So, I drew this for fun around a year ago when I started on Steven haha. I was a big fan of Peridot’s new look and I’m so glad to see everyone else is too! (Drawn by me, Animated by @forosha ) For those who don’t know this is a little homage to a scene from Gurren Lagann.

You know, I was honestly worried about Yang and Blake killing Adam, but I’m so relieved now because they’ve handled it so well. The thing is that neither Yang nor Blake are cold blooded killers. I just can’t see them standing over a defeated Adam and then going for the final blow (like he did with Blake). 

Blake and Yang killing Adam was self defence. Adam has made it very clear in this fight that he’s in for the kill, that he won’t show mercy to either of them. Yang has even offered him a way out before. After Yang breaks his aura she doesn’t use his sword to kill him, she throws it away, but he still goes for Blake’s weapon instead. 

When they finally do kill him, neither of them looks happy. It’s a painful, ugly moment. They don’t push him over the edge, they don’t show any more brutality than necessary to literally stay alive. 

The music cuts out when he walks away and then brutally falls down the cliff. Adam’s final moments don’t feel like a triumph, but actually sad. There is absolutely no beauty in his death, because there never is beauty in death, and I’m so glad the writers are aware of that. 

Yang and Blake don’t celebrate his death, because there’s nothing to celebrate about it. Blake breaks down crying, and I think it’s not only because of the things he has said and done, but also because she really does grieve him in a way, because he was once very dear to her and she never wanted things to end like this. Both are obviously shook, emotionally tormented, comforting each other rather than celebrating what happened. And this is what it should be like when two main characters are forced to kill someone. 

I’m so happy that the writers have handled this so incredibly well.
