okay so you know how i said the ocs were coming soon? yeah well uh… a bit over a year later, i finally made some art of them that i’m happy posting!

if you want to see it, HUGE disorganized lore yap under cut! and when i say it’s big it’s like. LOTS of words. no joke no lie, i just really wanna ramble about them and get their story down somewhere :]
this is giant pencil and anchor cannon (or just pencil and anchor), they’re pirates and are part of a whole little pirate faction i’m calling Drowned Atoll (i couldn’t find any information on an ocean-based faction, phighting or otherwise. so this is completely made up!)
basically, i have this headcanon that inphernals aren’t taught/don’t know how to swim at all, hence why if you fall in water in-game you DIE. so i thought “what if there was a mini-faction where inphernals that like the water make themselves some ships and live almost exclusively on the ocean?” and yes they DO know how to swim and are incredibly good at it, because if you fall off your ship nobody’s gonna save you if you can’t swim.
the faction is like a weird extended family, when inphernals spot another ship they usually sail over and hang out some. only in rivalries is there any fighting. they also spend time on water nearly exclusively, only going to land for food, supplies, etc (or if they need to patch up their ship in the case it suffers damage). it’s common to see ships manned by only one or two inphernals (since inphernals are stronger than humans and gears help a lot), although incredibly large ones like THE pirate ships you see in media and stuff can’t be sailed alone unless said sailor is INCREDIBLY experienced. a crew is required!
the faction was founded only 30-40 years ago as of the events of the game/comic, and isn’t widely known about due to the inphernals of Drowned Atoll. they don’t go around making a big ruckus about it, tend to keep to themselves. even when asked, they’ll avoid the question or say they’re from lost temple. they know next to nothing about deities—SFOTH or otherwise— (EM DASH IS NOT AI. I REPEAT, NOT AI) only knowing what pertains to their ambassador/representative of the faction, crossbow of the sea.
crossbow of the sea is a story, and unknown if she’s actually a real inphernal… they’re just doing the thing, yk where it’s like representing them in spirit? like how sports teams have an animal or whatever? yeah. i don’t wanna go over her story yet ‘cause it’s super rough, but basically, a really long time ago, illumina “banished” her to the sea and the magic he put on her that was supposed to keep her alive and preserve her beauty (cause he was in love with her. haha dumbass gods and deities can’t quit falling in love with mortals!) ended up making her partially deity but also fish. greek mythology ahh story btw.
okay it’s pencil yap time! enough about the faction. pencil was spawned in playground (in my opinion, they have the loosest hold on their newspawns and only check the spawn once or twice every week) and had been wandering around idly. anchor, who had just so happened to be visiting a friend, noticed her, bid his friend goodbye, and basically yoinked her from right under playground’s noses. he decided it couldn’t hurt to raise the little thing in Drowned Atoll. yada yada they live out their life happily, pencil gets this STUPID HABIT of running into and making friends with DEITIES/PHIGHTERS when her father isn’t around, but whatever we ball.
for example, this little tidbit is incredibly old, but she met Banhammer in a bar. he was like “isn’t this thing too young to be here?” but the bartender was like “nah she only drinks pineapple juice, and it’s not like you can kick her out anyways. she just comes back.” she called him a phatty and somehow they are friends >:) more recently, she met venomshank after one of his little going feral thingies, insisted on patching him up (he was scratched up from fighting) no matter how much he insisted it wasn’t that bad, haha now they are friends also. maybe she would’ve met little sword because of him. who knows. venomshank was very surprised to find out she didn’t know he was a deity at all (no reaction to prompting her with the SFOTH’s names except illumina for obvious reasons), asked her about the little sword charm she had on one of her bracelets. she said that her father gave it to her saying it was a symbol of strength (shes not wrong lmao).
her father is pretty relaxed and trusting of her, so whenever they visit crossroads she goes on all sorts of little adventures like this. but since her father is busy adulting, meeting friends, getting supplies, he hasn’t actually met any of her friends and only knows what she mentions. but he isn’t worried because she’d tell him if something was wrong. they’re close like that lmao. aside from her little escapades, she is lowk frolicking and having a good life. until ONE DAY something evil happens… i can’t decide what is more evil, either she gets sick and dies, or she gets in a fight and dies. maybe something even eviler than that idk. basically she dies. and anchor is very sad. he vows to find a way to bring her back one day and that’s kind of where we are now, it’s a pretty recent development.
HOWEVER. I HAVE MADE AN AU. in this case, i think anchor shows up to save her if we’re going the “someone dies in a fight” option, but he ends up being the one who dies, and pencil is left with severe wounds via collateral damage. the attackers leave, satisfied, and she grabs her papa’s body and freaking books it. she isn’t sure where to go to get her own and her father’s wounds tended to, so she’s just wandering lost temple with no direction until she passes out in the sand. the rest you can read on the ref sheet up top, but i think eventually she’d defect and run away. at this point her dad is probably long gone with no chance of revival, and she REALLY wants to get away, even though they have her dad’s body. i think eventually she’d run into katana, who’d tweak tf out at this fucking thing in a true eye uniform on his property, but eventually realize she’d left like he had and takes her in. yay yay we love katana!

the first drawing is actually of one of my (very few) ocs!! because i was thinking about her gear and how she would know what to draw for a healer if she wanted (her name is pencil and basically she can draw little things on the air and they are alive for a bit, wow so cool), and i decided she would’ve seen medkit healing!!! and later on when his horns are all fixed or something (seriously how did medkit get his horns back i thought horns couldn’t regrow), see him in phights!!!
