has anyone else noticed that the frenchie trend seems to be finally in decline? or is that just me being hopeful.

Reblog if you too do not want to share outside with them.
Eggie is recovering well from her spay but holy shit I have never had a dog destroy every form of post-surgical gear I have tried. First she destroyed her cone, then the post-surgical suit, and now she’s started gnawing at the neck donut and I fear its days are numbered.
Thank goodness she hasn’t actually shown interest in the incision because idk how long I can do this.
As much as I cannot stand the aversive training community, I do find their psychology fascinating. Case in point, despite occurring months ago, they’ve recently started being absolutely ghoulish over [redacted trainer]’s dog dying in a horrible accident when the car AC failed. The reason? They’ve dredged up an old post where [redacted trainer] advocated crating in your car for dogs who cannot handle being out at events. And they’re parading this around like some sort of gotcha.
As far as I can tell the rational for this unbelievably cruel behavior is, “well [redacted trainer] would do this same if it happened to one of us!” Which like, A) I actually don’t think so and B) what a terrible worldview where you’re preemptively horrible to someone because you assume they’d treat you in kind? Idk embracing this sort of cruelty says a lot more about how you likely treat dogs than any argument from the force-free camp ever could.
Now it looks like she’s backed out (forced out? Idk the statement is strange) of a keynote role at a major conference due to all this harassment? I’m just feeling so angry and frustrated with this industry.
Balanced trainers constantly accuse the FF camp of being close minded and dogmatic. But I’ve hardly seen a single balanced trainer stand against this disgusting harassment campaign. Why the fuck is the conference not doing something about all the people harassing her? Why aren’t the ringleaders suffering any consequences from their own side?
My little Eggie turned one year old on Friday and I completely forgot to make her birthday post on here!
Our relationship began with her as a tiny blind hamster, and me a sleep-deprived human. She’s grown into the sweetest, silliest, little dog. I am still an often sleep-deprived human, but now I’m one with the benefit of her company.
Whether she’s at agility class, helping socialize baby puppies, or watching trash tv with me, Eggie is the sort of dog who is up for everything. She has fit in so well with Acorn and her chill personality helps balance the energy in the house.
With her sweetness comes a sensitivity that I’m still learning how to best support. She’s already made me a better trainer and I know we will continue growing together for many years to come— provided she forgives me for scheduling her spay on her birthday week! We will have a lot of fun to catch up on once she’s fully recovered. I’m so lucky to be on this journey with her.
they just added sparkledogs to the kennel club registry
they carried a generation
Ugh Eggie is getting spayed today. Vet called to say she’s doing fine but tested positive for Lyme. I’m feeling really guilty for being so bad at remembering to give the preventative on time. Also not sure what to do at this point since she’s been asymptomatic so it’s unclear if she should be treated or not. I’d like to go read more about what the evidence is BUT it’s so hard to get info online about Lyme without a bunch of pseudoscience nonsense so idek.
When you meet an unfamiliar dog, do you usually want to pet it?
I'm a dog owner, and I usually want to pet the dog
I'm a dog owner, and I usually don't want to pet the dog
I'm not a dog owner, and I usually want to pet the dog
I'm not a dog owner, and I usually don't want to pet the dog
Just assume all other parameters are neutral. It's a friendly enough dog, you're not in a rush, etc.
I'm sad so few people know what a village dog is that embark has to explain the concept of a landrace on their FAQ
"does anyone know what breed my dog is? by his looks we're guessing he's shikoku/swedish vallhund/malinois/blue lacy. adopted as a stray from rural bulgaria."

Tried to split a piece of freeze dried beef liver in half but split my thumbnail instead. Dog trainer woes.
hobbies should not take up this much space. there ought to be a hobby pocket dimension, where I am able to store everything I need in a breadbox that weighs no more than my cat.
House sitting for my friend with the Great Danes again, and again given a new appreciation for my normal-sized dogs. Bless all you giant breed owners but not for me thanks.

I had my suspicions about this story based on the lack of actual information and body-language of the dogs in the video. But I have seen several people I follow share this story so I thought I’d post the correction!
