I absolutely love rtte and how much effort the writers put into making the script but i hated times where they made everybody in the gang feel the need to blame hiccup for something that wasnât necessarily his fault. Even if it was, it sometimes felt like some of the riders had no empathy towards hiccup and were so quick to bash him when he made a mistake.
like in grim retreat, everyone in the gang EXCEPT for hiccup wanted to go on a vacation from all the work they were doing. Was hiccup being demanding and constantly working them? Yes. But he had a good reason to (worrying about viggo finding out u need a key to use the dragon eye) and wanted to make sure they were prepared. So of course, the gang keeps on bugging him and he eventually caves in (as per usual) and they go on vacation and guess fcking what the dragons start glitching out. So the gang blames him for his âtyrannical behavior towards viggo.â wow.
WHY THOOOO
They wouldâve never been in that situation if
1. theyâve listened to hiccup by not going on a vacation and stayed tf where they were.
2. never jumped in that parasitic ass lagoon water that made the dragons turn wild.
ik they have a reflective moment at the end of the episode saying what they could do better but the whole âletâs play the blame game on hiccupâ thing still makes me a little confused and it continues to happen later on in the series. I never understood why the writers or whoever wrote the mf made hiccup almost automatically take the blame. He even seems appalled at the fact that all of them think itâs his fault. He even APOLOGIZES in that episode and im still tryna figure out why.
trust me i love the gang and ik they love hiccup too but they sure canât wait to point fingers at him lmao.
