as someone who is absolutely disgusted by the "he's bullying her because he likes her" trope, the only reason why I'm fine with rinezha is they are not that trope. nezha bullied rin because he just hated her and thought she was beneath him. he then started to begrudgingly respect her as his rival when she wiped the floor with his ass during the tournament. then he saw her as his ally when they fought together during the invasion of sinegard. as probably one of the only familiar faces in khurdalain, nezha's respect for rin started to turn into friendship. that friendship turned into affection and a budding love when they started working together in arlong. then whatever twisted thing it turned into after he betrayed her. rinezha isn't your generic enemies to lovers, bully-bullied love story. they are more than just a trope.

i like to think that rin haunted nezha the same way altan haunted rin. except that a part of nezha probably wants her to haunt him so that he can feel less alone, even after everyone else forgot about her

i wonder if you guys ever regret actually reading the poppy war or if we're all just permanently unhinged now because it’s been three years and i'm still wandering the emotional wasteland that book left me in!

like. i hate that i'm so miserable over rinezha, that their entire existence haunts me and i can't think about them without feeling like my heart’s been stomped on. but also i love that a series messed me up that badly, cracked me open and took root and now it’s just... part of me. forever. (the series traumatized me. send help)

Recently finished the Poppy War Trilogy and safe to say it’s totally wrecked me :,) unfortunately I can’t find a lot of content around it so ig I’ll just have to make my own.

This is my first render of Nezha and Rin + first attempt in a long time at heavy lineart so pls forgive any wonkiness, i definitely want to draw them a whole lot both to fill the Rinzha shaped hole in my heart but also to get their designs down better
