roman-jadore:
Roman had to resist the urge to say “I’ll take it” the second he laid eyes on the gem. His mouth felt a little dry as he stared into the azure depths of the precious stone, fingers twitching with the itch to just reach out and touch it.
“It’s stunning,” he breathed out, “A dragon’s hoard, you say? Did they mention what kind? A Welsh Green? An Antipodean Opaleye? If they managed to get it away from the hoard unscathed, I have to assume the dragon wasn’t too dangerous.”
Depending on the rarity of the dragon, the price of the gem would also hike up immeasurably- or so Roman assumed. He wondered if Amycus was even willing to part with it.
Amycus saw the way Roman’s eyes lit up and he tamped down a flare of satisfaction. The blonde man was like a Niffler, or a magpie, or a dragon, eager to collect all the shiny things placed in front of him. Amycus couldn’t exactly find fault with that, since Roman had spent a significant amount of money since first entering Carrow’s Collections. He preferred to keep control of his own impulses himself, though.
“They said it was a Greek breed,” Amycus replied. “And no one said anything about unscathed.” His lips pulled up in a smirk. Dragons were magnificent beasts, but beasts all the same. And this one had had a magnificent hoard. “Oh they didn’t kill the thing,” he added with a wave of his hand. “It’s a rare breed. They just wanted it to study, and probably to breed.” Much like how all the Pureblood parents wanted their children to breed. But Amycus wasn’t thinking about that currently.
