robby's boyfriends need to unionize and stage an intervention stat

I’m really enjoying the old school shipping sensation of like cobbling Torsewell together from the scraps of a romance-lite improv show. Like it’s not crazy, there’s some rich material there, but we are absolutely polishing little twenty to forty five second nuggets of interaction which are imbedded in two hour long mosaics of an ensemble adventure. The final outcome is immaterial to me, its been a fabulous time rotating a handful of sparkly scenes in my mind and it reminds me of 2012 in a lighthearted way.

I'll be honest, more than anything, torse getting to advocate for zern and be heard with all the wind riders having his back, van standing behind him chiding the zoodians, max speaking from a place of practicality to buoy his plea for morality, his friend calling him 'an amazing being', torse being there when the man he asked to help him save his home rings a bell and gives him back the people he'd thought lost forever, so many beacons lighting and lives shining that hadn't even been in the realm of his possible hopes, collapsing in tears from the relief and shock of a miracle at the hands of the people he'd taken a leap of faith to trust,

expressing his hope and joy and comradery and trust and laughter and all the things that have been taken from him, the fuel & the lifeblood of the soul that he's been trying to substitute with rage just to survive his grief, his yearning for connection and belonging that had never been fulfilled in such an isolating world of plenty finally being honored tenfold by outworlders so like him and yet so miraculous to him,

and torse learning to find pride in his iron heart without really losing his golden one because maxwell chose to take this gift he'd been forced to break and repurpose it (give it new life, transmute its meaning, honor its sacrifice, choosing to keep it and hold it and know it) by asking marya (who deemed his iron heart worthy, knows what it means to lose and transform and persist) to turn it into knuckle dusters (weapon, protection, token, a heart wrapped around his fingers, a braid, meaning wrapping meaning wrapping a yearning fulfilled),

is all, well, really nice. it makes me really really happy, is all. his character is a sweet message of hope and persistence and the purpose of a fight, and i really love it a lot.

Brennan's acting choice to have Torse losing his golden heart not make him inherently evil or mindlessly violent, just WAY more emotional, is everything to me.

Because "I wanted a heart that couldn't feel pain or rage" now implies he probably also got a heart that couldn't feel much joy or fear or affection.

But also because "WE ARE WELL AND TRULY FUCKED. YOU'VE BROUGHT ME TO THE DEN OF EVIL. WHAT WAS THE PLAN, O-LETH-RA? WHAT WAS THE FUCKING PLAN??? *smashes a frog* WHO IS THIS FUCKING GUY???!!!"

yeah cause let's talk about autistic ass maxwell gotch who has an absolute THING about rule following. he's not fighting you with weapons, that wasn't pre-established. it'd be rude to brandish a knife after you'd already started throwing punches at each other. using your environment to your advantage? say an improvised meat grinder- well that's just what any good fighter does. you'd better not bring out a damned wing suit after he's fair and squared, threw you off a ledge.

all of this goes out the window when it comes to saving his boyfriend- a boy who is his friend who he likes- his friend from plummeting from the depths of the sky.
