this post was good y'all are just mad you donāt have cocks
Concept: magical girl series that initially looks like itās going to take a grim twist, with the whole team getting brutally (but bloodlessly) massacred in their very first monster fight ā but then the team leader wakes up the next morning perfectly fine and is like ādude, what the FUCKā.
Whereupon the cute animal sidekick is like: āOh, when you ātransformā we transport your human body to the astral plane and replace it with a magical construct that your mind operates remotely. You were never in any real danger ā didnāt you read the orientation manual?ā
Our hero is obliged to admit that she did not, in fact, read the orientation manual.
After taking a moment to process, the protagonist asks the question thatās surely on every viewerās mind: āIf my powered up form is a drone, does that mean I can customise it?ā
The rest of the series is basically a lighthearted combination of recurring fashion montages with increasingly outlandish customised bodies and the team abusing their conditional immortality to do stupid hold-my-beer stunts while the animal sidekick frets about the budget.
any time i hear the insufferable transphobic athlete arguments i think of that one time in middle school when my boys lacrosse team did a full-contact scrimmage against the girls team (who typically play with limited contact) and i, a six-foot, 180lb defender, got utterly laid-out by this 5-foot-nothing girl experiencing the newly-unleashed animosity accompanied by violent sport and as i looked up at my assailant from flat on my back i experienced a brief bout of heterosexuality and fell wildly in love and then had to be taken to the ER because i had a concussion

one of the nice things about heterosexuals i never see talked about on here is that they havenāt already heard all your gay jokes yet. i just really appreciate having a new audience sometimes for my completely automatic responses to phrases likeĀ āiāll be straight with youā. so, shoutout to all the innocent hets out there who have a genuine giggle over lame quips that a fellow queer would groan and hit me for. ilu guys.Ā
I recently no scoped my coworker when she asked me āWhatās in the closet, anyway?ā and I automatically saidĀ āmeā. She lost her mind. Full cackling in the middle of the store. I never thought Iād see the day that joke would work but here I was, blessed with an unexperienced heterosexual. It was transcendent.Ā
I once had a girl working on a display where I work, and she commented, āI thought this would be straighter when I got done with it.ā And I said, āmy mother thought the same thing about meā, and everyone around us lost it. It was a blessed moment.
I knew a kid who saw my āLetās get something straight: Iām notā bracelet and ended up laughing about it all day and telling anyone who would listen
I told a coworker that changing the music I picked would be homophobic and she lost her shit like it was the funniest thing ever
i used to offhandedly say stuff to my customers on campus like āunfortunately iām very gayā and it always took them by surprise. they loved it.
I was visiting a (straight) friend recently and when he was making me breakfast he made me extra toast. I, of course, upon seeing this went āfuck yeah gay rightsā and he lost it. Should have seen his fave when I pulled the opposite joke, the āthis is homophobiaā at any inconvenience. Was amazing.
I was in class one time and we were talking about allergies and someone turned around to me and asked āhow allergic are you to nuts?ā
My friend says, āobviously not enough if sheās bi.ā the class lost it.
Once I was tidying up the stockroom at work and my coworker was all āyou straight back here?ā My response of ānot even a little, but the stockroom is cleanā made her lose it
I complained to my mom that it sucks that the first gender is free but after that you have to pay for them and she lost her goddamn mindĀ

[ID: Tweet by @TamarPedsRheum reading, āMy 8 year oldās homework tonight.ā Attached is a photo of a worksheet with two printed homework questions, answered in a childās handwriting.
The first question shows 6 beach balls, 3 of which are striped and 3 of which have stars on them. The question asks, āWhat fraction of the balls have stars?ā The answer is worked out below in a childās handwriting: ā3/6 = ½ of the balls are striped. 3/6 = ½ of the balls are stared [sic].ā
The second question depicts 7 cartoon children in various clothes and with varying lengths of hair. The question asks, āWhat fraction of the children are girls? What fraction of the children are boys?ā The childās handwriting below says ā4/7 = 4/7 have long hair, 3/7 = 3/7 have short hair. I can not tell who is a girl and who is not a girl from a picture.ā End ID]

So often transphobes, homophobes, intersexists, and misogynists try to forward this idea that if we teach children about the true diversity of bodies and ways of existing (or even just acknowledge and validate their own observations of the world around them!), theyāll be confused, but itās literally not confusing to kids. Itās only āconfusingā to those adults, and thatās because theyāve wed themselves so deeply to these hyperspecific idealized binaries of gender and sex that anything that even challenges their ideology slightly feels like an affront to āthe way things should be.ā

I figure out I had ADHD last year, but I didnāt seek an official diagnosis and medication until this year. Iām 30 years old, my school days are long behind me. I slipped through the cracks because I have predominately inattentive type and I was a quiet little girl. Having ADHD does not mean you have to be hyperactive and loud, it means you have a processing problem in your brain that doesnāt allow you to regulate your focus or emotions.Ā
Mental health even now is still taboo to talk about. People are more open now than ever about it however and that gives me hope.Ā
This is a profoundly personal comic and it only reflects my own experience with ADHD. It is on a spectrum with a wide range of personalities. But if my story connects with someone else and helps them, that would mean the world to me.
Still working for a diagnosis. 38
So like I get that people have this issue with Star Trek taking so long to have a canonically queer principle character, and I get that people kind of take issue with there being a sort of āqualifierā on Jadzia/Lenara as they were husband and wife in their previous lives, but I also feel like a lot of people donāt appreciate how incredible this story was?
The Jadzia/Lenara story revolved around two characters who were forbidden from being together by the taboos and laws of their culture. And it wasnāt just a metaphor - they actually used two women. This is a queer story about two women who arenāt allowed to be together because of their cultural norms. Any signs of affection between them were seen as inherently wrong, risky, dangerous etc. Lenara works under the constant, watchful eye of her brother, who continually makes his opinion about his ~concern~ for her known. And eventually Jadzia has to choose between the woman she loves and the life she wants because she wonāt be allowed to have both - if she begins a relationship with this woman, her life as she knows it is over and shew ill be ostracized from her society, never allowed to re-enter it. And every moment of it is believable and full of beautifully painful affectionā¦
In 1995 they shamelessly presented a wlw love story complete with longing, affectionate looks, confessions of love, and kisses. And like Kira Nerys saysĀ āI donāt understand how two people whoāve fallen in love and made a life together can be forced to walk away from each other because of a taboo!ā Like⦠they werenāt be subtle about this at all.
As for theĀ āqualifierā that somehow makes it less queerā¦.? These two people carry the memories of a man and woman who used to be married, so I guess a lot of people saw this story as a second-hand het love story, but to me that was a really important part of the story because it presented this wlw relationship as totally equal to a het marriage. Their love is intense, believable, and on par with a male/female relationship.
Also, choosing to see this as somehow a second-hand het love story is, quite bluntly, transphobia.
There are tremendously unsubtle trans implications throughout Daxās entire character arc, complete with multiple scenes that handle deadnaming and pronouns. For many trans people who grew up with Star Trek, the Trills in general, but especially in DS9 were a revelation. Dax is a character who everyone acknowledges once was a man, and who everyone also acknowledges is now a woman. Thatās huge, and it needs to not be erased in the conversation about wlw representation in Star Trek in general.
A woman wanting to be together romantically with another woman is not het, regardless of whether one of them was once a man. Thatās true whether the women are real or fictional. End of fucking story.
You are absolutely right
So you donāt have to watch the video every time you need one of these hacks immediately:
1. If you feel nauseated, smell rubbing alcohol.ļæ¼
2. If you feel like throwing up, start humming.
3. If you have a runny nose, put your tongue to the roof of your mouth and press your thumb to your forehead for about 20 seconds.
4. If you have a headache, pinch the webbing between your fingersļæ¼ and rub it back and forth for about 1 minute.
5. If youāre lightheaded from standing up too quickly, clench your butt cheeksļæ¼.
6. If your armās dead/has the pins and needles feeling, rock your head back and forth.
7. If you need to pee badly, think of sex to trick your brain and relieve the pressure.ļæ¼
8. If you have a migraine, stick your hands in ice water.ļæ¼
9. If you wanna calm your racing heart, blow on your thumb.ļæ¼
If you're lightheaded while standing up, opening and closing your fists is also something to do. Also try stretching before getting up!
(These are vasovagal syncope tricks, to get the blood pumping where it should be)
Thanks for adding another hack!
I used the humming one when I randomly started dry heaving today, and that shit worked so fast!šš¼
A trick I have used often when I stand up too fast/start to see my vision black out is to quickly hold my hands up over my head.Ā A doctor taught me this, it has always helped!
How the media depicts the Apollo 11 mission:
Actual quotes from the Apollo 11 mission:
also according to michael collins when the three of them were discussing what neil armstrong should say when he first stepped on the moon, collins suggested armstrong sayĀ āOh, my God, what is that thing?āĀ and then scream and cut out his mic.
all youāve done is convince me that michael collins was one of the funniest men alive tbh
Michael Collins is a HILARIOUS SPACE ANGEL and I will shout this from the rooftops every time this post comes up on my dash. He showed up at my school in Boston for an event and the first thing he said was āI just learned what the state bird of Massachusetts is. Itās the upraised middle finger.ā He followed up with āBuzz and Neil were bickering like an old married couple the whole time. It was nice to get some peace and quiet while they were on the surface. Forget being the farthest from all humanity, I just wanted to be the farthest from those two.ā
Oh and letās not forget his long and distinguished post-astronaut career in the State Department and as the director of the Smithsonian.
Reblogging again in memory of Collinsā passing today. Godspeed spaceman.
