Happy New Yearâs (eve) or whatever
to whoever, wherever you are. I hope itâs everything you wished for and youâre with the person you want to be with.Â
so how weird is it for me to actually be excited for school to start again?
Pretty weird, considering everything thatâs going to have to change once we get back.
Who knew that a Christmas bonus could feel so good?
But really. Because as of today, yours truly is officially done with working at Sweet Treats for the rest of 2015. Sure, itâs only a couple of days, but I also get a week off next month, fully paid, as my bonus, so thatâs something pretty sweet. Pun totes intended. As for the rest of the year, this Kitty-Kat is going to spend it with nothing but R&R. Thatâs right â itâs massage time. See you all after my relaxation coma.
How did you manage to get paid time off after two months? Thatâs the kind of thing you find in an American Girl book.

Finn: dude like.. what I want out of friends right now is to not be pushed to talk. I'm already seeing a therapist, I get enough of being forced to talk about my feelings there, you know?
Finn: I don't wanna sit around talking about how fucked up I am over Prescott, I just wanna have people who wanna hang with me just to chill, not to think about the other stuff.
Finn: that's the only reason I got all weird about things.
Finn: like... even Kitty made me feel messed up for a bit cause she wanted me to talk feelings and crap about it all. Quinn's kinda been the only person who wasn't asking if I'm okay or if I need to talk, she just, let me be and talked to me normally.
Brody: But see, you used to be able to at least tell me that. "I don't really feel like talking about it" and then we'd get pizza or play video games.
Brody: Things are confusing for everyone and that's not trying to take away from you or anything, but like... you're not the only one.
Brody: All I'm saying is it's fine if you don't want to talk about being okay but you're not the only one who feels that way.
Iâll see what I can do. The idea of celebrating the New Year on a sandy white beach is very, very tempting, but so are you.
I know that Iâm not. I know that part of my weirdness was irrational jealousy that I have no place to hold onto all things considered. I know that the fact that I love someone else as well as you hurts you. But I do want to be better, for you.Â
Youâre good for me. I promise.Â
I love the smell of police fear
What witty repartee, what was I thinking not inviting you to the island?
I always tell the truth - you should know that by now.Â
Thatâs basically Effy Bennett for âI know you are but what am I?â so Iâll take it.
About almost everything, yeah.
I wouldnât blame you for skipping the party festivities; if I make it home in time, maybe we can head to Wichita or Kansas City and watch the fireworks in a bigger city.Â
I miss you too. But when I come back I will be a relaxed, happy girlfriend who can be a much better person to be around. I know Iâve been a mess these past few weeks, but we can put 2015 behind us and start fresh. You and me.
It just seems like a lot of work right now and I couldnât even tell you whoâd show up. Thereâs really nothing worse than having a party and no one being there... your idea sounds better. If you get back, I mean. No pressure.
Youâre a good girlfriend, Rachel. Youâre patient with me most of the time and Iâm lucky to have youÂ
I am. I donât think Iâve actually managed to relax lately, so maybe some time out of Kansas will help.Â
You know I would have loved that, until Effy tried to kill you. She knows people, Brody, I wouldnât put it past her.
Yeah, getting out of Kansas might help. Or just out of Bay Grove. Maybe thatâs what I should do for New Yearâs. I donât know if I really feel like having a party this year. But then again, itâs tradition at this point.
Youâre right. I know yourâe right. Besides, it wouldnât really be fair for me to tag along on your time with her. I just kind of miss you.
I love the smell of police fear
You spend most of your day caring about horses; I donât think anyone should be too flattered to make the grade.Â
Regardless, I donât need any help. The police are my bitch.Â
I live and work on a ranch; itâs taught me how to take care of particularly stubborn breeds.Â
Thatâs the first thing anyoneâs said in weeks that I actually believe.
As usual, a trip to Bennett Island is just what the doctor ordered.Â
I have had a fruity drink in hand since I arrived, a bikini on for the past 24 hours to properly tan, and my feet have barely touched anything but sand. For the first time in weeks, I think I finally got a proper nights rest - I may consider never coming back home if this is what paradise is like.Â
Yeah, it looks like youâre having fun. You deserve to relax after the year weâve all had. Maybe next time Iâll just go with you, invite or no invite.
I love the smell of police fear
I know Berry likes to think sheâs the centre of the universe but, just like anything she says or does after half a shot, sheâs irrelevant to this. Hudson, Iâm sure, is off crying in a corner about the strains of being completely healthy but once again, irrelevant.
Believe it or not, youâre included on that list of âpeople I care aboutâ. I donât know why you have to make it so hard.
PRIVATE:Â
The best things are worth fighting for, right?
PRIVATE:
Yeah. They are. And theyâre worth protecting. Itâs just harder when they donât seem to care one way or the other.

Brody: I know you said you don't want to talk and lately it's like I can't say anything to you without it going wrong but... if you'd just tell me what's going on, I can help you.
Brody: Let me help you, even if it's just like, listening or distracting you.
Brody: Let me be your friend, okay?
when: 12/28/15 where: the Weston Ranch Â
I D E N T I T YÂ â
PRIVATE:
You donât have to convince me, Brody. I know that Finn didnât do it. But not everyone knows him like we do, and to be honest I donât know if itâs possible to know someone to the bones anymore in Bay Grove. ⊠Please. Iâm asking you this as a favor to someone who has more reason to be mad at him than probably anyone else in this whole city. Please just try. You both deserve it. ⊠Quinn doesnât try with me anymore and a part of me hates it more than what she did to begin with.
PRIVATE:
I did try. he jumped down my throat... look Iâll try. Again. Thereâs nothing I wouldnât do for him, but itâs exhausting when it just ends in another fight.
PRIVATE:
⊠How do you know he wasnât there?
PRIVATE:
Because I just... I know Finn. I know I just said I donât know him that well anymore, but I still know him. And it doesnât matter how hurt or angry or whatever he might have been, he wouldnât purposely go to someone to hurt them. He doesnât do that. So thereâs no way he was there.

Rachel: I don't usually remember my dreams.
Brody: It's probably better that way. You seemed really scared about something in the dream.
