Its Keiji’s birthday today so can we get a himari and keiji drabble ?😭
The sun was just beginning to dip below the horizon, its orange hues painting the kitchen walls as you surveyed the scene. Himari stood on a chair pulled up to the counter, her tiny hands eagerly digging through sprinkles as though they were treasure. Beside her, Bokuto, donned in a frilly apron you made him wear, was holding a piping bag filled with frosting like it was a weapon he didn’t quite know how to use.
“Uncle Bo-kun, not like that!” Himari scolded, her little brows furrowing as she watched him try to write “Happy Birthday” on the cake. The letters were wobbly, sliding dangerously close to the edge of the chocolate frosting.
“Eh?! I’m trying, Baby Owl!” Bokuto wailed, stepping back with the grace of a man who knew he was in trouble. “This stuff is slippery!”
Himari sighed dramatically, a move she must’ve picked up from her father. She placed her hands on her hips. “You have to be gentle. Like Daddy is with his books.”
That earned a laugh from you as you whisked batter for cupcakes. “Himari, your dad’s going to think we hired a toddler and a man-child to bake his birthday cake.”
Bokuto gasped in mock offense. “Hey, I’m trying my best! Besides,” he puffed up his chest and pointed at the cupcakes in the oven, “I didn’t burn those!”
“Because I set the timer,” you teased.
Bokuto grumbled but couldn’t hide his grin. He leaned closer to Himari, lowering his voice like they were conspiring. “Your mama’s mean to me.”
Himari giggled, patting his cheek with sticky hands. “Mama’s funny.”
You turned your attention to frosting the cooled cupcakes, letting the sugar-sweet chaos of Himari and Bokuto fill the room. This wasn’t just about the cake or the decorations—this was about the man you both adored. Akaashi Keiji, your husband and Himari’s favorite person in the world, deserved this surprise more than anyone.
You glanced at the clock. Thirty minutes before Akaashi would be home. The apartment was already decorated with soft gold and navy streamers (his favorite colors), and Himari had been buzzing with excitement all day. She had insisted on helping with everything, from blowing up balloons to picking the cake flavor.
“Uncle Bo-kun,” Himari said, pointing at the half-written “Happy Birthday” on the cake. “We need sprinkles now!”
“Oh, sprinkles I can handle!” Bokuto said confidently, grabbing the jar. But as he opened it, the top popped off, and a cascade of rainbow sprinkles poured onto the cake, the counter, and the floor.
“Ahhh! Uncle Bo-kun!” Himari shrieked, though she was laughing so hard she could barely stand.
You turned just in time to see Bokuto freeze, hands raised like a criminal caught in the act. “Uh... artistic choice?”
You couldn’t help but laugh as you grabbed a towel to clean the mess. “Keiji’s going to love this cake, sprinkles and all.”
Himari nodded, her curls bouncing. “It’s perfect! Daddy loves sprinkles.”
Bokuto chuckled, ruffling her hair. “That’s the spirit, Baby Owl.”
Finally, the cake was as finished as it was going to get, and the three of you set to cleaning up. Himari carried her tiny toy broom, diligently sweeping up sprinkles with more enthusiasm than effectiveness. Bokuto took charge of the decorations, his competitive spirit kicking in as he arranged the balloons to “perfection.”
By the time Akaashi’s key turned in the lock, the apartment was dimmed, and the three of you were hidden behind the couch. Himari’s tiny giggles were barely stifled as she clutched Bokuto’s hand, ready to jump out.
The door opened, and Akaashi stepped in, his tie loosened and his usual calm demeanor softening as he glanced around the room.
“Hello?” he called, his brow furrowing when he noticed the dim lighting. “Is something—”
“Surprise!” Himari shouted, leaping up with Bokuto close behind. She ran to Akaashi, arms wide, and he caught her effortlessly, his face breaking into a rare, brilliant smile.
“Happy birthday, Daddy!” Himari declared, throwing her arms around his neck.
“Thank you, my sweet girl,” Akaashi said, his voice warm as he kissed her cheek. His eyes flicked to you, and you stepped closer, holding out a cupcake with a single lit candle.
“Happy birthday, love,” you said softly.
He reached out, pulling you and Himari into a hug before blowing out the candle. “You all did this for me?”
“Of course!” Bokuto said, slinging an arm around Akaashi’s shoulders. “You deserve it, man. Even if Himari here did most of the work.”
Himari beamed. “I helped bake the cake, Daddy! It has lots of sprinkles. Uncle Bo-kun spilled them.”
Akaashi chuckled, his gaze lingering on you. “It’s perfect. Thank you.”
The night was filled with laughter, messy frosting-covered fingers, and Himari insisting on singing “Happy Birthday” three times in a row. As Akaashi sat on the couch, Himari curled up in his lap and you leaning against his side, he couldn’t stop thinking about how lucky he was.
It wasn’t just a birthday—it was another day he got to spend with the two people who made his world brighter.
