I’m here for women with powerful dogs!
My land lady is a 90lb 88 year old woman with 5 full grown Rottweiler boys. They sit around her when she gardens and watch her like the secret service. If you show up to pay rent they all stand up and stand between you and her.
It’s intimidating to have 5 pony size boys all staring at you until she stands up realizes it’a you and walks to you.
My favorite part is she wades through them like swamp water saying in her cute old voice ‘move’ ‘move please’ and each one she nudges to move wags his whole body at her touch and stumbles out of the way like he’s been knocked over by a truck. It gives me life paying my rent.
please don’t call eyes “orbs”

Millennials are ruining corrupt corporate capitalism by caring about animals
Because we do research on branding and see which don’t poison or kill our pets 🙄🙄🙄🙄 but I guess the only killing that matters is another industry
Oh noo you poor name brands maybe you shouldnt have been selling us garbage to feed our fuzzy family members in tHE FIRST PLACE
This is the first time I’m seeing that millennials are ruining an industry by spending more on something. I’m glad

This is actually really good for babies’ brain development. You’re laying the groundwork for conversation, teaching them through example that people take turns talking and listening.
Did you know that babies from affluent families hear an average of thirty MILLION more words before age 5 than babies in families below the poverty line? For context, Les Miserables is about 650,000 words and it looks like this:
So it’s like reading this book 46 times.* And that’s not the total number of spoken words, that’s the GAP between affluent and poor babies. And these are the years in which the brain undergoes the most development. It’s mind-boggling.
So what I’m saying is: keep doing the thing. Do it to all babies, all the time. Narrate your day. Ask them for opinions. (“Should we buy the large bag of potatoes or the small bag?” “Gaabooglagje.” “Yes, just as I thought.”) Point out colors and shapes and letters. Let them scribble outside the lines and treat their babble like talk. Sing them nursery rhymes and Raffi songs and songs from the radio. All of these things are going to build their brains to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.
*Please do not read Les Mis 46 times to an infant. They don’t even care about the Parisian sewer system.
That last part though
The “word gap” is a major problem in schools with low income levels. We often have 7th and 8th graders come to us with 1st or 2nd grade reading levels. It’s not really anyone’s FAULT, its just that all the adults in the family are working multiple jobs and who has money for books or time for trips to the library? The word gap is the achievement gap. ( https://www.npr.org/2013/12/29/257922222/closing-the-word-gap-between-rich-and-poor )
Read to kids. Talk to kids. Let them talk to you. As much as you can, as often as you can. Kids need to read and be read to and talked to and listened to. Its critical for their development.
People think talking to the babies is like talking to a wall. It’s not. They understand. They mimic. They learn. They are the sweetest little sponges who will soak up as much as they can.
That’s the opposite of a problem
