hi I’m not Muslim but I have a questions abt hijabs

do you wear them?? If so Is there a specific way to wrap them

I already wrote an answer but then I accidentally hit the exit button LMAO

Anywhooo... I'm a proud hijabi! There are many different interpretations on how to wear the hijab and even some interpretations regarding whether or not it's obligatory to wear it! Now, speaking from a specific universal (?) interpretation that agrees on the fact that it is obligatory, a hijab is supposed to cover your head and chest. However, there are different views regarding other parts of the head such as the neck.

Moving on to styles, you can, indeed, wear a hijab and still be able to dress up however you want as long as the outfit you're wearing is modest. (Even cosplays!) There are many guides/tutorials on how to wear and style one. Here's an example of a stylish hijab below.

I saw a poll today, asking people how they pronounce a word. The option that was winning was not the official pronunciation. And then some reblogs said “so many people are confidently incorrect” / “people are proudly displaying their ignorance” and like, not to be pedantic but you are being very confident in your assertion here, when you are putting words in people’s mouths.

The poll didn’t ask people “how is this pronounced/ what is the correct pronunciation?” It asked how do YOU pronounce this.

As you know, I’m not a native English speaker. I have an accent. I did vote for the incorrect option because that’s how I pronounce it. It’s one of those English words where there is a pair of similar looking words, with distinct meanings. I know both the words and what they mean, and I read and spell them correctly, but they sound the same to my ears. I mispronounce at least one of them.

Is this a post about being inclusive to non native speakers? No. It’s about how the phrasing of a poll can really influence the answers in ways you might not have intended. Probably OP wanted to know if people knew how to pronounce the word. Making the straightforward assumption that knowledge = pronunciation. It seams simple and obvious at first, but it’s these kinds of implicit “obvious” assumptions that can mess with results down the line

Me, a Jew: I understand that you don't personally believe in a higher power, and that you celebrate Christmas in ways that feel secular to you, but Christmas is an inherently Christian holiday. Even if your particular traditions aren't rooted in explicit religious practice, the holiday can't be divorced from its Christian roots. I'm happy for my friends to invite me to join them in celebration (just as I, a Jew am happy to invite my gentile friends to join me in my Sukkah, or in celebrating Purim), and I'm happy to engage in these rituals as a guest.
