This one-shot is a modern AU ficlet inspired by an ask by @geraltsays. Geralt is an office worker who uses his day job to support a secret second job. Jaskier is a coffee barista who he sees every evening on his way home from work. Jaskier is a musician, and he and his buddy Lambert do the evening shift in the cart every day. No one knows what Lambert does. Jaskier finally gets up the courage to give Geralt his number, they get very drunk together, and their pants come off. At the end, you get to find out what Geralt’s hobby is. This is 80% gratuitous smut and is just for fun. Enjoy!

Francisco Franco died in 1975, but during his rule, he implemented barbaric laws against LGBTQ+ people, which had a lasting effect.

Everyone who knows even a little bit about LGBTQ+ history will have heard of the Stonewall Riots, a key moment at the start of the queer liberation movement that took place in New York City in the late 1960s. Fewer people might be familiar with similar events that have taken place in other countries, such as the 1971 Begoña Passage Raid, which came to be known as the “Spanish Stonewall”. To dive into the history of this event, we need to look back at the LGBTQ+ rights situation in Spain under the regime of Francisco Franco.

During this Pride Month, which has very much come from America to us, I'd like to tell you about some of Finnish queer history:

1903 Aino Malmberg published the first known lesbian short story in Finland, named "ystävyyttä" ("friendship").

1963 Christer Kihlman publishes a break trough novel Den blå modern ("blue mother"). One of the book's themes is homosexuality, and the book ended up winning the national literary price.

1966 Ilkka Taipale publishes a book "Sukupuoleton Suomi" ("genderless Finland"). In it a lawyer Herbert Gumpler criticizes the law that criminalized gay acts, because it left gay people vulnerable to extortion and violence.

1968 Keskusteluseura Psyke becomes the first registered queer association. It later starts to publish a magazine "96" for queer people.

These literary works and formal associations might seem boring compared to the "first pride was a riot" we hear from America. But the truth is that these published materials slowly moved people's opinions, and in 1971 "gay acts" were no longer a crime.

Also reminder that our nowadays well known and beloved gay icon Touko Laaksonen, "Tom of Finland" started his career in 1956 by publishing his art with that pen name in a magazine based in USA, because that stuff was still illegal in Finland, and even publishing with his real name could have got him into trouble before the law changed. But damn it he found a way to get them published anyway.

The moral of this history; never underestimate the power of a pen. A writing or a drawing can be a part of a change you want to see happening.

[Phranc] pauses, lowers her voice and begins pacing her words.

“Then we crossed over into Toronto. And I get on stage, and that audience … I have never run into such a hostile, homophobic audience, just full of complete hatred, in a long, long time. They called me ‘You fucking faggot. Dyke. Queer. Cunt. Fuck you. You suck. Faggot. Cunt.’ 30 minutes straight, nonstop abuse. And it wasn’t just two or three of them, either. It was entire chunks of the audience.”

Did she continue playing?

“Yeah, because if you walk off the stage, they win. What I did was, I took out a few of the more quiet, vulnerable songs, because this was not a listening audience. And instead of playing 45 minutes, I played for 30 minutes. I ended with the song about the polar bears [that ate the Brooklyn kid], and then I stopped And I looked at the audience, and I talked to them. And I said [her voice is calm, but firm], 'Now, I’ve been called every name in the book tonight. So let’s talk a little about tolerance and acceptance in the world. Don’t you think people should be able to grow up and be whoever they are? Do you want somebody to tell you who you can and cannot be? I’m gonna dedicate this next song to you, ’cuz you’re the audience who needs to hear this.’ And I did “Take off Your Swastika,” the most passionate, burning version I think I’ve ever done in my life.

“The thing that really hurt me was that there were women yelling those things to me also. But in the end, I felt like I won, and it was good, because that’s what consciousness raising is, ya know. You don’t do a lot playing the real easy gigs. It’s great to play for people who love you, like on the women’s music circuit. But I feel that my job is to go out into the big world. Ya never know who you might reach out there.”
