His eyes sparkled when he talked. like a thousand stars twinkling their excitement. Logan wondered briefly if this is how people felt when they said: “I could get lost in their eyes”. But no. Logan didn’t feel lost. Virgil’s eyes were a map of stars, and Logan was lost at sea looking up at them. Leading him exactly where he wanted to be. Logan would chase those stars to the ends of space. “Are you even listening El?” Virgil’s voice snapped him back to the conversation at hand. “Er- yes apologies Virgil I got caught up in thought” Logan hoped he wasn’t blushing. It was hard to tell in Virgil’s presence. he always felt just that little bit warm. He looked at Virgil now more clearly, not zeroing in on those eyes, but then, All of Virgil was just that beautiful. Logan shook his head ever so slightly and looked instead at the small space between them. They were sitting on the couch, some forgotten documentary playing in the background. Virgil was talking about spiders, how bad he wanted one, how scared Patton would be. Logan frowned at that. Even with Patton’s fear of Arachnids the moral side wouldn’t have kept Virgil from getting one if it made him happy. Logan wanted to make Virgil happy. That night Logan stayed up late doing research and making lists of what he’d need. He’d already okayed the idea with Patton. and just like he suspected Morality was frightened but supportive. The next day Logan was hesitant, awkwardly standing at Virgil’s door, perhaps he was too early? maybe Virgil hadn’t slept well and Logan would be waking him up. The Anxious side never got enough sleep in Logan’s opinion. Granted that was one of the flaws they shared. He checked his watch again. it was noon. plenty late enough. Logan sighed and knocked on Virgil’s door. As soon as it opened Logan stepped aside so that the large tank could be better seen. From there Logan watched Virgil’s face. At first, it was a look of confusion, then emotions flickered across Virgil’s face quicker than Logan could keep up and he chewed his lip in worry that he’d somehow messed up. “El…” Virgil Whispered. “Did you get me a spider..?”“You had expressed a longing for such a thing yesterday and I read that animals and such can help with anxiety as well” Logan straightened up making sure not to look as unsure as he felt. Logan wasn’t expecting the arms suddenly wrapped around him, Virgil’s arms wrapped around him. Virgil was saying something that Logan couldn’t make out. His mind still stuck on what was happening. they’d never touched like this. Virgil would always flinch when anyone reached out to hug him so Logan never tried. Not that Logan needed or wanted such things. Logan struggled within himself. fighting between giving in to the warmth provided by Virgil and the need to be cold and logical and hard. He was supposed to be Logic. Flawless Logic. Professional Logic. Cold hard facts and nothing more Logic. He got Virgil a spider in hopes of helping his anxiety and in turn helping Thomases anxiety and that was all. Virgil’s arms were still wrapped around him. Warm, soft, emotions..? “Thank you Thank you Thank you!” Logan finally tuned in to what Virgil was saying, as Virgil pulled away, taking the warmth with him. He was smiling so wide, It was beautiful and it was bright. and it wasn’t Logical and Logan didn’t care. Virgil was too warm. too bright smiling like Logan had just done something extraordinary. But he hadn’t done any such thing. Not yet. Logan made a choice to stop thinking so much. and surged forward, closing the distance between them. The foot of space that felt like oceans between them. Crossing it in less than a second and pressing his lips to Virgil’s smiling ones. For a moment everything around him was bright white and fever hot and perfect. but then Logic started kicking in. He could feel Virgil wasn’t moving. Oh god, Virgil didn’t want this. Virgil didn’t ask for this. Logan broke away quickly taking two steps back. “Virgil…” He choked out “I.. I’m so sorry I don’t I don’t know why I… I didn’t mean to.. I’m sorry” Logan was barely able to whisper at the end and he couldn’t look to Virgil. No, if he looked at Virgil now he would surely break apart at the seams. Logan turned and fled. Logan’s breathing came quicker than it should. He recognized it of course, from all the times he’d helped Virgil through a panic attack. But why was Logic panicking? Logan laughed darkly at the thought pulling and yanking off his tie. Could he even be considered Logic at this point?A knock on his door sliced through his spiraling thoughts. Logan took a breath and smoothed out his hair doing his best to paint a blank expression on his face before opening it to see none other than Virgil. “Ah yes hello Virgil I do Apologise for my-” Logan was interrupted by lips pressed softly to his. Logan sucked in a surprised gasp and his eyes fluttered closed as he leaned into Virgil’s touch, Parting his lips and tilting his head up. It lasted an eternity and it lasted a heartbeat. it was perfect and beautiful and warm, so warm. When Virgil pulled back his arms were wrapped around Logan’s waist, and he was looking at him with those eyes. those twinkling stars. but they were twinkling just for Him now. “Can that be our first kiss?” Logan asked in a whisper. Logan could feel Virgil’s answering chuckle rumbling deep in his chest, and then Virgil was kissing him again. Soft and gentle and perfect.
