i mean mara & thrawn have parallels like crazy
mara in survivor's quest looks at luke and thinks about how his idealism is what she loves about him even if she knows she no longer has that same idealism in herself
thrawn in outbound flight tells car'das not to reveal to maris that it was his fault the people on outbound flight perished because he doesn't want her to lose her idealism, because he thinks there are too few idealists in the world and knows that he is not one of them
they're both stories of lost idealism and they both lost it to similar experiences and they both still admire and defend it in others...
they're narrative foils like crazy, even in the og heir trilogy...
