DO YOUR RESEARCH ON PITBULLS BEFORE YOU SAY ONE THING ABOUT THEM. WHETHER YOU’RE SUPPORTING THE BREED OR NOT SUPPORTING THE BREED, DO YOUR RESEARCH. By “do your research” I mean off credible sites, not sites where people spit out their opinions and act like they’re facts.

* First off - PITBULLS WERE NOT BRED TO KILL OTHER DOGS. Research (again, from a credible site) why Pitbulls were bred/created. It was never intended for them to be seen as deadly machines with their only purpose to kill. Nope. They were created to be the intelligent, loyal and loving dogs that they naturally are. But there’s more, so again, do your research off of a real site and not one like Wikipedia where people can change the information at their pleasure.

* Second - it is PROVEN Pitbulls don’t have the hardest bite pressure. German Shepherds have a MUCH stronger bite pressure than Pitbulls and there’s other dogs ahead of them still including the Rottweiler.

* Third - there is NO SUCH THING AS LOCK JAW. It literally does not exist in any dog breed in this entire world, proven by multiple tests done by scientists.

* Fourth - Pitbulls DON’T MAKE UP FOR THE MOST DOG BITES. You are FAR more likely to get attacked by a small dog or a Siberian Husky than by a Pitbull. When researches went to see these so called Pitbulls that attacked people, they found out that OVER 50% WEREN’T EVEN PITBULLS and were in fact either mutts or completely different pure breds. OVER 50%! 

* Fifth - do the online test and pick a picture of a Pitbull out of the other 21 pictures. I’m sure anyone on here who isn’t educated on Pitbulls or who thinks they’re monsters will be incapable of choosing correctly even within three tries.

Think about this - So if a black man moves in to the house to my right, and a white man to the house to the left, I’m going to get raped by the man on the right, correct? I mean, he’s black. He’s a black man so that MUST mean he’s going to come over one night and rape me. Correct? Because by saying a dog breed is more likely to attack you because of it’s breed, you’re also saying that every black man should be denied renting or owning a home because they’re more prone to rape and Mexicans too because they’re more prone to steal. So let’s start banning every single black person and Mexican, because if you support banning dogs based on their breed you also support banning people because of their skin color. 

EDUCATE BEFORE YOU DISCRIMINATE. In fact, own a Pitbull, even temporarily. Go to the shelter and foster a Pitbull for just one week and tell me you hate the breed. Tell me they’re dangerous. Watch as your kids play tug-o-war and fetch with them. Watch as they curl up in your lap. Watch as they greet you at the door with their entire butt wagging. Watch as they cuddle up close to you each night wanting you to spoon with them. Foster a Pitbull and tell me that he can’t be trusted then. jfc can people stop comparing people of colour to dogs. it is in no way even close to being the same and i’m disgusted when people dehumanize poc by comparing them to DOGS when trying to prove some kind of ‘point’. people are PEOPLE and dogs are ANIMALS. never mix them up.

While it’s true that pit bull terriers do not have the strongest bite pressure, nor is ‘lock jaw’ a thing that can occur in any breed of dog, there’s a shitton wrong with this post.

First and foremost, yes, the pit bull terrier WAS BRED specifically to fight dogs. That’s it’s heritage. That’s the reason the breed was developed. Even then name “pit bull” refers to the fighting pit. They came from a line of dogs bred to fight in the pit. They’re a fighting breed. That isn’t to say a pit bull dog is an evil creature with no purpose- they’re a very versatile and athletic breed suitable for many different tasks and sports, but the reason the breed exists is because it was at one point lucrative to make animals fight for sport. I don’t know what “credible website” would tell you a fighting breed was bred for anything else.

Not every home is suitable for a pitbull and telling people to indiscriminately go foster random ones sets the dogs up for failure. Many bully breeds (not only true pit bulls, but also American Bullies, staffies, and bulldogs) have high prey drive and do not play well around other animals. If someone fosters a pit bull that gets in a fight with their cat or other dogs and ends up killing that animal just from sheer superior strength, that’s a mark against the entire bully group and more fuel to add to the “kill them all” fire that some particularly nasty people stand behind. These are athletic, bold, driven dogs that were created to bait and fight other animals and it’s completely idiotic to assume that every home out there is going to be the perfect fit for one. There are people who can’t even keep their toy poodle from chasing bikes, I wouldn’t trust them with a dog that’s more than capable of killing another dog should a fight break out.

Not every household is a good fit for a husky, not every household is a good fit for an akita, not every household is a good fit for a border collie and not every household is a good fit for an American pit bull terrier.

That, and of course, black people aren’t dogs. Racism and breed discrimination aren’t the same thing. Stop comparing black people to dogs. You aren’t helping anyone with that trite bullshit.

Which I find interesting because I understand grapes to be poisonous to dogs. Although I did catch one of my dogs eating wild grapes. He’d do anything to get to them and never had any ill effects.

This is wrong.

By simple math you can verify that yourself,even though the source of this image conveniently leaves out the number of deaths in the US they made this stat from, but does point out the other counties’.

Lets take Czech Republic as an example.

10 million people. 4 people killed in one single mass shooting in the last six years.

That is, per a million of inhabitants, 0.4. It doesn’t match the image, right? Because what they did is they divided it by THE YEARS IN WHICH THEY COUNTED THE STATS. Not the six years i am mentioning, but 2009-2013. My math still gives me 0.1  but this is as close as i got to figuring how they made these numbers (they probably divided by 3 and not 4?? no idea why) - and by the way, this shooting happened in 2015 so technically, in that time period? Our rate would just be plain 0.

If we try and figure out their starting US no of people killed, it gets super fun. Let’s go with 4 years AND 3 years after, too.

Population of the US: 320 millions.

People killed PER MILLION: 0.095. Multiply by 320 to get the number for the whole country: 30.4 people. In a year. That would be either 91 people in 3 years or 120 in 4 years.

Last year ONLY, US had  389 mass shooting gun deaths. LAST YEAR ONLY.

So, yep.
