hi! if you know, could you maybe explain why coronabeth is called the "worse twin"? i absolutely love the implications and definitely feel that she's hiding something underneath, but was just wondering whether the "worse twin" thing had any specific origins :)

so the specific origins of 'worsetwin' are from the gtn extras, where muir said of corona and ianthe:

In the original, Ianthe and Corona were “Cainabeth and Abella,” a feat of naming so unsubtle that I might as well have just gone with “Goodtwin” and “Badtwin.” And it’s not even accurate! It should be Badtwin, and Lessbadtwin.

(which is fucking hilarious by the way, i think her introducing characters called cainabeth and abella like a page after establishing a location called canaan house would probably have made me throw the book out the window.) anyway, yeah, 'worsetwin' is more or less a corruption of the goodtwin badtwin lessbadtwin thing, lol. muir is basically telling us that corona is analagous to the biblical cain, who, famously, killed his brother abel, and is in all likelihood going to kill ianthe in nona/alecto. the underlying implication seems to be that for all the shit we have seen ianthe do, corona has the capacity to be Worse, and god is she going to be. And then, for a second, it seemed like maybe we could survive the demonic cultivator, and then, 5,000 miles away, Wen Ruohan was like, “I have three pieces of the Yin Iron and I’m going to send my son to blow up Lotus Pier!” And before we could say anything, the demonic cultivator was like, “If you even fucking look at Lotus Pier, I will pipe your son to death with my flute.
