You know, I’ve never been on the other side before. The canon side of things. When it comes to shipping I’ve always somehow managed to prefer the pairing that doesn’t become canon (my two biggest examples being Zutara and Harmony). So Miraculous Ladybug is the first time where I actually ship the canon pair (the love square). For most the part it feels nice, finally knowing I’ll get to see my OTP ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after so to speak. But it’s also put some things in perspective for me. Because now I know what it’s like to be on the other side. To love and adore the canon ship, while feeling disheartened to see the non canon shippers (Lukanette) relentlessly bash on both the love square and Adrien. Everything has become different now. When I was on the other side, the non canon side for my previous fandoms I thought the canon ships like Kataang and Romione were trash, I couldn’t comprehend how anyone could like such a toxic ship or understand why it was canon when the opposing non canon ship was so much better. I didn’t particularly like seeing so much hate for characters like Ron and Aang but I accepted it, I felt like my fellow shippers made good points about their character. But after getting a taste of what it’s like to be on the canon side now I understand how it hard it is for canon shippers. I’ve seen how hateful some Lukanette shippers can be, and how much it hurts to see them call the love square toxic and paint Adrien as an abusive irredeemable monster in fics as well as meta posts (much like is done with Ron and Aang). How frustrating it is to see them say Marinette deserves better than Adrien (Katara deserves better and Hermione deserves better, it’s all sounding too familiar) disregarding Marinette’s own canon wants and feelings for their ship. Acting like they know better than the person who created the character. That’s not to say people shouldn’t ship non canon pairs and write fics where they end up together, there’s nothing wrong with that. I just have realized how much it hurts to see your ship be canon and be so happy your favorite ship is canon only to feel disappointed to see such a large part of a fandom hating on it, raining on the parade with their bashing and over critical attitude. I wish there was another way, some way we could all as a fandom (all fandoms not just this one) respect one another’s ships instead of fighting and spreading hate. To have compassion for how the other side (no matter which side you’re on be it canon or non canon) is feeling. Because it’s hard to be a non canon shipper, feeling like there’s a better one and being disappointed that it’ll never happen in canon. But it’s also hard to be a canon shipper, to be so happy seeing your pair get together and see your ship being unfairly dumped on by the fandom in favor of the ship that wasn’t canon. Unfortunately ship wars have become inevitable in fandom and this post certainly won’t change that. But I wanted to get my thoughts and feelings out now that I can see both sides and make this promise: I’m not going to bash on or criticize characters and ships anymore. I’ll keep loving the love square, I’ll never stop shipping Zutara and Harmony, but now that I know how it feels to be on both sides, I don’t want to make someone feel bad about their ship or favorite characters even unintentionally.

Ron's strategic skills are there if you look for them
One day I'm going to write a post about all the little moments in the books in which Ron shew his strategic skills, even if I also think they could have been better displayed. This is one of those moments.
'Sturgis Podmore?' said Ron slowly. 'He's that bloke who looks like his head's been thatched, isn't he? He's one of the Ord—
'Ron, shhl' said Hermione, casting a terrified look around them.
'Six months in Azkaban!' whispered Harry, shocked. 'Just for trying to get through a door!'
'Don't be silly, it wasn't just for trying to get through a door. What on earth was he doing at the Ministry of Magic at one o'clock in the morning?' breathed Hermione.
D'you reckon he was doing something for the Order?' Ron muttered.
'Wait a moment . . .' said Harry slowly. 'Sturgis was supposed to come and see us off, remember?'
The other two looked at him.
'Yeah, he was supposed to be part of our guard going to King's Cross, remember? And Moody was all annoyed because he didn't turn up; so he couldn't have been on a job for them, could he?'
'Well, maybe they didn't expect him to get caught,' said Hermione.
'It could be a frame-up!' Ron exclaimed excitedly. 'No — listen!' he went on, dropping his voice dramatically at the threatening look on Hermione's face. The Ministry suspects he's one of Dumbledore's lot so — I dunno — they lured him to the Ministry, and he wasn't trying to get through a door at all! Maybe they've just made something up to get him!'
There was a pause while Harry and Hermione considered this. Harry thought it seemed far-fetched. Hermione, on the other hand, looked rather impressed.
This is absolutely brilliant, if you think about it. Even Hermione was impressed.
Imagine you are Cornelius Fudge. What better way to discredit Dumbledore than to catch the people he's friends with/is known to spend time with doing criminal activity, especially at the Ministry ? But you have nothing on them, so you elaborate a plan to lure one of "Dumbledore's lot" to the Ministry and frame him...
Brilliant.
