@amateurplant
Hylocomium splendens on christmas day.
Not plants but I wanted to try posting something different! I spend a lot of time behind a microscope (both at school and at home), here’s a rotifer and a gastrotrich I found recently in some old aquarium water I got from a friend.
Leaf update!
I miss botany class :/Â
Survived my first term at uni! I’ve never been so stressed AND had so much fun at the same time before. Intense. Throwing in this photo of some fuchsias that I took a couple of months ago and thought I’d post here but never found the time. I don’t even like fuchsias that much, but it’s been lying in my drafts for so long now.Â
Hello, hello, and top of the morning! :D Would you consider/be interested in doing a succulent buyers guide? :) I love your blog. :3
Huomenta @oneleggedflamingo! I know you sent this ask months ago, saying that I’m answering this “late” is an understatement ... I’m happy that you like my blog, and flattered by your request! I could do a guide in the future yes, but I’ve seen some succulent guides on here and I’m not sure if I could contribute with any new information. I’ll think about it! Thank you so much for your message!ps what would people like to know about in a succulent buyers guide? Besides picking out a healthy plant, does anyone have any ideas?
This is going to be good!Â
Beautiful blog🌱💕
I’m glad you think so @empatheticoceangoddess! Just wish I had time to be more active on here, but thank you very much and have a lovely weekend!
More fern content from the excursion, pretty sure these were Matteuccia struthiopteris.
Hi I am new to the concept of plants, and wanted to ask for any recommendations for house plants.
Hi @dar-ling-k! First of all I’m so sorry it took me so long to answer you, haven’t been active on here in a while. So, about your question: I can’t really recommend you a houseplant unless I know a little about the conditions it’ll be growing in (like light, humidity etc). Generally for picking out a house plant I’d say do some research first, find a plant that you think will thrive in the conditions you can provide. Best of luck to you and your future plants!
Passiflora flower in the greenhouse at school. I’ve only seen the blue/purple kind of flowers before so this was new to me.Â
Found these ferns during an excursion a while back, they were over a meter high and growing in their own miniature “valley” near a creek. I think they’re some kind of Dryopteris or maybe Matteuccia struthiopteris (further down the creek we found ferns we were certain was Matteuccia since we could see the spore bearing structures)... There’s something about large ferns, just makes me want to lie down among them and disappear.Â
Ok I think I’m back. University started about 2 months ago and I’ve been working part time so I’ve had to put off a lot of things while adjusting. Exam stress aside, I’m taking a botany class right now which is really cool and also my school has a greenhouse with a give away plants-box (!!!!)... Also one of the lab assistants sneak me cuttings every now and then :) update 19-10-30: the plant to the left is brunnera macrophylla and the one to the right is ajuga reptans!
I don’t remember what these are called, anyone? it’s foxgloves, thanks for the ID @garfield-goth!
How do germinate lavender seed ?
I have no idea, never done it! You’ll have to google it, have a nice day @cherrylipsdelrey :)Â
Found a photo that shows the variegation better on the pachyveria (which is all cut up now fyi).Â
Some succulents I saw at the nursery.
