So begins
my next adventure! My Au Pair year is almost up and I'm rounding it out with a couple week backpacking SOLO trip through Eastern Europe.
Possible stops
(Really want to do Ireland or Italy but...money ..)
Vienna
Budapest
Prague
Krakow
And back to Berlin
Then I head back to the states. Whew.
As I have never done a solo trip before, any tips would be great.
As would any offers to meet up! Coffee or a drink and possibility to make a new friend.
Can't wait to shake the dust and explore a bit.
Will start to update more, [promise]
Hope you are settling in just right. Need any help from Germans? ;)
Ha wow so sorry, I just saw this! Where in Germany are you from?

Your 20’s are your ‘selfish’ years. It’s a decade to immerse yourself in every single thing possible. Be selfish with your time, and all the aspects of you. Tinker with shit, travel, explore, love a lot, love a little, and never touch the ground.

Oh hey
So the internet at my host families house isn't the greatest, hence the non-tumblr presence as of late. Alas, I did what any other English major/Internet loser/New Aupair does-Started a blog. I update it semi-frequently and hope it will turn into something somewhat ok.
So fellow Aupairs or Aupair wannabes, hop on over and send any ask or questions or hey-I'm-near-Duesseldorf-let's-hang-out's my way, ok?!

We are torn between nostalgia for the familiar and an urge for the foreign and strange. As often as not, we are homesick most for the places we have never known.

The beautiful United States of America.
Now that I'm in Germany, I appreciate the US like never before.
So I moved to Germany today...Help?
Sometimes, making the wrong choice is better than making no choice. You have the courage to go forward, that is rare. A person who stands at the fork, unable to pick, will never get anywhere.

New Orleans is known for its street performers. This is the first time I’ve seen this guy. When you tip him he stops playing and lets out a wolf howl. cute gimmick.
He is also very talented and very nice. He is from Michigan, I believe. New Orleans is not the only city he plays in.
I actually saw this guy when I was there! Playing outside the cathedral.

Hello German Aupairs
I need some advice
I'm an American looking to aupair in Germany. First time aupairing but I have kid experience. Just graduated college and looking for something fresh. I'm looking to head over Jan or Feb but my question is
what's the deal with the visas?
I read somewhere you need a work visa and it can take up to 3 months to get but on Aupair World, I saw it say if you're from the US you "may travel to Germany without a visa. However, they need to apply for a residence title at the local Aliens Registration Office (Ausländerbehörde) within three months after their arrival and before the au pair placement starts."
Does this sound right?
How did you do it?
Any help would be appreciated and if I do come over, any friends or advice would be nice as well.
Thank you!
Bis bald
