since @/enigmasalad made a post about herm being pretty i wanted to also give some appreciation for robert's features :3

as opposed to herm who is more androgynous, robert has this soft kind of masculinity to him in both appearance and personality which i REALLY love. he has a small, angular face but a strong jawline. thick, downturned eyebrows contrasted by pretty brown doe/puppy eyes. the contrast in his appearance makes him so much fun to watch because he's also such an expressive character!!

he has a look that's sorta.....balanced but not in a boring way? like he's sort of an average looking guy but he has both an extra softness and an extra edge to him. it's hard to explain but like he's super attractive to me and i find it very interesting how his appearance is so simple yet contains so many multitudes at the same time.

(also wanna give some appreciation for his lil freckles and stubble HHNNGNGHH ITS SO CUTE)

Characters' handwriting in rise (in episode order)!

"Mystic mayhem". Splinter's handwriting is very unique and cool! Love how angular it is, his "o"s are more like triangles

"Origami Tsunami". It's not shown who wrote these signs (multiple turtles?). We see mikey put the "paper on sale" sign up but we don't see him write it. However, after gathering all the samples of the turtles' handwriting, i couldn't find one of leo's and this sloppiness doesn't quite match donnie's, raph's or mikey's, so i'm inclined to say this is leo's handwriting

"Shell in a Cell". Donnie's signature. Donnie writes in cursive in "origami tsunami" too

"Stuck on you". Raph's consistently shown to write in all caps. Also he wrote this on his right palm. Is raph left handed? But! In "pizza puffs" raph writes with his right hand. Maybe raph's ambidextrous orrrrr the artists just forgot

"Pizza Pit". Mikey's handwriting. His letters are offset. How interesting! Mikey writes in all caps in "bullhop" but a bit neater

"Warren & hypno, sitting in a tree". I LOVE that we can see this evolution of april's handwriting through the years, or at least her signature, from elementary school to highschool. I also love that we see her without her jacket

This list of shown handwriting is far from comprehensive, unfortunately, but handwriting is a great opportunity for characterization that i think's often overlooked. Idk if the crew sat down and chose unique handwriting styles for each character but that'd be cool if they did! I noticed most of the handwriting in rise is all caps across characters

My inspiration of the title for “Start Living, David” comes from my first spoiler from the movie aside from the trailer.

It was a YT short that showed the scene of David confronting Saul in the desert, returning the piece of his cape, assuring him despite his own anointing he’s not his enemy. They share an embrace before Saul separated himself from David.

I… that was… one of the best moments in the movie of small narrative choices that. Just . Fit. Right.

And the song playing over it was just empowering that feeling of hope.

It was a song called “Start Living” by David Dunn

Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!!

And since then that song was stuck to me. I contemplated making a fic since the short and trailer but only made a oneshot. But once I made my whole family on my dad’s side to watch it first before Avatar Fire and Ash, I solidified my decision and started making chapter drafts that same night on the way home.

I also have untouched storyboards of an animatic for the movie using the song. One thing at a time though. At least I started on it so I’ll remember to finish it at some point.

As much as I get how not every Christian media that adapts the Bible is not accurate or correct or even divergent cause of narrative choices, it gives me the chance to tweak it in the form of fanart and fanfics.

I like certain aspects and choices of every piece of content like the DAVID movie and The Promised Land YouTube series.

Everything post Egypt was just drama blood sweat and tears. Like a parent on the longest road trip ever with the best and ungrateful children to rein in. The Ten Commandments were the hard house rules but every law after was to attune to their lifestyle standards to be set apart from the “others.” And doing so in a mockumentary Office-like fashion was perfect to portray. Reminding us that these figures, God’s people, are ultimately HUMAN. Multifaceted and complicated.

Same with the DAVID movie. If anything, I loved how human Saul was, a good man but proud. No matter what he did and what his fate was, he was ultimately God’s anointed and that was a title not to take lightly. Refer to 2 Samuel 1.

I have so many thoughts and this movie was such a launch pad for me to make fics for this concept of a movie. Man, I wished that they would’ve have an animated series to showcase all that is the full good and bad of David’s life. A man after God’s heart. After every sin and transgressions against others and God, he always repents, greatly remorseful, and turns himself and all that he has back to God. Remembering why he’s here and Who put him there, and moves on.

Every life that is transcribed in the Bible and not included are there to showcase the workings of God through his people. In reading the Bible to understand for my fic, one prominent thing that comes to mind that describes God for me is the perfect parent to imperfect children. Not mother, a single Father.

Just like how when you see good people going about and you think on how well their parents raised them, that what I see. Even then when it’s evil people, you might sympathize with the parents.

hiccup and tuffnut are best friends…right? aha rhetorical question bruh ofc they are.

hiccup and tuffnut are an amazing duo in httyd. they’re both crazy and intelligent, but it’s like in their own way. hiccup would go to tuff if astrid wasn’t there, tuff would go to hiccup if ruff wasn’t there. It’s that simple.

I just feel like they have more of an interesting dynamic with each other more than they do with snotlout or fishlegs. I’ve been seeing a couple edits on tiktok (there should be more) that really show a different side of their friendship. In the series, we mostly see hiccup yelling at him for doing something stupid with his sister, but it’s kinda hard to see the side that actually shows where they feel comfortable and act like brothers/best friends.

It was that one episode where the twins cousin, gruffnut, came back in town and was causing trouble idk. I don’t really remember but somehow hiccup thought tuff was gruffnut and said “I think I know one of my best friends when I see him.” from this moment on, we now know hiccup refers to tuff as his BEST FRIEND. not just a teammate, dragon rider, or a friend, but a BEST FRIEND!!!

even though WE can see their unique bond behind the 4th wall, It seems like tuffnut is truly shocked by what hiccup thinks of him, or in this case, refers to him as. the impression of each other is a bit unrequited, which explains why tuff thought hiccup didn’t think of him like that. if tuffnut would’ve had been more attentive to him and hiccup interacting, (disregarding the scolding and lectures), then he could’ve been a lot more closer to hiccup sooner than he expected to be.

huh, in httyd 3, it seems like they’ve become more closer. or at least one of them has and the other just deals with it. in the third movie, tuffnut looks like he’s embraced in upping his friendship with hiccup. for example, he gets WAY more touchy and is all up in his personal space than what we’ve seen in rtte.

people finna pull the “he just acted that way to bring up marriage between him and astrid.” or “he was only a comedic relief to the film.”

The writers definitely chose tuffnut not to only be his “best man” but chose him to be hiccups literal mentor throughout the movie (alongside gobber obvi)

not snotlout. not fishlegs. not even eret. why tuffnut out of all of them?

since hiccup is most likely the talker in his relationship with astrid, he switches roles and gets to be the listener with tuffnut.

they’re like a quiet and loud duo. they bring out the best of each other. no wonder why hiccup picked him to be the uncle for his children, duh.

Don’t get me wrong, they both have wonderful bonds with the other dragon riders, idk it’s just something about hiccup and tuff being defined bffs gets me.

basically if they both had to have a go-to best friend aside from ruffnut and astrid, or belch and toothless, they wouldn’t hesitate to say each other.

i mean guys, come on, if hiccup let tuff call him ‘hiccy,’ then you know they’re bros.
