The only remaining reference for the Helsinki-Helsingfors print by Per-Olof Nyström, 1952

“I look back through books and photos for old prints, there was one that we had where no original pieces were left, so we had to sketch again from the very beginning, it was ’Helsinki-Helsingfors Print’ designed in 1952 by Per-Olof Nyström. Nystrom’s daughters held the copyright and we only had a photo of a swatch but we couldn’t see the repeat – it was like a puzzle. Pallas-Yllästunturi NP, Muonio, Finland

“I spent the new year’s night at a wilderness cabin in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park in Finland. On the first day of the year I hiked up to the fells. The beautiful combination of sun and fog in this landscape was really beautiful. It lasted for a couple of minutes only and soon after that special light was gone.”

Winter Lights by Michael Liu Via Flickr: This photo was taken at Kilpisjarvi - Lapland, Finland. My countless sleepless nights has been answered with this trip. Months before this trip, I've been having the same reoccurring (and disturbing) dream of myself alone wondering into the deep mountains at the edge of the world in search of the Northern Lights. With strange luck and sequence of events, we found ourselves directly under the Aurora Borealis. The lights got so close and so bright the surrounding mountains lit up. Words just cannot describe the beauty of this phenomenon...

Syntyi lapsi syksyllä - tuulet niin vinhasti vinkui - tuult’ oli koko elämä, nähnyt ei kesää, ei kevättä, eli vain syksystä jouluun.

Syksyn lapsilla kiire on - päre pihdissä sammuu - aatos lentävi, aivot takoo, veri paksuna päähän sakoo, ovella Sylvester uottaa.

“Vuota vielä, oi vanha vuos!” - tuulet niin vinhasti vinkuu - “jouda en viel’ sua seuraamaan!” Vanhus ovella nyökkää vaan: “Saat elää syksystä jouluun”.
