This week’s drawing challenge with moddraws and lazerwitch was to create our own Moonbeam City character in the style of Nagel.

This is Spectra Palomar. Born the transgender daughter of Rex and Lucy Palomar, wealthy Louisianan oil tycoons who wanted Spectra to take over the family business under their own oppressive terms. But ever since she was little, Spectra knew three things; 1) She wasn’t a boy, 2) she wanted to dance, and 3) she hated oil.
Spectra quickly left home and fell in with the Bleeding Earth Liberation Front, a militant eco-terrorist group specializing in animal rescue, mechanical sabotage, and in later years, arson. Having always hated her father’s oil business and seeing its effects on Mother Nature made the BELF an easy fit for Spectra. She became a leader type and fought to show the world that BELF wasn’t the eco-terrorists, oil companies were.
After a particularly destructive stunt against her father’s own company, several members of BELF, including herself, were arrested. Rex Palomar dropped the charges against his daughter on the terms that she would quit her activism and get out of their lives forever.
Having evaded significant jail time, Spectra moved to Hollywood to take back up her first love, dance. Her natural talent has garnered her a spot as one of the world’s leading choreographers to the stars.
And while she relishes a career in yelling at celebrities and watching them sweat their egos off, sometimes the thing she likes most is to go home, put on The Power Station, dim the lights, sit back in her leather recliner, light a Virginia Slim, and imagine a big, bright oil field at night....burning to the ground.
