hot take but I really dislike it when people say that fanfiction is automatically better then the actual official media. Like, if you're making fanfiction of a piece of media, shouldn't you already appreciate and like the initial thing?

respectfully, I disagree.

sometimes canon can be better than fanfiction, sure.

but sometimes fanfiction is way better than canon.

just because fanfics are inspired by the source material and just because fanfics are about characters who belong to the source material does NOT mean fanfics can never be better than canon and the source material.

I have personally read so many brilliant fanfics out there that are SO MUCH BETTER than the source material.

you can appreciate the source material if you want, sure. but other people can also say fuck you to that same source material and create their own world for the characters they love.

fanfic is about writers’ love and passion for the characters and the stories/the world that they create for these characters.

fanfic is not about “here’s my free promo and tribute to the source material because the source material is so amazing you guys”.

also source material and canon are only suggestions. how much of it a fanfic writer will follow, if any, is entirely up to them.

I love canon divergent fics, I love self-indulgent fics, I love fix-it fics. I love saving my comfort characters from the source material that can be a shit hole.

"Define frustration."

Frustration is when we knew from the start and quite frankly could predict the main point of Kaeya's lore pieces [+ Eclipse Dynasty] (since hyv took historical/legends off literally and nearly exactly) yet Kaeya has always been so included yet insanely excluded from plots regarding Khaenri’ah. The damned nation he was supposed to be the Last Hope of. He wasn't even mentioned regarding the events of the Chasm, we never knew if he was affected or why he wasn't (we still don't know how he's still human)... Then we proceeded to explore the history behind his own blood and clan yet leaving him "oblivious". (which I highly doubt he'd actually be kept in the dark regarding his family secrets cause that would be idiotic, because if he never knew, then whys the weight of his identity so heavy?) Hell we didn't even bother telling him the new information we got regarding his own kingdom that he should have had the rights to know?? 😭 (meanwhile he was the one who gave us information about the Abyss Order first... And would be the one to hint that "sinners are all that's left of Khaenri’ah" possible hint at the great sinners??) Yes most of the lore pieces are unsurprising if u bothered on doing research before the big reveals, but it's still so AUGHHHHH

I love my man, he is very well written with snippets and subtle hints that can slowly be compiled to see a bigger picture, but the way hyv "utilises" him just pmo I can't help it.. HYV WHYYYYYY

Oh and the most suspicious thing is that the characters that are similar to him (Capitano's fight/skills and Caribert) ARE "DEAD". AND WE NEVER GOT AN EXPLICIT EXPLANATION ON WHY THEY'RE SO DISTURBINGLY SIMILAR. (Aside from the surname)

I'm tired of crumbs...😭😭 Let my babyboo shine omg (I still remember an ex friend got into a heated argument with me and hated me for implying that a 4 star starter chr could play an importance in lore ever since 1.x lol)

Is it intersexist? There's a male character who happens to have an extra urethral orifice due to a fictionalized medical condition. There's a scene where a cis guy threatens him with pretty much genital mutilation if he doesn't allow his cis gf to penetrate him (all done in the name of medical curiosity ofc, completely unsexual) but I got these weird... vibes from it? Not to mention that the male character in question is portrayed as filthy/creepy/borderline p*d*philic/really weird for refusing to be surgically "fixed". (The show in question is "The Artful Dodger" the character appears in the last three episodes of the second season).
