…..not even six hours later i got an offer of a well paying full time long-term job with free room and board in queens in nyc, allowing me independence and a way to escape an abusive situation and an unhealthy environment
likes charge reblogs cast, folks, this is the good luck post
the last time I reblogged this post right before I got a great job, in a permanent work-from-home position, with benefits, retirement, and a salary literally 3x what I was making before, doing something I really like.
i was in the physics lab today and we were working with lasers, so the Lab Freaks (legal name) were being very careful to stress that we Do Not Turn Around or Look Behind Us because we’ll get extremely blinded by the power of high strength lasers
and i’m not gonna lie it was actually extremely hard to resist turning around. i misjudged orpheus it turns out this isnt extremely easy actually
There's something weirdly poetic of having Akaza fight Giyuu at the very end
.
.
.
U have 2 ppl who have lost someone incredibly close to them that they each loved dearly. That each drove them to do their absolute best to grow stronger to be worthy of them. Whose mementos they each wear either in their colors or in literal clothing. Who were their reasons to protect those who weren't strong enough to protect themselves. Who they couldn't get to in time to save
Except Akaza fought to grow strong before he lost his person, reformed himself to be worthy enough to be at thay person's side. He wanted to protect the weak bc the weak are who give the strong purpose in being strong in the first place. His hands, once violent, became softer in order to save rather than destroy. But it wasn't enough—not bc he wasn't strong enough, but bc he literally wasn't there to keep his person safe. And then he just regressed in his rage. He's angry, he's immovable, he's stuck. Water crystallized into ice. Fighting spirit turned into explosive fireworks. He's so fundamentally changed just by meeting that person that even after Muzan fucks with his brain and turns him into a demon, he can't ever truly forget them. Their name is on his skin. The color of their kimono is in his hair. He refuses to eat a specific subset of ppl. Akaza desperately strives to become strong, to become stronger, no matter if he's just stuck never getting there anymore. I don't think he could no matter if he ate half the population.
Then u have Giyuu, who lost Sabito and desperately fought to become stronger after the fact. Not bc he wasn't trying to be strong beforehand, but bc survivors guilt is one hell of a drug, the last thing Sabito ever told him was to get his shit together and stop demeaning himself and be strong, and he needed something to justify his existence when Sabito wasn't allowed that luxury. Rather than stagnate, he grew. Flourished in some ways as the Water Pillar even if he refused to see it. That was meant to be Sabito's, after all. Not his. He stayed a flowing stream that steadily fed into an ocean. He used Water breathing defensively, became a barrier of water to keep harm from coming to those he cares for. Became water itself, honestly, despite being so introverted and awkward and oblivious, bc he just takes everything in stride, adapts, and moves forward
And u have these two painfully similar ppl fight, evenly matched. So evenly matched that neither can actually land a killing blow. It's the most fucked up stalemate imaginable for them both. Akaza, who lost himself in his loss; Giyuu, who found his footing in his loss. Ice slicing through water; water absorbing ice into itself
But it's Tanjiro that leads to there being a victory at all. And y'all can bitch and moan about that being Protagonist Bullshit™, but I think it's fitting. The Sun melts ice back to water. The Sun returns it to original form. Flame can't do that. Not in the same fashion, at least. Rengoku was a blazing flame that would scorch Akaza to nothing, but that's not what he needed to finally wake up. And it's only once he melts that Akaza remembers himself at all. That he even begins to question what the fuck the point of it all even is. It's that single moment of clarity that brings him back to himself. That lets him finally stop fighting. Fitting, too, that the Sun is what finally burns away Muzan's influence that led him to forget what always mattered most to him. That guides him away from that fog back to the one person that mattered most to Akaza
Idk, I have a Lot of Feelings about this after seeing it animated. Akaza just wanted his Koyuki back. Giyuu was big mad about his back hurting. So real of him. Love my dumbass Water Pillar

Learning that Homestuck is gonna be animated, Toby Fox is voicing Egbert, and Vivziepop is animating the series is nowhere near as horrifying as the fact that this means the general normie public, with their sudden surge of Puritan brain rot illiteracy, will be exposed to quadrant relationship dynamics and I am not strong enough to sit through the absolute brain dead takes this is going to create
if you told diogenes the cynic about being trans he'd be like "lol that's a sick troll you're epic" and you'd be like "diogenes no i'm serious" and he'd be like "lol that's even better lmao those guys are so mad about it" and then he'd start going by new original neopronouns every single day specifically to piss off the whole symposium
I just had an idea for a really dumb comedy sketch where a transphobe starts ranting about what really makes a women a woman, and diogenes returns each time with a different cis woman or outwardly femme intersex person that doesn't meet the criteria saying "behold, a man!"
"a woman has XX chromosomes"
*Diogenes with an androgen insensitive XY cis woman*: behold, a man!
"Nono, a woman can bear children!"
*Diogenes with someone who has medical complications associated with pregnancy*: "behold, a man!"
"nono, a woman produces the large gamete"
*Diogenes with a postmenopausal cis woman* "behold, a man!"
