What is my path? – a spread to determine where you are, and where you need to go
"I think I'm doing witchcraft"
Me, staring at a candle for a solid 23 minutes: ........
Me, swinging a pendulum: should I have macaroni and cheese for dinner?
Me, talking to rocks: hello I love you everyone gets to be kissed
Me, kissing my rocks: cleansed♡
Me, lighting incense and waving it around: YeSSS
Me, throwing herbs into a bottle: okay yeah uh rosemary represents like.. love. I think. This is a love potion. Yeah
Me, chugging piping hot tea: SELF CARE
Remember in 1993 when Jurassic Park was like…the end all, be all of special effects?
not gonna lie that still looks intimately real
I’m still somewhat convinced that someone sold their soul to create the special effects in Jurassic Park because that shit is over 20 years old and it still really, really holds up, better than the stuff in a lot of current movies, even.
Fucking witchcraft, man.
fucking look at this shit though
Literally see this post flying around with a few different responses added to the bottom each time so I’ll say it for this one myself:
THEY ACTUALLY BUILT A GIANT MASSIVELY DETAILED FUCKING ANIMATRONIC T-REX FOR ALL OF THIS THAT’S WHY THE EFFECTS ARE SO GOOD. CAUSE IT AIN’T CGI. AND IT AIN’T GUY IN A COSTUME. IT’S A BIG FUCKING ROBOT DINOSAUR. AND EVERY PART IS DESIGNED TO MOVE. IT COST LIKE HALF THE BUDGET OF THE FILM.
amazing
And they had the film it in small increments, especially in the outdoor scenes, because the rain fall kept soaking into the ‘skin’ of the rex and would slow down and mess up its movements. So they would stop filming and have a crew out there drying off this massive, fake dinosaur, and then they’d start filming again until it was too wet. Repeat until the end of the scene.
They used animatronics and detailed costumes for most if not all of the dinosaurs in the first movie.
The triceratops for instance, was also animatronic.
And the raptors were dudes in suits. I shit you not.
One of my favorite anecdotes I’ve read on tumblr is how the t-rex robot from Jurassic park would malfunction while it was drying out. How did it malfunction, you might wonder?
Motherfucker randomly started moving.
So apparently if you were on the jp set you would sometimes hear people screaming bloody murder even though they were all well aware that it was a giant animatronic puppet and wouldn’t actually, you know, eat them.
(link to said post about malfunctioning t-rex)
Did not know this, had to reblog for awesome movie history insights.
So, I knew about the animatronics bit but I did not know the raptors were guys in suits and the malfunctioning t-rex sounds terrifying.
And i just googled malfunctioning t-rex and was not disappointed. Apparently in order to put the skin on over the steel frame a guy had to crawl inside the t-rex while it was turned on and glue the skin down. And if somebody turned the t-rex off or the power went out the guy in the t-rex stood a very real chance of getting mangled and killed by the hydraulics.
So of course, the power goes out.
And this guy is still in there gluing the skin down.
Apparently the way to survive getting sheered to death by huge sheets of metal while you’re inside a giant t-rex robot is to curl into a ball and hope for the best.
And this guy hoped for the best and got it.
Some other people on stage pried open the t-rex jaws and glue guy crawled out of its mouth and was totally okay.
This is getting better and better.
I think they only had like 6 minutes of CGI
I’m just waiting for the T-Rex to come to life and leave its stand.
@spinosaurus-the-fisher is this the kind of content you love?
Realism comes at a cost, it seems.
i mean ok but why has nobody posted this:
It’s a three piece raptor suit.
Old movies had the best special effects
The thing about this that gets my special effects nerd going is the fact that EVERY single dinosaur was sculpted by artists based on the current existent archeological evidence of the time.

Even better than that, this movie ADVANCED our best understanding of dinosaurs at the time. They were blowing out a budget bigger than anything Hollywood had ever seen, and along with employing almost the last hurrah of incredible physical FX, they had a bank of those newfangled digital SFX computers. Nobody’d ever really created convincing dinosaurs in a movie before. It’d all been stop-motion animation, and even when the models were exquisitely crafted, you could just tell there was something OFF about them. Spielberg wanted THE BEST DINOSAURS EVER, and he figured on using the cutting edge of digital modeling and animation technology to build them for him.
So they got hold of some of the best paleontologists they could find and said, “We want you guys to take this tech that your labs could pretty much never afford and use it to build us the most realistic, accurate dinosaur models the world has ever seen.”
The paleontologists knew an opportunity when it bit them in the ass. They plugged in everything they knew about dinosaurs, all the skeletons and their best guesses about soft tissue and all that. And when they’d created those dinosaur models, they had the computer start moving them as they realistically would with anatomy like that. One guy took a look at those walking t-rexes and velociraptors (really utahraptors, but whatevs, fam), and he said, “Wait a minute, I’ve seen movement like that before.”
He called up film of a chicken walking. Everyone in the room said, “Holy shit.”
Prior to 1989, the idea that birds were descended from dinosaurs existed–we knew about archaeopteryx, we knew there was some minor connection there–but the idea that DINOSAURS LIVE IN THE MODERN WORLD AND THEY ARE CALLED BIRDS was not pre-eminent. Jurassic Park changed our scientific understanding of dinosaurs.
That paleontologists’d be Kevin Padian. Who is awesome.

SELF-REFLECTION SPREAD
I mostly use tarot as a tool for personal introspection. Even people who don’t believe in divination of any kind can use tarot as an aid to explore different perspectives to a situation or even their own psyche. These are some things which I believe I need to confront about myself before achieving any real personal growth.
1. FIXATE
What are the parts of yourself or your life that you tend to get hung up about. Confronting yourself can be good, but overly obsessing on a particular problem or aspect of yourself can inhibit growth.
2. IGNORE
Conversely, what do you tend to push to the side. This can go both ways: some are unable to see the good things in themselves or their lives, while others gloss over their faults and avoid addressing their problems.
3. FALSE
What are the things we think to be true about ourselves, or our lives that are not. These are often negative qualities, a lot of people think they are less capable, less deserving or less worthy than they really are.
4. DECIPHER
What about ourselves have we yet to understand. Everyone has some things about themselves which they don’t yet fully grasp or cannot quite put to words.
5. WANT
What do we most want from ourselves and our lives. The things we wish were more true about ourselves or that we aspire to be. This is a long process to achieve, and part of that is learning that we can’t just skip to this step, we need to deal with the other parts of ourselves too, including the undesirable parts, before we can achieve true personal growth.
Note: Tarot is not a substitute for professional counselling and other forms of licensed therapy! Feel free to use it as a complimentary practice (unless otherwise advised), but do not rely on it as your sole means of treatment if you believe you need professional counselling.

a spell to draw romantic energy to you
this is a spell for witches who are lonely, single, or who are craving new and exciting energy to fill their heart. it creates an aura of beauty around you and attracts romantic energy your way. best done during a waxing moon. you will need:
❤ cilantro (attracting romance and peace)
❤ avocado pit (love, lust and beauty)
❤ catnip (beauty and happiness)
❤ jasmine (attracting spiritual love and soulmates)
❤ a glass jar with a lid
❤ paper and pink or red ink
1. on your paper, write out how you want your heart to feel. write out the kind of relationship you want to draw to you. what kinds of dates do you want to go on? what traits do you value in a partner? give the herbs as much information about the romantic energy you want to attract (being careful not to write details like appearance, name, etc. so as to avoid messing with free will)
2. roll the paper up and kiss it before placing it in the jar. place the avocado pit in the jar afterward, and follow with the catnip, cilantro, and jasmine.
3. place the jar under your bed until you feel as though the romance you desired has entered your life; at that time, burn the paper and scatter the organic material outside under the moon.
Landlord: “ Gonna lie about you leaving the apartment a huge mess so I can stea- use $600 from your deposit for a cleaning service because the state law says I can and I know you can’t do anything about it. ” You assumed my pentacle meant I was a Love and Light, Threefold Law abiding witch didn’t you.
We’ve had this happen at literally every place we’ve lived. Next time we are taking before and after photos so we can take the landlord to court if they try it.
We’ll have to do that if we ever rent again. Our whole reason for buying a house is that since our state has no fair rent law, buying a house is cheaper than renting. All the places we could rent right now are at least around $1100 with nothing included, even if the place is falling apart. The place we just left was $1200 a month, included nothing, and was so drafty it may as well have not had windows. We bought oil maybe 4 or 5 times in a year, despite trying to weatherproof the leaks.
YAAASSS get that guy!!!
A Bridge To Greater Understanding Spread
A spread inspired by Wonder Woman
The Amazons were given to Mankind by Zues to act as a bridge to greater understanding, and to help them find peace among themselves. This spread is designed to help us achieve a greater understanding of ourselves, personally, so that we may be that bridge of greater understanding to others.
The world is full of evil, as evident by the daily news. But, this spread was made in hopes that it will help us better understand the world by understanding ourselves, and also remind us to stand in the gap when no one else will.
This, to me, means being woke. You see the injustices, the inequalities, the racism and division of the peoples in this world…
People are deserving, even if we think they are not. We must look past all of the injustices, all of the evil we witness, to continue forward - to be like Diana and do what we can, when we can.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
1. & 2. Bracelets of Submission
A reminder of an injustice you have endured, and how it has strengthened you. How can you reach a greater understanding from these experiences?
3. Lasso of Truth
A hard truth that you have hidden away from yourself that needs to be dealt with. Is there something holding you back from being courageous and keeping you from embracing your greater understanding?
4. Antiope’s Tiara
How to bear the burdens that come with greater understanding. Being woke isn’t a walk in the park. The more you understand, the more burdens you bear. How can you best deal with your greater understanding?
5. The Shield
How to do to shield yourself from negative influence. How can you keep all the negativity of the bad things happening in the world from throwing you in to despair?
6. The Sword
An action that can be taken to provide the peace you wish to see in the world. Where and how do you begin to do more than you are doing now? How can you be a bridge to greater understanding for others?
7. The God-Killer
A closer look at what it is you are truly fighting for. What are your convictions about peace and your greater understanding? Who would you be if you did not stand for what you believe in?
This spread is certainly not a call to arms, and by no means a call for violent acts. This spread is for shadow work and introspection. What you do with this spread is for your own musings and I do not take responsibility for any of your actions.
This is one of my original spreads. If you use this spread for any promotional services please credit me accordingly!

Here’s some advice I had about sigils, a fun and accessible way to make your life more magical! There was a lot I wanted to say so I hope it’s not too wordy.
The only beauty sigil I ever use
“I am attractive to those around me.” Drawn with my favorite lipstick and burned to charge.
