Sorry we really went from free the nipple, take back the night, slut walks, and ending gender/sex segregation in sports being fucking milquetoast feminism 101 concepts to fucking girl dinner and "I just worry about fairness if we let trans girls play against cis ones" and "it was right of that woman to call the cops on a black man for existing near here in public during the day time because men are all violent monsters" and "radical feminism isn't transphobic we just need to kill all men including trans ones those oppressive traitors" and I will legit never be able to be normal about it. What the FUCK happened. I'd say I wonder what the feminists of my youth would say about this but I'm one and lemme tell ya I want to throw up. Go fucking read bell hooks or do something else useful please because all of this learned helplessness, gender essentialism, and transphobia dressed up as feminism is actively holding us back.
Work in progressssssss
Okay I know it’s bad but it is my first try at animation!! Grumpy Valdemar of course… maybe Lucio came to bother them…
Ode to the Homo naledi
Viggo talking to Hiccup referring to him and his other dragon riders; do we see the vision?
Hey!
So, that ROB/DOB rewrite that i was talking about? I have the exerpts to post now!!
So a brief tid-bit. This rewrite idea encompasses ALL of httyd but the first movie. Right now I only have the first two shows in the works. If anyone wants to ask asks, dm, whatever for further info and my thoughts on things rewrite related, go ahead!
Also this is just part of the overall doc im working with. I wanted to screenshot the Gobber page but just the outline of ideas and Hiccup's was quite a few screenies already :/. I might post these in sections??
Also these SHOULD be in order. Just minor warning that it could get screwed up, so just take note.
no, parents don’t abuse their children because they’re a narcissist, they abuse their children because society treats children like property and says that it’s perfectly okay to abuse kids if they’re being a “brat”
I feel like kids would be less "loud/annoying/tantrum prone/whatever the complaint about them is this week" if they weren't forced to live in a world that doesn't treat them like human beings and constantly forced to obey the whims of other people with no consideration for their own thoughts and emotions. And if they weren't actively conscious of this. Blaming kids for occasionally breaking down over their treatment is like blaming women for yelling at their abusive husbands or crying about the sexism inherent in society. It's "the women's disease/hysteria" but directed at children instead of women.
Even if they have genuinely loving families that don't neglect them, which is rare, children are still put under constant abuse from every other aspect of their life. They're living on ultra-mega-hard-mode. Emotions are understandable.
I also completely understand people who can't be around loud children, or who hate it when a kid breaks down crying or screaming in a store or a restaurant. I hate it when a kid breaks down crying or screaming in a restaurant or store. Like, that's not an unreasonable feeling to have when someone is making an uncomfortable amount of noise. I get it. You don't want that kid to be crying or screaming any more than they want to be doing it.
These kids didn't ask to be forced to sit in a fancy restaurant in uncomfortable clothes around people they don't like eating disgusting food for hours. Those kids didn't ask to be hauled around a supermarket looking at things they're not allowed to have. That kid is crying because they're in a situation they don't want to be in, and they probably didn't have any say over how they got there. They've been forced into Situations for probably their entire lives, and sometimes they snap and have breakdowns. Breaking down after the level of constant psychological abuse inherent in modern childhood would be considered normal and understandable for any other age group, but when children do it it's considered irrational and bothersome and annoying. I get that empathy is hard, we're all suffering, but maybe for once try to have some instead of just writing the suffering of children off as too annoying to deal with.
headcanons about Julian's eye/eyepatch to fertilize fandoms soils again
spoilers for julians route ofc
Julian's plague eye was the only one to turn red when he caught the plague, since one eye is normal and one eyes not i think its safe to assume being cured from the plague didnt do anything to his eyes in itself, and the symptoms only stuck in one because they only took hold of one. (i dont think anything disproves that outright, his memory art from studying the plague shows just his right eye). Due to that, I think he caught it in the first place through contamination in that eye, which would explain why it show the worst symptoms so much sooner than his other eye could. I think it also makes sense becuase the doctors do have decent PPE for the time, gloves, masks, aprons, etc, but I dont think we see any goggles.
the fact that his eye remains red after hes healed has something to do with how the plague beetles were used to make bright red dye, something about the infection carries red pigment in it: the infection leaves red pigment in the tissue it's infecting, which normally isn't noticable in the rest of human's red-ish tissue, but is much more stark in the eyes. this also works with how Lucio's prosthetic's "veins" are dyed red when he has the plague, even if it's not infectable tissue becuase its a magical prosthetic, contamination still lets pigment get into it to dye parts of the arm red. or i guess because its magic and the red plague is red magic lol.
inspired by this yt short by @/Hey_MissTeacher, his occasional clumsiness (especially when hes distracted) comes from the nerfed depth perception of only using one eye. His right side (our left) is hella banged up from bumping into shit, because his dramatic ass + altered spacial awareness = slamming into shit like hes getting paid for it.
wearing the eyepatch almost 24/7 for three years got him pretty used to operating out of one eye, so it takes him a second to adjust to using both again. doesnt take him long, he still lived most of his life with two eyes, but its enough for him to comment on it occasionally.
when taking off the eyepatch after having it on for a while, his eye is more sensitive to light, but not as much as he expects. Turns out, the bright red of his sclera absorbs more light, like brown eyes are able to handle sun a little better than blue eyes. again, not a dramatic difference, but he finds it interesting nonetheless.
i know technically the plague eyes supposed to be a functioning normal eye (i assume) because vision impairment was never any symptom of the plague and lucio didnt get it despite being sick for months BUT ☝️ what if it wasn't? maybe the infection weakened some nerves or parts in there, having that eye's vision get blurrier than the other over time. maybe never using it and having it covered 24/7 made it worse. maybe even after the plagues been gone and his crew know hes not contagious he still wears the eyepatch because its become more comfortable for him to use one eye than it is to use eyes with two very different levels of vision
I wish someone would shake some sense into people like this.
Not every parent deserves to be a parent.
Not every parent is a good parent.
There are parents who snoop through their kids' things and hold things against them. Their parents who bring up their kids mistakes even years later ignoring the fact that they didn't do anything actually productive to prevent said mistakes.
There are abusive parents who will love this because it means their kid can never think for themselves in ways they don't approve of, talk to friends they approve of (based on stupid factors), or participate in hobbies they don't approve of.
This stupid shit will kill kids.
What do you think happens when you take away a child's only way to make friends like them? One of their only ways to learn outside their home?
What do you think happens to the kids whose parents won't get them mental health when you take away a tool that helps them get that?
What do you think happens to disabled kids who can't go to school or who can but struggle to make friends?
What do you think happens to abused kids who can't find a way to get out?
What happens to kids who are in intolerant families when they aren't given access to a tool which can open their eyes to it?
They suffer.
They suffer. Their mental health suffers.
And some die.
Or they grow up to repeat the cycle.
I just wanna grab these people by the shoulders and make them listen to the countless reddit stories I've heard. The countless stories I and others have from our youth. Make some more sentences stories from kids who are still kids and who will suffer from this shit.
Ugh.
When I got my first debit account (I was 19 and this occurred during COVID, if that adds any additional context), I had no clue what ‘cash back’ meant, I thought it was ‘cash back’ in the loyalty rewards way, I was curious about the ‘DO YOU WANT CASH BACK?’ screen with all the pre-programmed money amounts. Instead of looking it up, I clicked the $20 option at Food Lion one day and I was completely astounded when the cashier pulled a $20 out of the cash register and went to hand it to me. This is the opposite of the natural order of things. The cashier was the same age as me and visibly baked so for a fraction of a second, I was wondering if our wires got crossed somehow. I just stood there for a moment staring at him in confusion while he stared at me in confusion. Then, I took the $20 and gathered up my groceries and left. Luckily, $20 didn’t put me into overdraft. No harm done, just a very embarrassing moment. Anyway, if someone comes into your retail job behaving like it is their first day on earth, it is probably because they feel like it is their first day on earth. We’re all just trying to figure this bullshit out. Amen.
Omfg y’all PLEASE. I’m a Dirty Commie but I at least understand The Terms and Conditions
I gave both an AI prompt and Reddit filled with Real People plz I stg just read more
That is cash back rewards, not a debit cashback. You’ve confused about the same thing I was.
So you admit there’s a difference between cash back and cashback…
Ohhhhhh. I think I see where you’re confused. Maybe, but they’re used interchangeably, even the commenter in the Reddit screenshot called it cashback rewards when referring to what you consider cash back rewards, instead of a withdrawal. I’m assuming English might not be your first language because of the German on the Reddit screenshot but it is not uncommon for there to be no true right way to word something and for words to be compounded or separated for stylistic reasons, especially in retail settings.
Hi, used to work in a credit union.
The comments on this post are wild. So, I figured I’d weigh in and explain some things real quick and clarify what some other commenters have already said. For quick clarification, I live in the states and worked in a credit union in the states. Your locale may have different laws and regulations that govern your financial institutions and card underwriters. All information that follows is based on my knowledge from issuing debit and credit cards and explaining them to people in the US. So, you may have to clarify with your financial institutions what governs your cards.
So first off, what is a credit card? A credit card is a revolving line of credit. That is to say, it is a loan that you agree to certain terms (interests rates and fees) and the underwriter (the financial institution that issues your card) will perpetually extend a predetermined amount of money (your credit limit) for as long as you maintain your account and abide by their terms. Quick note, your underwriter can decrease your limit if you do not abide by their terms and can raise your limit for being a good customer and earning trust with that company. (Again, I live in the US, your mileage may vary etc) You can also ask the card company to increase your limit.
As is explained in the comments, stores and merchants are charged a fee by the card underwriters and the point of sale (POS) systems they use. In reality what happens is the card companies charge the POS company and they charge the person who has the POS in their store. Most card companies offer a cash reward/rebate program to their customers to get you to use the card more places. So let’s say Visa charged 3% of your purchase price to Verifone who charged Walmart 5% for card processing. Visa will offer their customers 1% of that fee they’re collecting from Verifone back to the customer for using their Visa card. This is cash back as a rewards program. As a rule, credit cards are the only cards that offer rewards programs, but their are a few institutions who extend those rewards to their debit cards.
A debit card exist in some weird hybrid space of being an ATM card and a credit card. Your debit card is issued directly from a banking institution (this is the technical term for any institution that offers banking services including Credit Unions) and is not underwritten like a loan but is a direct line to your bank account. This direct connection to your bank account is the main reason it is highly recommended never to use your debit card online: if you put your card information in online and that information is stolen, the thief has a direct line to all the money you have in your account as opposed to a made up number that your credit card issuer says you can utilize as long as you agree to pay it back. Most debit cards can be run as credit as well. Yes, you will more than likely (each institution is different) not be charged interest, but the transaction will, typically, be processed slower than a debit transaction. It will also, typically, put a hold on the transaction amount in your account.
Now, you can use your debit card at an ATM (also referred to as a cash point) to directly pull cash out of your bank account. And because your debit card is a direct line to your bank account, many stores will allow you to increase your transaction amount and take the amount above your purchase price back as cash. This is a cash back service. It is in no way related to the cash back program of a credit card. It is the same difference of making a $20 purchase and paying with a $50. The cashier will give you $30 in cash back as change. It is cash, that you get back.
The confusion happens because education around financial products is lacking for most people, and credit cards use their cash reward programs as a major selling feature. So we see cash back rewards programs advertised and if you are new to cashless purchases the connection of getting cash back is immediately tied to the rewards programs that are heavily advertised by the credit card companies.
The main difference is, the cash you are taking out of the POS at the store is the money from your bank account. The cash reward at the credit card company is the card company giving you a portion of the fee they collected from your purchase to you as an incentive to use your card.
Now let’s make this more confusing. You can draw cash out of your credit card. DO NOT DO THIS OPTION! Your credit card offers a service know as a cash advance. They will have, typically, part of your credit limit that they will allow you to draw out of your card as cash using a cash advance service. This is a terrible service they offer. Why? They charge a higher interest rate. On average, in the US, this interest rate is around 30%. So don’t use it.
Instead, if you you need cash and you don’t have enough in the bank, you can go to your bank and look at taking a signature loan or opening credit line. A signature loan is a loan with no collateral. Collateral is like a house or car, a physical thing the bank can take if you fail to pay. With a signature loan, you promise to pay the loan back in a specified amount of time and if you don’t the bank can seek other recourse to reclaim the funds they lent you. Main one they do is take the money as it comes into your account until your loan and subsequent accrued interest and fees are paid back.
You can also open a credit line. A credit line is exactly like a credit card but without the card. Typically. The credit line is attached to your account and is a revolving line of credit that you can borrow against and repay for as long as the account is open. You can only access it through your account, meaning, you can often take cash out of it at an ATM, move funds from it to your checking account via online banking, in person at your financial institution, or by doing a transaction over the phone with your institution if they offer that service.
And there you have it. Hopefully that clarifies this whole debacle, which started as a “hey I was young and no one explained this to me and I learned something through experience so learn from my experience” post to being the great semantics off of ‘26.
The short version:
Credit card is not cash.
Debit card is a cash or cheque (also spelled ‘check’) alternative.
Credit cards offer “cash” back programs to get you to use their card. That cash is given to you from them doing business.
Debit cards can draw cash out of your account for you to do cash transactions. They can do this at certain stores via their POS system, just like getting change out of a larger bill that is larger than your purchase amount.
if anything happens in your life you should start having strange thoughts and beliefs
sketches of the httyd version bouncing around in my head, sorta au sorta just stuff i consider canon in my head.
i have not looked at canon helmet designs and the only one i remember is sorta kinda snotlout
snotlout out doing something alone after a weeks worth of doing dragon rescuing with the gang because dragon hunters SUCK when he spots a pretty flower and remembers all the times fishlegs saved his behind and decides to repay him with said flower.
but it's not like he LIKES fishface, he's just repaying him with his stupid little dainty flowers instead of his life because he's smarter.
(fishlegs thinks he's dying the rest of the week because of this)
I managed to cook something, and before the pride month ended. Clap.
