♡♠♢♣ ⁀ The whole party ceases, still as a painting at the sound of his door opening. Yes, he even makes the pawns play pretend as guests, why oughtn't he? But the sight of white causes him no distress, merely curiosity.

❝ White Rabbit..? Curiouser and curiouser... Well-- you aren't late, you aren't even early... for that matter you weren't invited at all today, so I must say, what exactly made you come all this way..?  ❞ And suddenly, he's jumped up from his lazing position laying against his chair and scoffs as he grabs forth his tea and a slice of toast, dunking it.

❝ Oh-- you had better not need your watch fixed again, rabbit, I haven't the time to give you the time again-- I'm out of butter and I've too many kettles on the eye as it is... ❞ He hides his strange eyes under his hat as he glances away, only a grin remaining. ❝ Have you noticed? There's trouble brewing. I can tell... ❞ Not that he liked to get involved with politics, of course, but rumors always find the tea table.

"An adven-" He's dragged up to his feet before he can fully grasp the situation, but doesn't put up any resistance, following along. Was he going to regret subjecting himself to what would definitely be an utterly silly evening? Maybe. But for now he's just going to let it happen. And hell, maybe he won't regret it and he'll actually have fun for once

"Sink? You're gonna have to fill me in here, Jervis. Why are we sinking?" Despite the question he does climb up onto the couch, eyeing the floor as if it would magically liquify before his eyes.

" Our ship has wrecked, crashed against the rocks! That's why we've moved to sturdy ground, if not we would be surely drowned! " He exposits, tone a bubbly mix between grievous and smiling with excitement as he looks to them, fingerless gloves sprawling out in awe. He steadies himself on the back of the couch as he nearly loses balance from the softness of the cushion, looking down as well as if he may really see the water. " Not the easiest start to our expedition but we mustn't let this dash our hopes. Come, come come-- Forward, Doctor Nygma! " Yes, it seems he has decided they have a doctorate in something now. He is crawling along the back of the sofa now, with all the care of someone avoiding slipping, trying to reach another ledge. " We will salvage what supplies we can for the journey before we go ashore! If nothing else I'm saving the tea! "

"hmm...Curiouser and curiouser." Jervis hummed to himself as he took note of the details around him properly. If this were any other situation that wasn't an extremely vulnerable position...he'd linger longer to examine all the little trinkets and oddities. Some seeming very in line with his interests which made him conflicted, reaching out for just a moment in want but...no, no. Jervis retracted his hand, it wasn't the time.

His steps that were initially made with care to make as little noise as possible easing into something more relaxed. Whomever had lived her hadn't answered as far as he heard, so maybe it was just his luck! That hope was very quickly and thoroughly dashed as he stepped right into one of the men. Jervis' gaze meeting with vacant eyes behind dulled white rabbit masks, something familiar yet unfamiliar.

"Tea?" the rogue repeated at first, giving a tilt of his head and drumming his fingers against his cheek in thought. Sizing up the two men in front of him then giving a sigh, letting his hand fall to his side.

"Well, a spot of tea always brings up the spirits." was the chipper response, choosing to mask his nervousness. "Why not? Besides, I'd like to see who "we" entails if it's more than you two."

♡♠♢♣ ⁀ They change from a slinking walk to a dandy skipping motion as he replies, quick in their bouncing to go behind them, wrap their arms amidst their shoulders in a friendly way, and shove lead them excitedly through doors. ' So polite! No fuss, no fight. So nice to have a guest that acts right. ' They chirp, nearly managing gladness in their emotion.

He's led to one last old wooden door, of which one rabbit departs to prepare to open it for them, and it bows as it does so, though what he opens up to is a very dark room. They're not let go of, not until they're led further in and sat down in a chair, pushed in and all. Only then does the rabbit step back to block the only exit. There was a decaying sconce of light over them but only one source of light on the far end of the room-- moonlight, coming from the window behind what was practically a shadow in silhouette, an armchair too big to make out what sat in it. They were on opposite sides of a table so long it met from their end to the other's. But they would quickly know who was there, when he couldn't help but speak.

" And what-- pray tell-- is this supposed to be..? " An eccentric voice with a lingering English accent seemed to uncontrollably laugh after it suddenly clinked its teacup to the saucer. " Look at you-- You came dressed for the party-- no one EVER comes dressed for the party..! " He sounds nearly touched by the gesture. Then a noise, the table was creaking, but only as he stepped further into view did it become clear he was walking across the table toward them, his small feet so expertly avoiding knocking silverware. " Be still, be still-- let me see your frankly... quite... frabjous hat... " And with a click, he reached up on his toes and pulled a ceiling lamp's light cord, immediately illuminating the room, and him in turn. A man old enough to have a few gray hairs and an outfit near as much patches as it was leather. His eyes seemed to vibrate like a strummed chord before it locked squarely on them, and he was strapped in buckles and cases as if he might try to survive an apocalypse. But a Hatter, unmistakably.

" I would ask you where you bought it but it seems you forgot to remove... the tag. " He points a calloused finger at the matching 10/6 on their head. " A clever disguise! But~ a real pawn only speaks when spoken to. " He clasps his hands and offers them a pleasant grin, before he glares.

" -- Explain yourself. " He abruptly takes a very stern tone, as if he had changed personality entirely, and he says these three words in only that way that he must say it. " Who... are you? "

"You are more lucid today, so I imagine you would be," she chuckled. He can ask his questions once they were a bit into the tunnels. First, it was getting there.

It's reassuring to her that she needn't worry about other patients. Not that she really worried Jervis would be the one to pick a fight, but sometimes they broke out nonetheless. She stayed with him. Leading through a couple of other turns before gesturing to the stone wall.

"My crest," she answered. Not a particularly large thing carved into the stonery, but it went unnoticed here for the most part. The two A's inverted to each other like a diamond with a circle around it.

"Everyone always assumes the wrong words- Asylum, Amadeus- " Alienor. "Arkham's the only one that's right in their guesses. I digress, the Court did a good job of erasing Amity." There's not time to linger on the sadness in her voice.

"You'll need to push on it very hard. It's not been used in some time." The hidden door seemed to still be intact, and her earlier stay though some of the tunnels made it seem stable, but still. "The Lydeckers owed me a debt, and have spent a many generations paying it off while they built the city. They don't mark these on their plans. The Crocodile one managed to find one last time he got out." She assumed he'd smelled something through it to find it.

♡♠♢♣ ⁀ As he suspected, what little other inmates they passed on this unusual route paid the often dismissed hatter little mind, rumors of how he's prone to 'keeping' those he takes with him likely warded off any attempts to even ask to follow him out. He much preferred his reputation that way, in this case.

Their answer pulls his attention from the stone to the spirit. " Amity Arkham... " He realizes aloud, but he's urged to continue, and he prays the muscle he's built from this life of crime is enough to budge it. He places his shoulder against it and barges with his whole weight, feeling it crack loose. " Hooray! " He quite literally cheers, a quick fluttering clap as he regains his footing.

" You'll have to forgive my ignorance, I'm not from around here, my history of Gotham is quite minimal... Why did they... make you these hidden tunnels, Ms. Amity, if you don't mind my asking? " He wonders as he enters with them, no real reason to know-- merely curious as always. He closes the way off behind them, but he appears to literally jump at the mention of a certain jaws that bite. " Crocodile-- a-as in the killer one, you mean? " He was... on only mildly friendly terms with the Croc, as good as any could be, when he wasn't hungry. " You don't suppose he's in here with us..? " He could try hypnosis, he was susceptible to it, but... its likely to make him hold a grudge later, you see.
