patient next <3
normalize reading a book without caring if the spine breaks, folded cover, misspelled annotations and just ruining the book completely as a form of art
I’ve never heard of this book but was drawn to it at the store so I had to get it!

Fictional men who have the "it's ok to murder but it's never ok to disrespect your wife" energy >>>>
I keep my books in pristine condition when I first get them. Opening the pages only slightly to protect the spine even as the weight lays uncomfortably on my fingertips, I keep it’s cover free of coffee cup stains, protect the corners of the pages so they never bend or curl, I protect the words from splatter of water leaving their meaning undefined.
It’s only when Ive loved a book, been irreversibly changed by a book that I let go of that. Only then do I let the book bend from well use, holding by memory the touch of my fingers on its curved pages- Imprinting my love by my loving tender hands. It is only in return of said love that I let a book be changed by me.

August 2023 #1 Great Read is “Shark Heart: A Love Story” by Emily Habeck
Happiness is reading a really good book and having a friend to talk to about it.
You can join the challenge on StoryGraph here! I want to discuss spooky books with people during this spooky season.
