This Roman fresco exemplifies the Second Style of Pompeian wall painting, characterised by architectural illusions.

The work originally came from the Villa of Publius Fannius Sinistor in Boscoreale, near Pompeii, and dates from approximately 43–30 BC.

The fresco is currently part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Actualmente, el fresco forma parte de la colección del Museo Metropolitano de Arte de New York.

Scena Illustrata was a popular Italian cultural and educational magazine, founded in Florence in 1884 by Pilade Pollazzi (1852–1940). Originally launched as a biweekly publication covering literature, art, theatre, current affairs, and sports, it emerged following the closure of Corriere di Firenze (1865–1884) and the theatrical publication Carlo Goldoni.

For more than a century, Scena Illustrata documented the evolution of Italian society and 20th-century culture. Richly illustrated with engravings and photographs, it featured reports from Italy and across Europe while paying close attention to social change, technological progress, and emerging artistic avant-garde movements.
