KODAKA’S NEW GAME
Ok so the new game called ‘Death March Club’ (supposedly coming out around 2020) is another ‘killing game’ kinda thing where students murder each other. Uchikoshi is making the game (creator of the zero escape games) in partnership with Kodaka. It’s not a visual novel and will have puzzles and action sections. There are also gonna be 12 kids all around aged 12 (AGED 12?!!). Kodaka has said he doesn’t want to needlessly step up the brutality of the games.
Masafumi Takada is working on the soundtrack. Character designers from Danganronpa will also be working on this. The game is a ‘side-scrolling game’ (similar to a 2d platform kind of thing) and will have more 3D elements. Like I said before it will not play like a visual novel, and will have more puzzle and action elements.
The story will follow a young boy called ‘Reycho’ and his friend ‘Vanilla’ and will be set in an underwater amusement park. All the elementary school students are in a ‘LOSER’ class for odd-balls and dropouts etc., but their school bus is caught in a rockslide landing them in the underwater amusement park/killing game led by a clown.
My thoughts: honestly I have no idea with this. The thought of them all being like 12 unnerves me but the excuse given is the ‘different way of approaching situations and problems’ that younger kids have. The Pokémon-esque art style is also unsettling tbh but I guess again that’s kind of the point. I’m obviously intrigued as a fan of Danganronpa but I’m also wary, hopefully we’ll get more information in 2019!
