The son of many lands, filmmaker and eye gazer, dancer and storyteller, Alex brings you a very unique experience. Give him a word, he’ll give you a story; give him a theme, he’ll give you a world. Funny or sweet, cheeky or quirky, erotic or dramatic, Alex will give you a tale that entertains and inspires the guests at small intimate dinners, big fun parties, corporate events or festivals. STORY ALCHEMY is an interactive experience that demonstrates the magic of a good story, and empowers the audience to think of themselves as storytellers. ALEX, THE STORY ALCHEMIST conjures up a tale 'on the spot'. Taking random elements offered by the audience - a theme, a genre, a name, a colour, a place, an object or similar - he weaves them all into a brand new coherent and exciting narrative. STORY ALCHEMY CIRCLES are lots of fun. The gathered audience is immersed in a brand new story Alex creates for them out of a few random words they have offered. A unique opportunity to entertain and inspire guests at small private events, big parties and business events. STORY ALCHEMY WORKSHOPS offer both the tale and the learning. In Part One, Alex conjures up a story, in Part Two he explains the methods he used - three-act structure, coming up with gripping events, intriguing characters and more. In Part Three, the audience gets to examine possible practical applications of what they've learned - improving communications, team building, winning steak-holder support and more.

THE POWER OF STORY

Stories are part of the very essence of being human. For a million years we made up stories to make sense of life, we told stories to share the things we fear and things we desire.

This primal need is still in us. We don't often sit around the fire, nowadays, but we download books, we binge-watch series, we gorge on stories with the same enthusiasm as our ancestors. Media knows this, politicians know it, smart business knows it; they all try to get to us by creating narratives we can relate to, narratives we can - often literally - buy into.

To tell a good story, then, isn't merely an artistic endeavour, it's a survival technique, essential in our understanding of the world and in communicating our thoughts and needs with those around us. Every parent needs this talent, every leader and employer, every friend and lover, every human being. The good news is, it's a talent we can all develop.

Alex cuts a charismatic figure with a deep warm tone of voice that compels attention. His affability and charm seem to encourage the audience to participate and though none of us had any idea what to expect we were soon enthralled by the saucy stories he began to spin. Before we knew it, we were woven into a web of delicious reveries that made us laugh and gasp in turn at their daring. If the others sharing this experience were as carried away with the bard’s tales, as I was, then we left with plenty of fuel for our own flights of fantasy and perhaps even ideas for future encounters.
