My favorite Natsby thing is making Nick the insecure, jealous one. Like yes Jay is possessive but he’s assuredly possessive. No one’s taking his man and in fact nick is simply not allowed to leave him

But Nick has never committed to a long-term relationship before. He ran clear across the country to avoid even the whispers of engagement.

He’s never had someone he’s afraid to lose.

So you can bet your ass he’s neurotic and weird about anyone even glancing in Jay’s direction.

The most important part of Nicks characterization is that he's a bitter bitch. Like his stand-up young man act is great, but you know that man is rotting away on the inside from the constant anger and disdain towards himself, even before Jay dies.

He's the most miserable person ever, he's just good at making people (including himself) believe he's just simply a super tolerant guy who's better than everyone else.

Like if anyone ever got to see behind the first few layers of how he presents himself they'd realize that man. This guy is just kinda sad and angry and never truly happy or satisfied, but he chooses not to acknowledge that, and he probably doesn't even know the full extent of it himself.

And that's why his life flips on its head when he meets Jay who medicates his self-hate with hedonism instead of harsh conscious and subconscious self-discipline. The second most important part is that he's gay as hell.

i'd like to imagine in an au where the accident doesnt happen and jay doesnt die that him and nick fully just become a couple and do couple things but they're not even aware that they're dating. like nick moves in with jay and stays in his room and sleeps in his bed and they sometimes go star gazing together and share all their secrets while lying in a field of flowers under the stars and jay points at two bright stars close to each other and goes "look! it's us!" and then they would kiss but like they think it's all platonic. they think they're just being bros and when they get accused of being boyfriends they're both flabbergasted and are genuinely like "what would make you think that??"

A reminder to the "the American government wouldn't..." crowd. They have. They have made their own internment camps before. They have rounded up innocent citizens and immigrants before. The victims of which are still alive to this day and trying to share their stories with the world, they have been trying to warn us for a long time. George Takei (as seen above) is a famous example of this. He has written about his experiences time and time again, even publishing a book talking about his time in these camps. He may be famous now, but at the time he was just another kid forced from his home. To this day he still firmly dedicates himself to trying to educate and inform people, trying to spread awareness with his platform. The American Government can and will do terrible things. Do not let anyone convince you otherwise.
