a lot of people haaaate my favorite local reporter but her reporting abt how our police chief only lives part-time in seattle bc he also lives in chicago with his wife and kids finally broke into more mainstream news after the shooting last weekend. and now she's reporting that trusted sources say he's been fired

i hate police but it's just bonkers that our last mayor hired a police chief who wasn't even willing to fully relocate here. like. this is not the first time he's been out of town during some sort of crisis and this time he got aggressive with a reporter who asked about how he had planned to be out of town from late july to mid august

i guess he also scheduled 6 interviews today with local news specifically about his schedule and then canceled them after he was told it would be a really bad look to do that 3 days after the shooting. and now he's very likely no longer our police chief

sitting upright for most of the day is still very exhausting for me but i am only two weeks out from surgery so i am trying to not be too frustrated about it. i want to do more things but at least i can spend the day working on a puzzle for like 6+ hours instead of having no energy for anything

today i was able to sit on our couch in the living room and watch an 89 min movie without it hurting my back. it's been years since i've been able to sit on our couch for any amount of time without it horribly fucking up my back. i think that once i've recovered a bit more from surgery and am not this fatigued i won't have to spend most of my time outside of work in bed. i have spent the better part of the last three years stuck in bed bc of my chronic pain so this is wild to me
