Ten days ago, my brother created the GoFundMe page to raise 53 million dollars for Kanye West. Despite what TMZ wrongly reported, my brother never wanted to make any money for himself. The page was obviously satire and he wasn’t expecting any attention from this. Once the media picked it up, people lost their damn minds.
Kanye's camp declined the funds raised by this campaign, so my brother worked really hard to actually get the donated money to a deserving place instead. A handful of arts based organizations declined because of the possible bad press but now he’s excited to announce that they will instead be directed toward an outstanding charitable organization, Notes for Notes®. People that actually donated can request refunds but if not, 100% of the funds will be headed to young aspiring musicians hoping to fulfill their dreams.
Notes for Notes® is a non-profit organization which builds, equips, and staffs after-school recording studios (inside Boys & Girls Clubs and after-school facilities) packed with guitars, drums, keys/synths, DJ gear, digital music stations and full recording studios offering youth completely FREE access to explore, create, and record music. Notes for Notes® currently has 11 studios in Boys & Girls Clubs and after-school sites in Santa Barbara, Nashville, LA, Brooklyn, San Francisco, Ventura, Atlanta, Detroit, and coming soon to Chicago, Austin, Cleveland, Memphis, NOLA, Minneapolis, Portland, San Diego and beyond. In addition to creating music Notes for Notes® also educates about the multitude of careers around the industry and the positive paths music can be the catalyst to.
