A fantasy story that starts off like any other and after some time a character's six'th finger gets mentioned off-handedly that makes you go 'huh, I guess this one just has six fingers one one hand' but as time goes on more and more such possible-but-statistically-unlikely body features get mentioned for different characters until you get a passage where the main character breaks their third left leg or something at which point you realize that you very wrongly assumed that everyone was human because nothing else was implied but now it looks like the species of sentient beings that the book is about has at best only some vaguely human features but the story doesn't even frame that as a revelation or something because it would of course be the most normal thing for the characters to not be human and goes on without looking twice at the fact that everyone has ten legs on each side
