“Move, bitch, get out the way,” Luca crooned under her breath, clamping a waffle iron shut and fiddling with the buttons. In truth, the music blaring from the earphones was anything but her thing, but the abandoned iPod she’d found a week earlier was proving a handy time killer during long shifts. It was only upon turning around, head bobbing as she repeated the lyric, that she spotted a wide eyed child propped on a tattered bar stool. “Oh…I… Sorry.” Sheepishly laying down the family’s plates and avoiding a glare from the mother, Luca hurriedly paced down the counter to another customer, yanking an ear bud free.
“Welcome to Quincy’s, home of the fluffiest pancakes and the crispiest bacon.” It took everything she had not to grit her teeth through the false cheer. “What can I get you today?”
Aiden couldn’t help but chuckle under his breath at the cheesy line. He couldn’t stand when establishments forced their employees to go along with a jingle, thinking that their customers would do anything more than get a good laugh. Although he’d be lying if he didn’t admit that it fit the ambiance of the diner. “Uh..yeah.” He trailed on, pretending to glance through the menu before meeting her face with a smirk. “Can I get some of your fluffiest pancakes, and crispiest bacon?” Aiden requested sarcastically, continuing to gaze up at her with a hint of innocence.
Pulling her phone slightly out of her pocket and pressing the button so that she could see the time, she looked back up at the customer who was now going to sit behind the counter. “My shift is ending, but I can get you someone else if you want.”
Aiden had just stopped into the diner for a quick cup of coffee. Despite it not being that good, it was alright for the price and having only a small bit of change on him it would do the trick. He instantly groaned at Athena’s words, she was the waitress he typically ran into, and she often left him with some decent conversation. “Please don’t tell me you’re going to leave me off with Joanne. Cause’ no disrespect but, she creeps me out”

Wren: should i go blonde? 💇🏼
Aiden: It'd match your personality. *BA DUM TSS*
“So he comes up to me and he’s like, Hey baby, you from around here? and I’m like, We went to school together, fucktard. And then…” Wren paused, eyebrows furrowing as she snapped her fingers to get the other person’s attention. “Are you even listening?”
Aiden instantly rolled his eyes, continuing to glare at the laptop screen which bordered between them as Wren’s fingers snapped in his face. Aiden flashed Wren his familiar ‘you’re annoying me’ expression as he met her glare before releasing a deep breath. “Do I ever really listen to you Wren?”
“great,” ria replied quickly, then let out a hum in thought. “that’s a big fuckin’ question. i’m thinking in some sort of crazy fight where i’m fucking a bunch of guys up and then one girl like comes in and blows my head off with a shotgun.”
“I could be into that, but I think the shotgun idea would be way too quick and clean. We need something a little more shocking for the first death. So hear me out, what if after you beast the fuck out those dudes, you turn around thinking you’re out of the woods, but then BAM! Some chick stabs you in the jugular and your neck starts shooting out a shit ton of blood. Cue slow pan of your lifeless body hanging out in a pool of blood.”

A lit cigarette between his fingers, Callan turns his attention to the No Smoking sign attached near his head to the outside brick wall of the coffeehouse. “I know,” he says gravely, “but when your boss asks you to write about a new flavor of coffee here — as if that’s actually something interesting that people care to read about — you’ll want to smoke your irritation away too.”
Aiden shrugged at the others remark, seeing as he was probably one of the very few people who was actually interested in reading reviews about coffee, but he decided to keep that detail to himself. “I mean, if it makes you feel better-” He paused, clearing his throat of the smoke that lingered in his lungs. “The coffee is pretty fucking fantastic, so at least you’re not being dictated to chug down a load of dirt.”
ria smiled, then raised an eyebrow. “that’s an interesting offer. seeing that you clearly want me dead, i’m gonna counter it by agreeing to those terms, but asking that you bring me on as like, producer or some shit.”
Aiden glanced around for several seconds as if he was pondering the offer. “Alright. You’ve got a deal. Now the real question is, how do you wan’t to die?”

Leah beamed, waving her hand like she was accepting cheers from a crowd, “Thank you, thank you. I’m here ‘til Thursday.” She look another sip with the conformation, a quick shrug of her shoulders saying she wasn’t going to insist. It wasn’t polite to, anyway. “There was this buzzfeed thing about them cooling down quicker in the freezer that my mom tried. She left them too long and they all exploded inside.” The story had come from nowhere, almost as if she was confiding something in him. Family usually stayed out of the conversation. With her being frustrated with them, she was pretty open to complaining about their taste in movies.
Just one look at her friends face and she knew they were on the same level. It was the same way she felt about that Fast and Furious shit - except they were more likely to literally beat a dead horse in the Saw films. “Of course they are. Putting me to shame.” It was a habit of Leah’s to move her body before she’d thought it through. Affection of any kind was something she always craved, it often meant she’d invade personal space or take any excuse there was for contact. “Text me if you decide to so I can watch this free stuff trade going down, you’ve got me interested now.” She watched his finger tapping with a grin, quickly snatching up the remote from beside herself, “So, what are we going to watch? I’m pretty over this one, I think. The acting is like the last Ingleburn play.” Offering him the remote, she trusted him with the decision.
Aiden’s brows instantly raised at the story, half from pure horror at the idea of wasting that much beer, and the other half from full on surprise that she would have actually falling for Buzzfeed’s crap. “Un-fucking-real.” He cackled along with a shaking head that was filled with disapproval. “Number one rule in life: Never trust Buzzfeed. They have bad ideas that just look good because of the decent execution. I learned that the hard way.” Aiden mumbled the last words under his breath as they quickly brought back one too many dark memories.
“First Buzzfeed, now Saw. Such a shame.” Aiden shook his head once again, only this time it was accompanied by a playful smirk. “Uh..” He paused, trailing off as he accepted control of the remove, flicking through their options. “I mean we could watch something like Psycho or The Shining. Maybe it will help ease me into the Holiday spirit, considering I’m in preparation to be the biggest fucking Jew-Grinch of all time.” The idea of the upcoming holidays left an unsettling feeling in his stomach, mostly because Aiden knew he was going to be the guy who use to be invited to the holiday dinners, but is now exiled to drinking cheap beer and scarfing down Chinese food. “Prepare yourself for it, or you’ll end up going down with me.” He joked, passing over the reigns of the remote. “I’m down for whatever, even if it’s crap, just make it gory.”

A smirk was planted on her face as he played along, “Netflix and kill. You know just how to ruin a fun time, Aid’.” Leah flicked to top of the beer before she opened it - she always did, it was something she’d observed from her father. Most of her habitual actions came from watching her father, he was a ritual driven creature. “But, if it bothers you so much, we can leave the death out of it for tonight,” She took a sip with a shrug, almost spilling some on herself as he joined her on the couch.
“Oh, you didn’t give me your last cold one, did you? Do you want it? We can share,” Reaching out to him, she was caught between feeling bad and flattered. It wasn’t often that she felt prioritised in any way, even with little things like this, and it almost made her blush. Being a pretty good judge of when to press for more information and when to leave it be, she chose not to question him. If Aiden wanted to talk about his day, he would. She was a bit the same that way, not being a girl of many words when it came to herself. Her face lit up at the mention of Halloween, “Oh, you bet I’m going, how could I not be? No way am I staying home with my parents as they watch all those Saw movies again, once was enough,” She felt as though she was rambling, adjusting herself so she could lay her legs out across his. “Please tell me that you are. I think it’ll be fun.”
“Netflix and kill.” He chuckled as a goofy grin plastered itself on his face, enjoying that pun a little too much. “That was a good one, I’ll give you that.” Aiden admitted, wagging his finger towards her. “Yeah, but don’t about it. That one’s yours.” It wasn’t typical for Aiden to share his booze, he had the tendencies to be a greedy bastard as of recent, but Leah stuck around for enough of his crap to become an exception to that rule. “I have six more waiting for me in the fridge, won’t be long until they’re chilled.” He explained, pushing the can back towards her direction in refusal.
His expression of amusement quickly morphed into disgust at the mention of the word ‘Saw’ granted, the special effects were to be admired, but any plot line that dragged on for multiple years left a unpleasant taste in Aiden’s mouth. “Your parents would be the type to turn the Saw franchise into a tradition.” Aiden joked, shaking his head in disapproval before his eyes flicked down to her legs that were now laid out against his lap. “I don’t know about the whole fun thing, but I might go. Only to get free crap from underage kids, though. Like taking candy from a baby.” He chimed proudly, tapping his fingers against her leg playfully to the tone of his voice.
“god, i hope so. that would be a killer movie plot,” she chuckled, skillfully taking the blunt from his fingers. she didn’t usually smoke her own product, but it was a damn special occasion, wasn’t it? “think you could actually get him to be in it if you asked nice enough?”
Aiden shrugged at her question, “Probably. I mean I’ve built up some pretty good connections.” He joked flashing Ria a quick smirk as he trailed on “-but I’ll only start placing the phone calls if you agree to be the chick who dies first.”
“might want to be careful with that. it is halloween and all, if anyone saw you passed out or all bloody and laying on the ground, they wouldn’t think twice.”
“What?” Aiden questioned, his face scrunching up in confusion. “Are you insinuating this blunt is going to turn into Michel Myers and rough me up? Cause I think it’s worth the risk.” He added sarcastically, inhaling a drag before offering it back over.

There weren’t very many places Leah could go to escape her Ingleburn friends. As soon as the bell rang in the afternoon they seemed to consume the town, filling up any place the girl could go to put off going home. Things hadn’t been good there this week. Aiden’s apartment was the only place that came to mind; she was no stranger there and he had a killer collection of movies. It helped that he wouldn’t call the cops for breaking and entering due to her impatient, presumptive self-welcoming. “Hello to you too.” She chuckled, almost unable to tear her eyes away from the screen for more than one moment to offer him a sweet smile. In the end she decided just to pause it, not only to give him her attention, but so she wouldn’t miss anything important. His sarcasm was refreshing considering the hideousness she’d dealt with at school.
Kneeling to watch him over the back of the couch, the grin didn’t leave her face. She nodded once he looked at her again, “Is all of the above an option?” Leah made it clear that she was kidding, keeping a straight face not being a talent of hers. To say that she came here just for the drinking was a half-truth. Aiden’s place was a sweet escape from the world outside, his reliable stock of liquor which he’d happily share was just a bonus. “Thank you very much.” Leah took the can with two hands with a grateful grin, getting comfortable with her knees tucked up so Aid could sit when he settled. “Have you had a good day?”
“All of the above?!” He questioned as if he was actually offended. “You can’t Netflix and chill, and hope for my death all in one night. I don’t think it works like that.” Aiden joked as he continued to rummage through his cabinets in attempts to find something to munch on, but ultimately coming up empty handed as he made his way back toward Leah.
Instantly a laugh released from his mouth at Leah’s question, fading off into a sigh as he lazily plopped down next to her on the couch. “When those beers are cold and I’m drunk, then I’ll be having a good day.” Despite the obvious distress in his voice, he still managed to keep things light by flashing over a quick smirk. Aiden had a tendency to be borderline hypocritical when it came to his feelings. He didn’t like to beat around the bush, but details weren’t always his favorite thing, he preferred to be the listener when it came down to fine tuning. “What about you? Are you goin’ to that Halloween thing?”

After a long week of classes, and even a longer day that finished with a less than fortunate run in with his father at the local drugstore, ‘nice to see your life has transpired into smoke and booze.’ Turing the key to his apartment was an immediate relief to say the least. The lights were dim and he could see the reflection from the television casting shadows along the kitchen cabinets that lined the back wall. As Aiden made his way out of the small hall entrance and into the main living area of his small studio, his eyes instantly laid on an all too familiar face. “Who the hell invited you over?” Aiden questioned sarcastically. It wasn’t much of a surprise to find another soul lurking in his place, especially Leah. Plus when you hide your spare key under the doormat it apparently warps itself into a ‘come one, come all’ welcome sign.
Aiden continued to wander behind the counter and into the kitchen, his eyes squinting at the TV to make sense of what she had been watching, but quickly turned to the fridge as he tossed in the cheap six pack he had purchased to replenish his diminishing stock. “Is it a beer and film kinda night? Or are you just here to take my booze and leave me to die alone?” He questioned as he made his way toward Leah, offering over his last cold can with a childlike smile.

“I need you to come here!” Meredith mumbled, pulling the person who was next to her close to her before she even sow who it was. “Theres a guy over there who cannoy see me, do you understand? Under no circumstances!” She mumbled as she finally looked at the person, “Oh - Hi..”
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Aiden exclaimed, probably a bit too loud for her circumstances as he was pulled away. “How the hell did that become my problem?” He questioned in a whisper, his eyes flicking toward the guy in the distance, before returning to meet her face with an annoyed expression.
