in 1888 under the hauge (did i spell that right?) conventions, it was first officially designated as a war crime to kill and/or wound a soldier who had already surrendured, was wounded, or had no means of defending themselves. in all quiet on the western front (2022), there is a scene where the germans are storming french trenches. in this scene, after entering french trenches, paul shoots and kills a wounded french soldier who was missing both of his legs. the soldier didn't even have a helmet, let alone a gun. this means paul shot and killed a wounded soldier who had no means to defend himself. THAT IS A WAR CRIME. STOP INFANTALIZING PAUL BAUMER. HE COMMITTED A WAR CRIME AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS A WAR CRIMINAL. he is NOT your "poor baby 🥺". he's an idiot who did stupid things and got what he deserved as a result of said stupid things he did.
