When you think you can't lose more faith in humanity, you see the news that a 10 year old girl that has been raped since she was 6 by her uncle got pregnant, and instead of people being outraged by this fact, they are outraged because she had a abortion!!

A 10 YEAR OLD!!! A CHILD!!!

So much so that after the judge authorized the girl to have a abortion (which was not necessary since our laws authorizes in such a case), a group of religious fundamentalists went to the hospital to harass the girl and the medical team!

Every day this world breaks my heart a little more...

I wanted to post this because I thought it was sweet, but I think it’s also a good reminder to allies and also fellow lgbt members that people seeing you is important and for lgbt+ people when you are ready to come out, if you ever are (if you aren’t that’s also okay, and you should only come out if you are ready), it can make a world of difference to other people and you are doing something good!

I’ve seen a ton of posts on Twitter, retweeted by big blogs, that state JKR won’t get money from the new HP game (the tweet I replied to has at least finally been deleted). This is 100% wrong. JKR licenced the franchise to Warner Brothers and she will receive a percentage of income. This isn’t a judgement call on whether you should or shouldn’t buy the game personally I was in my 20s when the books came out, they weren’t for me plus I’ve never liked her, especially now but I really hate all the misinformation that’s flying around rn and people should make an informed decision.

There was also a really great post on why buying second hand and pirate copies was such a bad idea but of course I can’t find it now. Basically it’s not just about money but perpetuating the entire brand. A few thoughts below too on developers who of course deserve recognition for their hard work.

I feel like this is the same type of argument as crunch, which really we should just leave game developers to sort out and take our lead from as they know their industry much better than we do. Also consider that hitting corporations and wealthy creators like JKR in the wallet is the only form of protest they pay attention to if you really want your message to be received. If your concern is for game devs in this situation then read some of their discussions on this first before making a decision on where to put your hard earned cash.

Yo Biden just announced an infrastructure devolopment/clean energy/environmental justice plan and it's honesty pretty fucking amazing and much more ambitious than I ever would have expected from him, goddamn. He's trying to Eisenhower/New Deal our way out of the economic collapse.

Biden wasn’t even my fifth choice in the primaries.  But we have to focus on the general now.  There are only two possible outcomes this November.  We’ve seen how one of them turned out for us, and we all know damn well it’s only getting worse, and getting worse faster.  Do not forget that the other outcome is not just about Biden; there’s an entire Democratic platform that comes in with him, along with a complete 180 in White House staff, federal appointments, judicial confirmations, etc.  And the judicial confirmations ALONE are a huge deal.  If you are somehow NOT convinced that Biden would be better for us than Trump, I need you to understand the existential threat of these words:

Losing Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat to another Brett Kavanaugh.

Do NOT let your ideological purity put us through THAT.

Some people don’t understand this post. This post isn’t painting Hinduism and Buddhism as violent religions. This post is talking about the romanticizing of Hindus and Buddhists by the West in particular, in a very ‘can-do-no-wrong-ever,’ ‘Om,’ and ‘so-peaceful-what-is-violence-even’ manner. When in actuality, extremism and violence within Hindus and Buddhists is as rampant as the extremism and violence that exists in any other group of people who adhere to a certain religion. Be it Islam or Christianity or whatever else. A lot of people don’t address the extremism and violence within the Hindu and Buddhist communities because everyone somehow thinks Hindus and Buddhists are all peaceful people with no history of violence towards others. When in fact, there is a history of violence. 

The violence faced by the Rohingya people by the Buddhist-majority Myanmar is nothing new, though it is in the news more (not enough, though). Rohingya people have been persecuted by the Buddhist-majority of Myanmar since literally, the beginning of time. Because they are Rohingya, because they aren’t citizens of Myanmar, because they are Muslims. Hindus have committed great atrocities against Sikhs, Muslims, and Christians as well. Things like this shouldn’t go unnoticed. 

This post isn’t saying the religions are awful and violent at all. It’s saying that the people following these religions can be and in unfortunately great numbers, ARE.

Looking for assistance in getting an abortion. I recently was forced to move states because I was in a heavily toxic and physically abusive relationship. Word of advice: if possible find therapists who are trans themselves.

My therapist is a trans man and not only was he willing to give me the referral I needed after just one visit, he'll do it for people who just ask.

Also, if available in your state: Plume is a trans run healthcare service that arranges HRT and keeps track of when you need bloodwork etc. All it took was a few intake forms, a video call with a doctor, and then I was prescribed hormones. Very simple. There is a 99 membership fee, but it takes care of all of your stuff in one place that was usually be multiple doctors. I recommend it.
