i admit i am getting wary whenever people vaguepost about a fandom being 'full of drama' because a lot of people seem to use 'drama' as a synonym for like. discussions of bigotry and bias in media. which is so very much not the same thing and it hurts my head to see it conflated with shipping wars and headcanon discourse.

Every time someone says "I don't pay attention to fandom drama" and the "drama" is a Black or brown person getting dogpiled for wanted to be treated with respect. But then turn around and go "I didn't know that this sort of thing was happening!" Well you didn't care to look, either 😬

also (i had too much caffeine) can't quite decide if i want this blog to be where i post some art i make, like crochet, sewing, and cross-stitch.

i'm so blessed to have friends that i can message pics of these things sometimes, but they aren't crafters, and i want to meet new people who are 🥺

part of me is also sad that the times we live in means we have to resort to posts or stories just to update people about our lives instead of regular conversations with folk we regularly keep in touch with. it makes me feel like i'm attention-grabbing rather than trying to make connections

absolutely thriving today bc i was talking to a publisher who had so many thoughts on y esteryear. she’s brown, hijabi, and also a business owner.

and it just struck me how so many yankees are too busy thinking how backwards we are, while celebrating reductive authors like marjarnie taylor satrapigreen, to even conceptualize that there are such brilliant muslim women out there having a conversation like this, who aren’t tradwives, nor promote that kind of lifestyle, and have to fight against that constant propaganda, even from “allies”

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
