Ehh I don’t really like this sketch but I’ll post it anyway.
@eclipsewarrior101 sent me a finished word search and requested Professor Pericles angst. So I tried doing an ink sketch of him after the events of One of Us Chapter 30.
I tried something with this sketch that didn’t really work out and have a better idea for the request anyway. Still figured I’d share it though.
I absolutely loved Project Hail Mary and Iron Lung, and I’ve been enjoying the Bloodymary crossover ship immensely. And one thing I just have to point out about it that I find so wonderful, and maybe why I love this ship so much, is that it circles back to what fandom culture should be all about: community, kindness, and most of all - love.
Think about it: this is a crossover ship. Grace and Simon were never even supposed to exist together. And yet…
So many people watched Iron Lung and fell in love with Simon. Those familiar with the game might not have been surprised by his fate, but we loved him, we felt for him, and we were all proud of him when he got the black box to the surface, even if he had to die for it. But as good as the ending was, so many of us said: “What if Simon got to live? What if he was found and rescued, and found himself in a gentle place with a kind, handsome, lonely stranger who happens to be the only person in the universe who could understand how he feels and what he’s been through? What if that stranger and his best friend were kind to him and took care of him? And what if that same pair saved the stars Simon was so sure had gone out?”
And of course so many people watched Project Hail Mary and fell in love with Grace and Rocky, and we were all so happy for him at the end of the film when he got to live and finally found a home with Rocky on Erid. But still - he’d never get to see Earth or another human again, and so many of us asked: “What if Grace didn’t have to be the only human on Erid? What if fate sent him a handsome, grumpy, gentle stranger whose story so eerily mirrors his own? And what if they healed each other, just a little?”
Bloodymary asks: “What if they BOTH got to live, and neither of them had to be alone?” And that’s just such a beautiful thing to me. 🥹
I have a theory about the ending of The Amazing Digital Circus that won’t leave me alone.
Something I’ve been wondering since episode 1 is what happened to their bodies in the real world if their minds are in the circus.
What if there IS no way out of the circus because all of the humans aren’t really humans? Maybe they’re just COPIES of human minds? Like they’re JUST the neural scans that were put into the circus as part of some experiment by C&A, but their real bodies and selves in the real world are fine and going about their lives? Possibly even observing the experiment themselves?
Heck - maybe Kinger, Queenie, Scratch, and the other original humans in the circus who were Caine’s original programmers are BEHIND the experiment, so of course they sent copies of their own consciousness into the simulation first. And as their digital selves started abstracting, the humans who appeared in the circus after that are all volunteers? Because they needed more (copies of) human minds to keep the experiment going?
I mean doesn’t it seem like convenient timing that Pomni arrived the same DAY that Kaufmo abstracted? Not to mention that she takes the form of a Jester and Kaufmo was a clown. What bigger hint could they have given us that she was sent there specifically to replace him? And also, we’re shown that when Ragatha enters the Circus, not only is Kinger the last human from the original group, but it’s VERY soon after Queenie abstracts and is sent to the cellar. Pretty convenient timing, right? AND, going even further back than that, it appears in Kinger’s Episode 8 flashback that the original group all arrived in the circus at the same time. Which to me makes it seem much less likely that their arrival was an accident.
An experiment and the humans being copies would also explain why the people in the circus specifically can’t remember their names, and all they remember about how they got into the circus is “putting on some freaky headset.”
I know from their conversation in the bar that some of them explored abandoned locations for fun, but to me that doesn’t make sense. If they just happened upon the headset, wouldn’t the unconscious/unresponsive/potentially DEAD body of the previous person who got sucked into the circus before them have been wearing it? (Assuming the previous person was alone when they put it on.) I mean what idiot would take a mysterious headset off of a comatose person or a CORPSE and put it on THEMSELVES? And if the headset was just by itself on a desk, then the previous person’s body had to have been moved by someone else. Perhaps the partner/group they were exploring with? (Like in Sword Art Online, were the irl bodies of everyone trapped in SAO were on life support.) But if that had happened, given how many people were pulled into the circus before Pomni, then others would have known the headset/machine was dangerous and it would have been destroyed or at least moved to a secure location long before Pomni could have “happened upon it.”
So my theory is that all memory of the experiment and their consent in the situation was erased along with their names to maintain the experiment’s integrity and avoid bias. Pomni, Jax, Kinger, Zooble, Gangle, and Ragatha are all just a bunch of ants in an ant farm, and the people who copied them and sent them there are just watching to see what happens. And assuming any of this is true, then it begs the question of what’s going to happen to the experiment or to them now that Caine has been deleted. Because what IS the experiment? What is C&A trying to find out by doing this? And if the human minds were only in the circus to challenge their new/rogue AI, then what’s going to happen to them now that said AI isn’t in the picture?
I make a lot of my own jewelry as a hobby and let me tell you there is no greater feeling of pride and power than when someone randomly compliments my earrings in public and I can say, “Thank you so much! I made them!”
The specific humiliation of sharing your writing with someone and then watching them read it in front of you in real time. they pause. why did they pause. that was a bad pause. now they're nodding but what does the nod mean. now they look up and say "wow" and you need to know IMMEDIATELY what kind of wow that was. there are at least six different wows and only one of them is good and you have aged fourteen years waiting to find out which one.
Although not going by the term "asexual" yet, asexuality was spoken about alongside homosexuality as far back as the 1890s. Asexual history is just as vital to queer history as any other term and I'm so tired of watching us being treated like a new thing
