kataang shippers just jealous that zutara actually has ground
Yes, you’re right anon. It’s lying under six feet of it.
Hello 911? I’d like to report a murder
heyy what happened to alittletoosour why is it archived
I sorta addressed this in my last post on alittletoosour, but to make it clear, I was just … really tired of it. Alittletoosour was meant as a place for me to vent and complain about the tom foolery that went on in this fandom, and while it was nice to see other recognized it, it got draining after a while.
At one point I even started writing brief analysis, and it was fun for at first, but it’s never what I really set out to do (hence, why it was always so brief). I even had a couple debates with some people - some of those people were nice, others … not so much.
But I guess my point is, I just didn’t enjoy running alittletoosour. I didn’t have some lengthy reason to give for leaving, so I just closed up shop. I didn’t want to go as far as deleting the blog though, because I thought some of the things I had said were worth leaving for others to see.
Nowadays, whenever I get annoyed with stans, I just leave it be. It’s not really worth stirring the pot anymore. It feels like all the discourse has really simmered down, anyways. I mean, I haven’t seen people bickering with eachother for a bit, so that’s good. I just think people have learned to stay in their lanes, even if they’ve still retained their rude and entitled behavior.
TL;DR: Feeding into your own negativity is never really worth it, especially over something as nonconsequential as internet fandoms. It was nice while it lasted, but I think I’ve moved on.
Aang is nothing but a ozai 2.0 . He clearly favoritsm over tenzin just because he is a airbender and abandon Bumi and Kya. Really look like how Ozai favoritsim over a psycho-brat Azula and abandon poor zuko !!!
This blog has been inactive for … two months, I think? Maybe less. And I didn’t think I was coming back for a while longer. Y’know, negativity really leeches on your life force, and it’s not worth it, especially when it’s over fandom related things.
But, I think you just prompted a temporary revival, buddy.
I think this is a troll ask with the way this is worded, but you never really know. I’ve actually seen a post similar to this, and it was stupid. This ask is stupid too, but because I know some people actually think this way, I’ll respond to it.
Ozai was a manipulative, power hungry man. He mamed and banished his own son for speaking out during a war meeting. He would have killed Zuko if Ursa hadn’t intervened. He instilled so much fear into Azula, he had her terrified for even speaking out against him. He molded her to be his own child soldier.
Now let me make something clear: I don’t like how Aang was portrayed in The Legend of Korra. For him to supposedly play favorites and spend significantly more time with Tenzin than with his other children was incredibly OOC. And, even if it was in character, Katara wouldn’t have allowed it (Katara was also cheated in TLOK, fyi).
But, let’s disregard all of that and look at what happened. Maybe you have a point, maybe Aang and Ozai are comparable. So, what did Aang do to have his children up in arms about?
From Civil Wars, Part 1
Bumi: [To Tenzin.] Well, lookee here, “Vacation Tenzin” has finally decided to join us.Tenzin: Yes, he has. [Carries Rohan from his wife.] It’s so nice to get to spend more time with my family. [To Rohan.] Isn’t that right, my little Rohan? [Rohan smiles and coos. To Kya and Bumi.] And I’ve really enjoyed having you two around. Reminds me of all those great vacations we took as kids with Dad.Kya: Uhh, I think your memory’s a little foggy. [Frowns.] Bumi and I weren’t on those great vacations. It was always just you and Dad.Tenzin: [Thinking.] No, that can’t be right. What about the time he took us to Kyoshi Island to ride the elephant koi?Kya: Nope, we weren’t there.Tenzin: Hmm. Oh, remember Ember Island? Those amazing sand palaces we built on the beach.Bumi: You mean, you built? We never saw the place.
So … Aang took Tenzin on some cool trips that Kya and Bumi didn’t get to go on. While that must of really sucked for Kya and Bumi, it is not at all comparable to the experiences of Zuko and Azula. Aang’s children bickered with each other as a result of his neglect; Ozai’s children, on the other hand, were pitted against each other. Azula was always held up to the perfect standard, a standard that always had to be higher than Zuko’s; Zuko was forced to work for Ozai’s “love”, the “love” that Azula always had. This tension between them - this tension put on their relationship by Ozai - is what turned a brother and sister chasing each other in the palace gardens,
into two teenagers prepared to have to kill the other.
And to try and compare that to the melodramatic conflict between Kya, Bumi, and Tenzin really trivializes the abuse Ozai inflicted on Azula and Zuko.
This right here is probably the most dickish thing Zuko has ever done. I mean, I know he’s an insensitive asshat something like 60% of the time, but wow. Mocking one of your only friends’ culture… which your family is directly responsible for the slaughter of… yeah, seems like an awesome plan.
Top that with the fact that he’s mocking the very same beliefs and morals that allowed him to join the group in the first place. Yes, Zuko is a dick. But this was just going too far.
Send me a ship and I'll give you my (brutally) honest opinion on it
bryke have zero understanding of zuko’s personality nor of his character arc, also they just don’t care: the tl;dr version (with pictures)
Zuko’s face when his Uncle says something that is clearly painful for him to say:
directed by: Dave Filoni
Zuko’s face when Zhao, a man that repeatedly mocked, belittled and tried to kill him is in mortal peril:
directed by: Dave Filoni
Zuko’s face when a girl he just met shows him a scar (which is to say, a years old injury, long healed):
directed by: Lauren MacMullan
Zuko’s face when contemplating Iroh’s pain about Lu Ten’s death:
directed by: Lauren MacMullan
Zuko’s face when Azula burns Iroh:
directed by: Giancarlo Volpe
Zuko’s face when a twelve year old boy, who repeatedly saved his life, gets shot by lightning:
directed by: Michael Dante DiMartino
This is awfully misleading.
Zuko is a complex character. He is capable of both good and bad. He may not be a malicious person, but that doesn’t mean he can’t lack compassion for certain people.
A) He’s had connections with these people. Iroh? His father figure. Zhao? A man of his country. The girl he had just met? He related to her because they both bared scars from the Fire Nation. That’s how he was able to immediately sympathize with Katara - they both had their mothers taken away. And don’t forget Jet, they were both refugees and considered enemies of the Fire Nation.
Aang, on the other hand? He had spent the past three years of his life searching for the Avatar, and now he finally had the oppurtunity to capture him. He had no reason to feel bad for Aang. He was a means to an end for Zuko. The first time Aang saved him, Zuko attacked him, and the second time he ran off.
B) You know who wrote Sozin’s Comet, Part 4: Avatar Aang? Bryke. And you know how Zuko reacts when Azula finally breaks down? He watches silently. It’s not a triumphant moment; it’s sad and heartbreaking. He watched Azula, screaming, crying, thrashing on the floor, and you can tell he’s conflicted. She’s hurt, manipulated, and nearly killed him twice, and he’s still conflicted. Why? Because that’s his sister, and he knows she’s in pain.
Bryke aren’t the best writers. I’m not here trying to say that, but they aren’t awful either. It’s a bit of a stretch to say they have absolutely no grasp of Zuko’s character.
C) … however, I don’t even know if points A and B are relevant, because you’ve screencapped a single frame where Zuko’s face is so pixelated, you can’t make out his expression. Is he scared? Shocked? Happy? Sad? You don’t know, because his face looks like this:
The focus of this scene was on Katara and her shock, anguish, and fury, not Zuko’s … whatever this translates to.
quick reminder: calling out antis on their hypocritical and nasty behavior doesn't make you an anti yourself
Why do you even need to make “Aang defence” post?
Zutarians is so annoying and full of hypocrite people and They also always croostaging their shitty posting like a attention-seeker whore -_-
Uh … let’s not use that language here, please? I try to keep this space respectful and polite, even if I myself am snarky from time to time.
Onto the subject matter - I don’t ever really see Zutara stans (please, let’s be specific here, there are many enthusiastic Zutara fans who are lovely people) cross-tagging. In fact, I see a lot even go as far as to censor their posts so if someone uses the general search (different from tag search) to look up Kataang or Aang (like A@ng), it won’t show up.
But, yeah, a lot of stans can be hypocritical. I guess they want to prove that their ship is the best, so they try and nitpick or over exaggerate certain things. It just feels like Zutara stans specifically have cultivated this very niche group where inaccurate metas and interpretations breed. It’s like an echo chamber. They’re critics who can’t take criticism on how they criticize things.
Unpopular opinion: Aang wasn't a bad father. Sure, he wasn't a great one in my opinion, but even Bryke admitted that the whole LOK drama was blown out of proportion. I think if we got Katara's POV in LOK then it would fix a whole lot of mess, but Bryke being drama queens decided to end the whole storyline messily.
strongly agree | agree | neutral | disagree | strongly disagree
I’m 100% on board with you. It makes sense for Aang to spend a bit more time with Tenzin because, as Aang’s only Airbending child, he’s inherited the task of restoring the Air Nomads and preserving their culture. It’s a given, Tenzin was simply born with that responsibility. But … for Aang to neglect his own children? No way. I mean, how did Kya even grow up to be such a hippie? She definitely didn’t take after Katara in her fascination of “spiritual energy” and “aura”s.
The constant bickering between the Cloud Babies felt petty and unwarranted. They’re freakin’ adults, not children. It was stupid and wasted time that could have gone to something other than unnecessary drama.
With that being said, I still disagree with how they portrayed Aang and Katara. It felt so OOC. I would explain it myself, but I think this post puts it perfectly.
Sorry but though these views are valid, I have to take issue with the second paragraph since even adults can have petty family squabble and lord knows how old feelings of discontent can come out when least expected.
This is a really late response, but I just never realized you replied to this. Sorry!
I know adults can have petty fights, but it just wasn't compelling. It felt melodramatic and was pretty annoying, quite frankly. They're not teenagers (which wouldn't excuse it, but it would make more sense), and according to Bryke the fandom really over exaggerated the issue at hand. Yet, the Cloud Babies made it out to be as if Aang was a negligent father that only ever spent time with Tenzin, so ... what gives?
My point is, they shouldn't be acting that way. They're too old to act like children, and they had a much more important task at hand. If the situation can be shrugged off just by looking back at how great a family they were, then how warranted were Kya and Bumi's feelings in the first place?
why y'all complaining about aang storming off saying "the gaang was just trying to help him" when suki and sokka were laughing at him and zuko just got done mocking him
Zutara stan: Aang is so entitled and possessive...
Zuko: *sees another guy talking to his girlfriend, Mai*
Zuko: *runs up to them and pushes the guy back*
Zuko: *yells at Mai for talking with someone that isn't him*
Mai: *dumps Zuko and is visibly upset*
Zuko: *later mocks Mai and then tries to lay his hands on her two different times*
Zutara stan: ... Zuko, on the other hand, would never-
if u had to pick: zutara or makorra
Or
Aang didn't pressure Katara into dating/marrying him bye
Z/K shippers: ok but,,,,,,,, aang forced himself into a relationship w katara which is abusive uwu
Z/K shippers .5 secs later: DAMN THE SCENE WH Eere ZUKO TIES FUCKING kATAa TO A TREE THATS sOME gOod SHiT
Please do not compare Steven Universe to Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Do not compare Steven’s lack of action to Aang’s humanity and culture.
Do not compare the Diamonds and their tyrannical rule to the innocent Fire Nation people and Zuko.
Do not compare the simplified black and white conflict in SU to the morally gray issues A:TLA discusses so well.
These are two completely different shows. One fails. One succeeds.
Kill yourself
Whoooaaa, I only saw this now, and you're kinda going far here man. It's not that deep. @joshyishere7
I’m speechless. But I’d like to ask what do you think?
[I edited your picture to hide the identity of this person. I don’t want anyone saying I disrespected the privacy of this person - granted, the post is public, but I still don’t want anyone to go bug this person.]
I ... oh jeez. Okay, hiatus break, now.
I’m gonna give this person some credit where it’s due - I never liked the “he’s [A@ng] 12″ argument either. It feels excusatory of his actions, but I understand the sentiment behind it; he’s young, and he’s learning. I don’t think anyone’s actually defended what he’s done with that argument, as much as they’ve tried to explain his actions with it.
But ... god damn, they really killed me with that comparison. Suddenly, agreeing with a statement = rape, and pecking someone on the lips = murder. God, this is why I can’t take these people seriously. They blow every little mistake he’s made out of proportion, and in the process they really trivialize the thing they’re trying to fight against.
See, the thing is, people forget how A@ng immediately felt guilty for what he had done to K@tara. He realized he had done something wrong, and didn’t push push it any further. I don’t get why people feel the need to antagonize A@ng after that. I complain a little bit more about this here.
