Legit had a cop say this to me once about an officer who was found drunk ON DUTY in the middle of the road with his car on, in gear, and his foot on the break. Officer had FIVE TIMES the legal limit of alcohol and faced no charges whatsoever. Cop told me the slight pay cut and demotion he received was punishment enough because their jobs are so stressful.

I’m a criminal defense attorney. I told him I too am in one of the most stressful professions but if I showed up drunk to work, I’d lose my ability to practice. I’d lose my job, license, house, everything. Not to mention the criminal charges I’d face.

No excuse. Absolutely none.
