Was looking around the village but couldn’t see anyone around! 👀 Wondering what happened!? 🤔 And suddenly noticed everyone went to buy grain! Perhaps there is a famine on the way!! 😅
Taken to the logical conclusion: Seems my first NPC AI test sucks 🙈

The original drop shadow filter was not working with instanced geometries so I needed to tweak it a bit to support instanced geometries. Unlike JME’s realistic shadow filter which is a big performance killer, with the drop shadow filter I did not notice a performance issue.
More progress with farming stuff, here is how a 5x6 cultivated farmland looks in-game 🙂
For now, I am doing the underneath terrain painting of the land manually with a painting brush in the editor, but I am considering making this automatic like I have done for buildings and forest trees.
Started implementing a basic farm editor! For the farmer NPCs, I want to grant a piece of farmland next to their house so they can grow plants in it. Of course, they need to first dig it with a hoe before they can plant anything!😉
Integrating an auto “Navigation Shape Generator” feature into my nav shape editor tool for generating polygonal navigation shapes for buildings,… using the JTS Topology Suite Java library.
First, it generates a collection of contact points by ray casting around the building mesh:
in the second step, it creates a concave hull shape wrapping those points:
and in the last step, it simplifies the shape:
this polygonal navigation shape is then loaded at runtime to construct a dynamic Navigation Space for doing pathfinding
Improved gradient fog shader and fixed an annoying aliasing effect on the edges. Not perfect but still looks better than before :)
as a reference, this is how the old one was looking
Here is the town bakery!🙂 The baker will buy wheat from farmers and bake bread,… I will also add a windmill for grinding wheat into flour.
Animal shelters for the farm animals in my WIP game! 🙂
Besides growing farm plants, players and NPCs would also be able to raise chickens, goats, cows, and sheep on the farm.
Today added a seed merchant shop for my RPG game. A place for players or NPC farmers to buy fruit/vegetable seeds for planting...
Recently added a procedural terrain painter to my game editor. It looks for forest trees and paints some foliage texture underneath. This is how it looks before and after.
Added a greengrocery store for my RPG game town. It will be the place for NPCs and players to sell/buy farm products. Also, it will be the raw cooking material supplier for inns,…
