Me, a lá Twisted-Wonderland
Full Name: Caelan Graham-Rountree
House: Ramshackle (Unofficially protected by all, but has a soft spot for Scarabia and Heartslabyul)
Theme Song: "You've Got a Friend in Me (Wheezy's Version)" from "Toy Story 2"
Physique: Small and a bit too heavy for his age, with a frame that suggests he's in the middle of a growth spurt but hasn't quite filled it out. His posture is often slightly hunched, as if trying to make himself smaller.
Hair: A messy, sun-kissed blonde mop that's a stark contrast to his inner turmoil. It has bright, electric blue highlights at the tips, a gift from Vil Schoenheit to "match his eyes."
Eyes: Large and expressive, a vivid sky-blue that often looks tired or worried, with an underlying tone of compassion and conviviality. They are quick to well up with tears, but also quick to light up with a genuine, disarming smile.
Attire: Wears a modified NRC uniform. He keeps the black blazer and pants, the legs of which rolled up a bit, but has swapped the standard black vest for a bright blue one, normally meant for students of Ignihyde house. He pairs his uniform with surprisingly modern, bright red sneakers, a holdover from his old life that he clings to. His tie is often askew, and his collar is rarely perfectly buttoned.
Distinguishing Features: Faint, faded scars on his arms and back, leading to an outline of a clawed handprint on his chest, usually hidden by his clothes. He has a habit of fidgeting when anxious, clapping his hands or patting his chest with one hand rapidly when he's excited as a sign of stimulation, showing he's on the autism spectrum.
Caelan is an autisitic boy who's entire character is the very textbook definition of a people-pleaser, a survival mechanism honed by years of neglect. His default state is one of conviviality and cheerfulness; he's naturally friendly and finds it almost magically easy to make friends, disarming others with a genuine smile before they can even think to be hostile. However, this is a fragile mask over a core of profound anxiety, loneliness, and a gaping lack of self-worth. He's also known to have a large appetite, forgetting his table manners while he gorges himself. He believes he is a burden and that any kindness shown to him is a temporary loan that will be recalled the moment he makes a mistake. This leads to extreme people-pleasing behaviors: he'll agree to anything, eat food he dislikes, and suppress his own needs to avoid being a problem. He is a big eater, not just for comfort, but from a deep-seated scarcity mindset. Having been deprived, he eats whenever he can, often with messy, unrefined table manners that betray a lack of formal upbringing. Despite his fear, Caelan possesses a deep well of empathy. Having known pain, he is incredibly sensitive to the suffering of others and will go to great lengths to comfort them, often forgetting his own distress in the process. His arrival in Twisted-Wonderland has done little to quell his anxiety; in fact, it has amplified it, as he now feels his very existence is a "game" the universe is playing with him.
Caelan's life in the other world was one of quiet neglect. His father, a man wrapped in his own bitterness, provided a roof but little else. Caelan grew up invisible, his needs ignored and his presence treated as an inconvenience. This environment forged his anxiety and his desperate need for approval. The attack that brought him to Twisted-Wonderland was not his first, but it was the most severe. Waking up in this new, terrifying world was just another form of displacement for him. He was found in a state of shock, malnourished, and injured, and brought to Night Raven College. His immense, untamed power was immediately noticed by Headmage Dire Crowley. Seeing the boy as more of a problem than a student, Crowley commissioned a ruby magestone housed in a custom pen, tasking Professor Trein with helping Caelan harness his abilities. Caelan was assigned to the Ramshackle Dorm, where he unexpectedly found allies in the form of the dorm's resident ghosts—Phineas, Ezra, and Gus (the Hitchhiking Ghosts in disguise), who took a liking to the kind-hearted boy and became his first true friends in this world. His life at NRC is a tightrope walk. He is constantly trying to be "good enough" to not be sent away, a fear that is validated by Crowley's utter indifference to his well-being. After being caught in the crossfire of an Overblot and suffering grievously under Crowley's negligent care, Professor Divus Crewel had seen enough. Fed up with the Headmage's incompetence, Crewel officially adopted Caelan, becoming the stable, caring father figure Caelan has always needed.
The Housewardens (His "Guardians"):
Riddle Rosehearts: The first to show genuine, if strict, concern. After finding Caelan in a state of decline post-Overblot, Riddle was the one who insisted he be taken to the infirmary. He acts as a stern, protective older brother, ensuring Caelan follows the rules and takes care of himself, even if his methods are harsh.
Vil Schoenheit: Finds Caelan's messy hair an "artistic tragedy" and took it upon himself to add the blue highlights, claiming it was for "aesthetic balance." He occasionally forces Caelan into "etiquette training" which is more about making him sit still and breathe than actual manners.
Leona Kingscholar: Initially annoyed by Caelan's cheerful demeanor, Leona has softened. He sees the fear in Caelan's eyes and it resonates with his own protective instincts. He won't admit it, but he makes sure Caelan gets his meals and will growl at anyone who makes him cry.
Malleus Draconia: Sees Caelan as a lost lamb in need of guidance. He is surprisingly gentle with him, often sharing books from the library and speaking to him in low, reassuring tones. He is fiercely protective of Caelan's "pure heart."
Kalim Al-Asim: The embodiment of warmth and safety for Caelan. Kalim's boisterous kindness is one of the few things that can get a genuine, uninhibited laugh out of the boy. He often invites Caelan to share meals with him, much to Caelan's joy.
His Mentors & True Family:
Prof. Divus Crewel (Adoptive Father): Caelan's rock. Crewel saw past the trouble and the power, and saw a terrified child who needed help. He personally saw to Caelan's injuries, cleaned him up, and now provides the stable, loving home he never had. Caelan is fiercely loyal to him and views him with a mixture of deep respect and filial love.
Prof. Trein (Magic Tutor): The first person at NRC to show him patient kindness. Trein helps him practice with his pen, understanding the strain of his power. Caelan trusts his guidance completely.
Mr. Sam & Coach Vargas: Mr. Sam ensures Caelan is always fed, slipping him extra snacks. Coach Vargas sees his potential for physical resilience and encourages him in a way that builds his confidence without pressure.
The Hitchhiking Ghosts (Phineas, Ezra, Gus): His secret best friends. They are the only ones who see his unfiltered self. They play pranks with him, listen to his fears, and use their intangibility to help him get out of tight spots. They are the family he chose.
Unique Magic: Aetherweave
Description: Caelan's magic is dangerously potent. He doesn't just create illusions; he can temporarily "edit" the story of reality in his immediate vicinity. This can manifest as turning a solid wall into mist to pass through, nullifying an attack's effects, mending a broken object by "rewinding" its state, or making a pursuer forget why they were chasing him by erasing that "page" from their short-term memory.
Visuals: His magic manifests as vibrant green lightning that crackles around his custom pen. The magestone, despite the green energy, glows with a deep, ominous red, representing the immense and dangerous power he wields.
Limitations & Dangers: This power is incredibly taxing, both physically and mentally. Overuse causes severe migraines, nosebleeds, and can even cause temporary glitches in reality around him (e.g., objects floating, colors inverting). His emotional state directly affects his control; when he is scared or anxious, his magic can lash out, rewriting things he doesn't intend to, making his power as much a curse as it is a gift.
