Gaze in glory upon how all of Audra's brown skin did not, in fact, turn white in the bright light! But in fact, began to glow!
Fun fact! I used to work in lighting design and worked with Audra McDonald when she toured our venue.
Her rider was very explicit about what gels we were to use to ensure that nobody lit her in an unflattering manner. She and her crew were genuinely wonderful people to get to work with, and it was the first time that it ever occurred to me that you had to think about lighting Black people differently than white people, which then took me on a whole anti-racism/pro-equity journey I'm still on to this day.
The point that I eventually got to (about lighting specifically, but it kinda applies to everything) is that BIPOC people deserve to be celebrated for their beauty and lit in a manner that makes them glow.
Just wanted to add that y'all should listen to CBC, it'll only make your art more beautiful and complete.
