"Luigi" is generally held to originate with a separate figure from a series of chthonic myths, who originally served as a sort of psychopomp charged with capturing spirits that escaped the underworld. The strongest case for a contemporary figure named Luigi comes from the Waffle Kingdom sagas; however, this Luigi's brother is a gladiator named Gonzales.

now I know that there's no way for me to respond to this without a bunch of fans of the modern adaptations ruining my inbox for the next week, but there's no evidence of Waluigi - or indeed Luigi - in any of the contemporary versions of the Mario-Wario sagas. The name "Wario" itself is a later invention, held to be a pun on warui that likely emerged after the adoption of Japanese scripts in the Koopa States.

The conflict between Mario and his "boyhood rival" was one over political influence on his home island and Mario's long absences - in particular his trip to Sarasaland. While later Sarasan sources would heavily reference Mario's brother, he is absent from both the preceding narrative and the unrest in Mario's homeland. The historical consensus is that the Sarasaland journey was one of Mario's earliest wanderings, with his brother attempting to manage affairs in his absence and proving unfit. The invention of a separate "Wario" character and its development into an explicit coup d'etat were later poetic creations, as is distancing of the "Wario" figure from the later depictions of Mario's brother as the more cowardly and reserved "Luigi".

(As an aside: "Mario Land" is a mistranslation. The original Mushroomer and Sarasan chronicles are better translated as "the land of Mario", without connotations of ownership. Magic Forge: Realm of Legends

I realize I never posted about this here, but a big part of what has pulled me away from writing this year has been that I made a quite extensive full conversion mod for Magic the Gathering Forge, a magic fangame.

Mine is called "Realm of Legends" and its commander based.

Similar to the old 1997 Magic Shandalar PC game, its an open world RPG using magic as the primary mechanic. Over 850 unique enemies, over 120 custom dungeons with over 200 bosses, plus over 300 special items to affect how you start a duel and allow interesting new strategies!

I wrote a guide for it, which includes install instructions. If you like magic, you should check it out! Forge has literally every black border card ever made and a good chunk of non-legal cards too, and is totally free and very, very fun. Its maintained and updated by a hard working team of volunteers who have been keeping it updated with every new set for over a decade, even as that's gotten harder with the crazy pace of modern releases.

There's an old-frame only adventure mode I did a lot of work on as well as other modes like the original adventure mode that isn't commander-based and quest mode which drops the RPG element for more of a Balatro-style interface. There's also peer to peer multiplayer.

Golp: roundel purpure (purple) 🟣

If your field is strewn with roundels, you can describe it appropriately as being bezanty, hurty, golpy, and so on.
