Where: Chibog (Daly City) When: 2/26/2016 They've got some really good pork sisig! Crispy and great portion between onions, pork, and jalapeños! Add the lemon on top and it's perfect! Their beef kaldereta is just ok, but took it home and had it with some good ol shrimp paste! Round out the meal with some bangus sinigang and you're all set!
Where: Sam Wo (San Francisco) What: Duck or BBQ pork rice rolls?! Solid food and stuff you can't get elsewhere!

San Francisco Restaurant Week and we picked a good one! Not all participating restaurants will be good, but this one was great! They gave a small portion of the bacon chowder, which was not part of the menu, so that was a pleasant surprise. I started off with the carpaccio that was topped with capers, parmesan, and a lemon dressing. My main dish was the squid ink pasta with mixed seafood and garlic white wine sauce. Super!
We shared our desserts and got the panna cotta with chocolate and strawberry sauces. The other dessert was a tiramisu with orange grand marnier.
Where: Usagi (San Mateo)
When: 1/19/2015
Catching up with a friend back up in the Bay for the weekend! We randomly chose Usagi and it did NOT disappoint! I decided to go with their much more fancy loco moco than I’ve had anywhere before. It came with a corn chowder to start. When the main dish came out, I almost didn’t want to ruin the piece of art! The well seasoned beef patty was thick, but cooked all the way through without being dry. It had all the flavor you’d want and thensome! It’s not on the main street you’d drive through, so hopefully these photos will persuade you to give it a shot!

After an early morning 5k (Hot chocolate race) some carb-loading was much needed. Hawiian breakfast is the best! Loco moco swimming with gravy! Their katsu-moco cannot be ignored either! Get a single, double, or triple with white, brown or kimichi fried rice! The egg on top brings it all together while you snack on the spam and cheese waffle (you MUST get this). Consistently delicious, friendly service, and full stomach!

Oh yes, I had been raving about this beautiful porchetta sandwich for a long time and Michelle finally gets to try it! Welcome to the cult! Roasted pork with all the juices soaked into the bread, cracklins spread throughout, caramelized onions and arugula for some spice! Just a perfect sandwich to have before walking around the farmer’s market they have at the Ferry Building.

Decided to have the family over, so we had a bit of a feast! I bought a couple of Dungeness crab, boiled them and baked the “crab butter” aka inner goodness with some egg yolk. Made some brussel sprouts with pancetta, topped with a white wine and balsamic vinaigrette reduction and parmesan cheese. Parents brought over white fungus soup (always a crowd pleaser) and garlic noodles. Sister brought over a salad, we bought a couple of fried tilapia to add some filipino flavor into the meal. Michelle made a delicious tres leches cake to finish the meal. Stuffed!

I’ve always loved this San Francisco gem! Great to have a meal before hopping across the street for a movie. Michelle got the spaghetti and meatballs (decent sauce, meatballs were pretty good) and I got the BBQ brisket that comes w/ mashed potatoes and another side (I chose the beans). Full of flavor, super tender and plenty of meat! They cut a bunch off the roast for you, cover it with gravy, scoop some mashed potatoes onto your plate, add gravy to that, and give you some of the best beans you’ll ever have! The brisket is my favorite thing here and I’ll continue to get it every time!
Where: Lillian’s Italian Kitchen (Santa Cruz)
When: 11/8/2014
We made a trip down to Santa Cruz to check out the Monarch Butterfly migration (you should check it out during the fall season) and ended up trying this great find! I got the highly recommended lamb special with asparagus risotto. Everything just came together perfectly! The lamb was super tender, the light feta added just a bit of saltines to the meat. The risotto was cooked super nicely and had so much flavor. Hope to go back at some point soon.

Made some wonton! Been a while since I made some, but this is one of the best batches I’ve ever made. I add in some ground pork, diced shrimp, diced shiitake mushrooms, cilantro, soy sauce and corn starch (to bind). Simple chicken broth and wonton noodles with bok choy, green onions and cilantro.
Where: Tower Cafe (Sacramento) and Leatherby's Family Creamery (Citrus Heights)
When: 8/23/2014
Who: Michelle, Anthony, Charlotte, Stefanie, and Dan
Made our way out to Sac to have dinner with these peeps! I got the Jerk Chicken that came with a corn slaw. They make really good fish & chips! We drove up to Leatherby's for some homemade ice cream! We shared the black & tan. Even though I'm not much of a fan of caramel with my ice cream, their ice cream is good!
Where: One Way (Daly City)

Filipino sandwiches! Beef tapas and chicken sisig! Hella good and really affordable.

One of the best steaks I’ve ever had in my life! While most of the party got the giant Tomahawk T-Bone, I decided to get the delicious Porterhouse! Best choice I could have made. I know that the porterhouse includes pretty much what the T-bone offers, but a larger piece of the filet. Foodie secret: many restaurants serve you the filet as the filet mignon and you’ll never know the difference!

Coming home to a great meal is all a man can dream of! Quinoa with delicious salmon with a great marinade. The gailan (chinese broccoli) was nicely done. I'm a lucky guy!
Where: Jollibee (Daly City)
When: 7/25/2014
Brought home some food to eat at our new place! The sweet spaghetti with hotdogs is nothing fancy, but is something you'd crave! Their chicken is pretty decent with rice and a sauce that takes a bit getting used to. Filipino fast food is better than American fast food!
